Geoffrey Bell DDS - General dentist in Carlsbad, CA

As a young child and soft-drink-loving teenager who hated the dentist and had cavities every visit, my initial experiences with dentistry were much like many of you. As such, I have had more than my share of dental work. Because I share those experiences, I realize my job is to make you feel good about your teeth now, not guilty about the past. My personal perspective enables me to understand and relate to people who have significant fears and concerns about dental care.

My childhood dentist would be rolling over in his grave if he knew my occupation today. He was not understanding, gentle, or concerned about why I had so many cavities. My mission is to empower you to become a better patient by making your dental experience comfortable and comprehensible through exceptional and gentle care. My most important role as a dentist is to help you understand how we can work together to prevent future problems. I am constantly exploring and researching new ways to help my patients stay healthy.

I did not come to dentistry on a single career path. My journey of employment took many turns; I was a taco fryer at Taco Bell, deckhand on a tanker, waiter at the Hungry Hunter (I was a terrible waiter), houseman at La Costa Resort, dental lab tech, auto mechanic, ski mechanic, surf shop employee and a corrosion engineering technician. It probably doesnt hurt that my father was a psychologist, but one of the most important things I have learned from these different jobs and life experiences is how to get along with all types of people. In addition, I also learned what I like to do best. My whole life I have enjoyed working with my hands, from jewelry making to working as an auto mechanic. (Working on dental implants is like working on an exotic car with feelings attached.) After graduating with high honors from UCSD in 1974, I found my lifes passion at the UCLA School of Dentistry where I was able to use my ability to relate to others and my hands to contribute to others. I graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry in 1980.

I have lived all over the world including Chicago, Louisiana, Australia, India, Claremont, Mammoth Lakes, Pennsylvania, and finally Carlsbad, California. Having traveled around the world twice on ships, I can say with certainty, that there is no better place to live than Carlsbad. Today I am living my dream. I live in the community I love, Carlsbad, with my wife, Debi, the love of my life for 44 years, three blocks from my office. I have the successful practice I always dreamed of filled with my friends and neighbors. My daughter and son who were raised in Carlsbad have happy successful lives of their own. Our daughter lives here in Carlsbad and travels around the the US as a very successful program manager for a technology firm. She tries to explain to me what she does but it is way over my head. Our son Brandon joined our dental practice six years ago after graduating from UCLA dental school. Sharing my lifes passion with him is a joy. Everywhere I go people stop me to tell me what a great person and dentist he is. Every parents dream is for their children to be better than they are, I live that dream. Having lived in India as a teenager I realize how blessed we are to live in the United States and how much of the world lacks for even the most essential, simple things in life like a toothbrush.

Over the last twenty three years our family has traveled to Costa Rica visiting local schools and isolated areas distributing over 18.000 toothbrushes and providing oral hygiene instructions. We have also provided computers school supplies, fishing gear and clothes for people in need. In addition our patients have helped us to distribute toothbrushes throughout the world to Africa, Mexico, Nicaragua, Rarotonga, Bali, Panama, Cuba, and El Salvador. We also have established the AWB foundation that funds uniforms for local Costa Rican soccer teams from one of the poorest villages Cocal Amarillo. now and into the future. We alternate, one year the boys team the next the girls team. Against all odds the local girls team from the small village played in the national semifinals for Costa Rica.

This blog had been infected to serve up Gootloader malware to Google search victims, via a common tactic known as SEO (Search Engine Optimization) poisioning. Your blog was serving up 60 malicious pages. Your blogged served up malware to 76 visitors.

  • Block these IPs (5.8.18.7 and 89.238.176.151), either in your firewall, .htaccess file, or in your /etc/hosts file, as these are the attackers command and control servers, which send malicious commands for your blog to execute
  • Consider wiping the server completly, as you do not know how deep the infection is. If you decide not to, I recommend installing some security plugins for WordPress, to try and scan for any remaining malicious files. Integrity Checker, WordPress Core Integrity Checker, Sucuri Security, and Wordfence Security, all do some level of detection, but not 100% guaranteed
  • Gootloader (previously Gootkit) malware has been around since 2014, and is used to initally infect a system, and then sell that access off to other attackers, who then usually deploy additional malware, to include ransomware and banking trojans. By cleaning up your blog, it will make a dent in how they infect victims. PLEASE try to keep it up-to-date and secure, so this does not happen again.

