Dr. Bowman-Hensley attended A-B Tech for Associate of Arts and the Registered Dental Hygiene program, UNCA for multiple undergraduate studies, and WCU for a bachelor in Chemistry. She worked as a registered dental hygienist in high-quality local practices for 13 years, studying under the finest dentists in Asheville and Black Mountain. Dr. Bowman-Hensley was encouraged to go on to dental school and continued to work as a hygienist as well as holding several other odd jobs to put herself through school.
Once Dr. Bowman-Hensley graduated from dental school, she served in public health work for two years before opening her own practice in 2002 with the support of her mentor dentists. In addition to her professional pursuits, Dr. Bowman-Hensley served as an adjunct professor at A-B Tech, where she taught both clinical assisting and hygiene. She also served on the ABTC Advisory Board, the Buncombe County Board of Health, and for numerous years on the North Carolina Academy of General Dentistrys (NCAGD) Board of Directors. She currently serves in the House of Delegates and maintains active membership in the North Carolina Dental Society, Buncombe County Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Bowman-Hensley held all officer positions with the North Carolina Academy of General Dentistry including President. She also volunteered at numerous clinics for underserved individuals and accomplished several special projects. Dr. Bowman-Hensley served for many years with the North Carolina Academy of General Dentistry as the Legislative Chair, held a presidency there, and was a meeting chair for five years. She and her husband actively support local rescue shelters, veterans groups, her church, Eblen Charter, and other community-related charities.

Rebecca is our business managera Jill of all trades! She coordinates care between patients and specialists and ensures each patients needs are met with the highest level of attention. She also expands patients understanding of their insurance benefits, making their visits effortless and convenient.
Rebecca has lived in two continents, attending a university in Australia and getting her Bachelors degree in Florida. She has since moved back to the Blue Ridge Mountains which she missed. She enjoys hiking on the weekends
Cheryl is our insurance coordinator, expertly helping patients maximize their benefits. Sometimes you may see Cheryl in the clinical setting, using her many years of hands-on dental experience to offer assistance where needed.
Cheryl was born in Charlotte, NC, but raised all over the United States and Germany while her father was in the USAF. She has since moved to the Asheville area with her beloved Golden Retriever Maggie. She has two children and two beautiful granddaughters.
Emily is one of our incredibly talented dental assistants! Her thorough education in Dental Assisting provides her with fresh insights and passion to share with the rest of our team. Emilys energy and positive attitude are contagious, and she thrives on making a difference in others lives. She has wanted to be in the dental field all her life and is excited to now be living out her dream.
Azure joined our practice as a Dental Assistant in the summer of 2020 and possesses an enthusiastic, detail-oriented work ethic. Her desire to care for others and her fantastic interpersonal skills are wonderful assets to us! Azure is a favorite among our energetic, younger patients. She completed additional dental courses in two key areas since joining our team and has quickly integrated these skills into our practice.

Dr. Bowman has given me excellent dental care from my first appointment. Her office staff are all so friendly and kind, a very comfortable atmosphere. A shout out to Emily, her dental assistant, for her precise work. Also, Rebecca, the office manager. is so patient and nice on the phone, she takes care of what you need immediately!! My daughter is in college at Warren Wilson. She has had several bad experiences with different dentists over the years. Some have even made fun of her, which has made her very anxious about going to the dentist. I sent an email and then received a call. I explained about her experiences and that we just don't have good teeth and gums. Genetics. Everyone in this office, from the receptionist, the hygienist, the dentist, everyone has treated my daughter with such care, it amazes me. I truly thank everyone for their kindness. The best in Asheville!! Y'all Rock!

Was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED Rebecca failed, MULTIPLE TIMES, to disclose a $245 charge associated with my SECOND visit to this Office. She showed ZERO Professional Compassion, but I guess this is how the Dentist chooses to treat "certain" patients. I guess I should've chosen a Dentist NOT because of my Love for Bears and the Chicago Cubs...

Excellent service, going "above and beyond". Twice, they have found a place for me on their schedule on short notice so that I could get some work done prior to surgery. Each time, they went to exceptional lengths, going beyond their normal procedures, in order to take care of me.

I suffered from a tooth infection so long because I didn't have time to take care of my own health because of work. When I called to see if I could see the dentist there, as the pain became unbearable, the dentist had me come in that afternoon. The location was easy to find and the atmosphere calming, significantly reducing my anxiety. Dr. Bowman-Hensley was kind and truly gentle with my exam. I will likely establish as a patient with them...the entire staff is wonderful! I highly recommend Gentle Family Dentistry!

The staff were nice/friendly except for the dentist. The dentist was rude and made me feel awful. My teeth need work but they aren't horrible. And she kept exaggerating what needed to be done to my teeth at one point saying "you need over 25,000 dollars worth of work done" in a demeaning tone. I've never had a dentist say that to me or make me feel the way she did. I dont like to pull the race card but I did notice her tone and friendliness with another patient was vastly different than with me. When she walked to the check out counter with me she didn't even say bye have a good day nothing! Yet, told the other white man patient, to have a wonderful day This may seem petty but going to the dentist is hard anyway, and I've never been treated the way she treated me. Have some consideration and kindness lady.
