Dr. Shahinian always wanted to work in healthcare. For him, dentistry sounded like the perfect fit because it would allow him to work with his hands while interacting with each patient one-on-one. He also liked that through dentistry, he could make an immediate and long-lasting difference in his patients lives.
Dr. Shahinian graduated from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, after which he attended an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at NYU/Lutheran Medical Center. He is trained and certified to provide Invisalign and keeps himself up to date on the changing world of dentistry through regular continuing education. He is also an active member of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Shahinian has a lovely wife and baby girl to whom he dedicates most of his free time. He is a classically trained pianist and also plays guitar and writes music. To stay active, he enjoys hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter.
Dr. Zelia Cannon has been providing exceptional dentistry with a gentle touch for over 30 years. She has earned the reputation for providing the standard of excellence and personalized dental care by using the highest quality dental material and the most experienced dental lab technician to ensure a beautiful and healthy, long-lasting smile.
Since she can remember, Dr. Cannon has been fascinated by the dental profession. She actually came from a family of orthodontists her father and sister had dental offices in Brazil, and she spent most of her early years working in the dental office. Becoming a dentist herself felt like a natural choice, and she was sure that she could exceed her patients expectations by providing high-quality care.
Dr. Cannon completed her undergraduate education at Pitagoras College in Brazil and Rutgers University in New Jersey. She then pursued her doctorate at New York University College of Dentistry. Following traditional schooling, she regularly pursues continuing education in order to offer her patients the very latest in cutting-edge dentistry. Over the years, she has studied specialty topics like cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, BOTOX and dermal fillers, laser dentistry, dental implant restorations, occlusal equilibration at the Pankey Institute, and much more. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.
Dr. Cannon is married to a wonderful man and has two beautiful and talented stepdaughters. When she isnt busy caring for patients at Gentle Dentistry, she loves spending quality time at the beach, doing yoga, dancing, singing, exercising, relaxing with her loved ones, traveling, and practicing good nutrition and cooking. Heres an interesting fact about her: she used to perform on the trapeze in her younger years!