I was born and raised in Carlsbad in the square mile between my childhood home, the Carlsbad school system, and our Carlsbad dental office. I am happy to have the opportunity to return to and practice in the community that I love. Some patients may even remember me as the platinum blond kid running around the dental office, or maybe held me to keep me from crying hysterically as I was known for being a sensitive baby. I understand it may be difficult seeing me in the dental office now a bit taller and wearing a white coat, but we all know that the old Dr. Bell will never retire, so patients now have the benefit of two Dr. Bells. Everyday, I am asked when I decided to follow in my dads footsteps and become a dentist. Perhaps it seemed inevitable to most people, but growing up I was unaware that dentistry would become my future. Nor did I have a single ah ha moment that dentistry would become my lifes passion. Rather, my decision to become a dentist and practice in Carlsbad came from an accumulation of life experiences and my desire to contribute and help people. Sure, I have been surrounded by dentistry my entire life. I have been my dads on call dental assistant since I was old enough to hold a suction, and have distinct memories of coming into the dental office on weekends to help patients in pain and even some of my friends that had broken their teeth.

As a child growing up around our Carlsbad dental office, I did not have the fearful and sometimes painful introduction to dentistry that many people remember of their childhood. Rather, I saw my dad interacting with patients every day and having a good time doing it. Laughter was a more common noise than the drill, and it felt good to be a part of such a positive experience for patients. In addition to being surrounded by dentistry in Carlsbad, our family vacations often involved distributing hundreds of toothbrushes and providing oral hygiene instruction to children at local schools in under served regions in Costa Rica, a tradition we continue today.

After graduating from Carlsbad High school in 2002, I attended UCSB for 5 years, graduated with high honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society. More importantly, I met my beautiful next door neighbor and love of my life, Kristina, and we have been inseparable since. While I thoroughly enjoyed my time at UCSB and would have stayed as long as I could, they told me I had to graduate because I had too many units. I struggled with the decision to enter medicine or dentistry, but after spending a lot of time in hospitals with a friend that was battling cancer, I knew that I was not emotionally cut out to deal with life and death decisions on a daily basis. What I did know through my experiences growing up was that I could have a positive impact on people through dentistry, so I decided to apply to dental school.

I attended UCLA School of Dentistry for the past four years, the same dental school my father graduated from, and recently graduated in June 2012. My goal at UCLA was to work as hard as I possibly could to be the best dentist that I could be. I was selected by the Chair of the Division of Restorative Dentistry to participate in an accelerated program aimed at developing general dentists, and received the Academy of Operative Dentistry Award, UCLA School of Dentistry Award for Excellence in Restorative Dentistry, and UCLA School of Dentistry Award for Excellence in the Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. In addition, I was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Honor Society, which is awarded to the top 10% of graduating students. The recognition was nice, but my motivation was always simply to work hard to be the best dentist that I could be so that I could provide patients with the best care possible.

When Im not in the dental office you can find me surfing, playing tennis, snowboarding in Mammoth, or walking around Carlsbad with my wife and our dog, Charger, who we have to make sure is always living the dream. I look forward to meeting you in the future.

I am a long standing patient of this practice. I highly recommend them. They are very efficient, if your appointment is at 10, you are in the chair at 10. The entire staff is awesome - and Dr. Bell is wonderful. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, kind, efficient practice, this is it!

As much as I dislike going to the dentist, Dr. Brandon Bell and the team are awesome and put you at ease with their friendly smile and conversation. You're always in good hands at Dr. Bell's office and I couldn't speak higher of what they have done over the last 35 plus years for my teeth.

Dr Bell and his staff are the absolute BEST! I have been going to him for 25 years and he has always taken great care of my teeth! I would recommend his office for anyone who is afraid of the dentist, You can't even feel it when he gives you a shot to numb your mouth. Everyone in his office is personable and professional. It's great to know that I have someone who is genuinely concerned about my oral health. I highly recommend this dental office. Oh, did I say...I love both Dr. Bells?

My bi-annual cleaning with Debbie and it was a breeze as usual. Dr.Brandon came in once done with his typical mellow comforting demeanor and went over my cleaning and what they saw. Always a positive consult and your decision if you want to move forward if needed. If you are looking for a great dentist I can't say enough about the Bell practice. Jeff C.
