Dr. Malkemus attended the University of California at Santa Cruz and graduated in 1973 with a degree in Biology. He then studied at the University of California at San Francisco where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1983. He began practicing family and cosmetic dentistry in Rohnert Park in 1985.In addition to his practice, Dr. Malkemus is a member of the California and American Dental Associations, the Cotati and Rohnert Park Chambers of Commerce, and the Rancho Cotati Rotary Club. He is currently writing health articles for The Community Voice Newspaper, a local newspaper serving Penngrove, Cotati, and Rohnert Park.He is married and has two married sons. His twin grandsons joined the family in 2015 to his delight. Physical and mental health are priorities in Dr. Malkemuss life. He bicycles to work and swims almost every day.

Vickie has been in the health professional field for over 30 years and enjoys working with patients, getting to know them and their families, and helping to meet their scheduling and financial needs. We are lucky to have enjoyed her calm presence at our front desk for over 20 years. Vickie has two adult children and two grandchildren. She enjoys crafts and going to yard sales with her sisters. Her Beagle mix 'Bernie' and her cat Horseshoe also provide her with endless entertainment.
Michelle is a people person and a problem solver. She has worked in dentistry for over 24 years and with us for over 13 years. She worked chair side as a registered dental assistant and still helps in the treatment rooms when we really need her there but her forte is treatment coordination. Having been an RDA she really understands treatment plans and is able to guide patients through the procedures they need. She has been married for over 25 years to her high school sweetheart and has two sons in college, who fill her life with lots and lots of baseball and football. She is an avid baseball mom, especially now with one son an Arizona Wildcat player! Her Boxer named Dallas keeps her laughing as well.
Mary Alice has been with the practice from day one in a variety of capacities. Nowadays she handles the bookkeeping needs of the practice and shares her desk with Dr. Malkemus. Shes mostly behind the scenes but she uses her x-ray license and sterilizes as well. She enjoys the science and seeing the terrific results of todays modern dentistry. She has a masters degree in molecular biology. She is learning to paint and many of her paintings adorn the office, as well as those of her mentor Carole Watanabe. She spends many happy hours with her twin grandsons, Ocean and Arthur.
Laura looks forward to coming to work everyday. She loves getting to know about our patients and finding a solution to their dental needs. Everyone is different and she tailors her delicate work to each person. She feels blessed that for over 14 years our patients have trusted her with their Dental Hygiene care. Laura is married with two daughters and two sons, has served on the Board of the Bay Area Turners Syndrome Society, and supports many community programs for Special Needs Children. Laura loves sports of all kinds, but baseball is her favorite!! She loves the Giants!! She grew up in Rohnert Park, graduated from Rancho Cotate High School and from Sonoma State University. In winter 2016 her golden doodle Maddie joined the family!
Barbara has been in the dental field for over twenty years and worked with Dr. Malkemus for over 20 years! She enjoys dentistry because she gets to work with all types of people and gets to be on the cutting edge technology of modern procedures. In addition to her many assisting skills, Barbara also organizes and keeps up to date with the hundreds of dental products we use. She has two kids and enjoys entertaining and hiking on the weekends with her husband. Her dear Schnauzer Belle is the baby of the family!

This office is full of great people. I came in for some extensive work that took about 3 hours. Dr Malkemus and Barbara repeatedly helped with my positioning and even massaged my jaw when it hurt. I felt safe, which made a huge difference to me. Thanks, folks.

They were helpful. They took me in right away, took an xray and figured out the problem. They gave me several referrals and then stated I could come back in the am for the procedure if I chose to. So I scheduled it. They were kind, pleasant and professional. Thank you very much!

Dr. Malkemus and his staff went above and beyond today. I was schedules for just a cleaning but they took extra timeout on their Friday evening and gave me a few needed fillings. The atmosphere and staff were very soothing. See you all soon.

I was sent to Dr M because my own dentist was unavailable. I was quickly provided an appointment and when I arrived was treated very well. Dr M explained my options / I picked one and left. All in all the experience more than met my expectations. I would certainly recommend this practice.

This is my 22nd year with this wonderful team. Laura is the best, kindness and brilliant Dental Hygienist. Dr Malkemus is gentle, kind and is all about comfort and utilizing the latest techniques and technologies. Barbara and Michelle are great dental assistants as well. And is it always a pleasure to deal with Vicky at the front desk.

Dr. Malkemus and his staff are the best. They are very professional and took great care with my son's teeth. Dr. Malkemus was very courteous and explained everything that he'd be doing. He offered suggestions for the approach so we'd be able to decide the best way to proceed with the dental work. We also had a dental emergency and unlike other doctors who only have an answering service, he offers a way to reach him personally, which he did when I called. I'd highly recommend him to anyone who needs dental work done.

Supportive plus! I recently had pain that started during a flight to the Southern U.S. I had to go see a dentist on an emergency basis in North Carolina. Dr Malkemus' office interfaced with him to make sure he had all the data. I couldn't get the root canals done in North Carolina, but Dr Malkemus managed to schedule me in quickly. I was in quite a bit of discomfort and he and his very professional staff supported me every step of the way. I'm so grateful!
