Gentle Family Dentistry provides top-notch general and cosmetic dentistry in a place where your needs always come first. Our caring and experienced team is led by Dr. Neal Locker, who has 34 years of professional experience. We provide preventive dentistry, cutting-edge cosmetic dentistry and restorations, as well as gentle dental care. We proudly serve Duncansville, Altoona, Blair County, Cambria County, Bedford County, and surrounding areas.
Dr. Neal Locker grew up in Passaic, NJ. He joined the Army and served in Vietnam before attending college at Rutgers University. After receiving his DMD from the New Jersey Dental School (now Rutgers Dental School), he joined the Air Force and spent three years at Langley Field in Hampton, Virginia. Following service in the Air Force, Dr. Locker joined the U.S. Public Health Service and served for a year on the Navajo reservation.
Dr. Locker then moved back to New Jersey and worked as a general dentist for various practices. He, his wife, and their three kids moved to Altoona, Pa., where he worked as a general dentist for another group practice until he opened Gentle Family Dentistry on March 9, 1994. Besides dentistry, Dr. Locker is also very knowledgeable in proper nutrition and naturalistic health maintenance.
Dr. Locker works with skilled and caring professionals. Our administrative and clinical staff members are experienced in providing personal care for each patient. Expect smiles and warm attention from our team members the moment you walk through the door. Our hygienists are thorough and very gentle. We take the time to get to know each patient better and make sure that you have a positive experience each time you visit.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I was told by the dentist there would be no charge for my visit only to get a $300 bill two months later (which I paid in full). Two years later I received another bill for $83 because they made a mistake on the amount owed. TWO YEARS LATER!!

Awesome place, great people. Everyone makes you feel comfortable and are like friends. And the big us is there is no pain or discomfort like the dentist of your youth. You don't have to be scared of coming here.

Great experience! I was having tooth pain for a few days and they were able to get me in right away for evaluation as a new patient. The staff was very friendly and effectient and Dr. Locker was very nice and explained everything in detail. I normally don't like to go to the dentist but I have no anxiety to return for my scheduled routine. I highly recommend this office!

Dr. Locher and the Team at GFD have been my Dental Care providers for more than 10 years now. They are the absolute best; friendly, efficient and genuinely concerned about my mouth! In the entire time I've been going there I've never waited more than a few minutes to be called in. Definitely a five star dental care group and I would recommend them to anyone!

Everyone there was extremely friendly. Any visit to a dentist proves to be at least somewhat stressful. Either the actual dental work or the financial aspect. They made every step easier with their friendly and easy demeanor. Thank you for helping me find my new dentist office. My wife will be scheduling an appointment soon.
