Dr. Shahinian always wanted to work in healthcare. For him, dentistry sounded like the perfect fit because it would allow him to work with his hands while interacting with each patient one-on-one. He also liked that through dentistry, he could make an immediate and long-lasting difference in his patients lives.
Dr. Shahinian graduated from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, after which he attended an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at NYU/Lutheran Medical Center. He is trained and certified to provide Invisalign and keeps himself up to date on the changing world of dentistry through regular continuing education. He is also an active member of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Shahinian has a lovely wife and baby girl to whom he dedicates most of his free time. He is a classically trained pianist and also plays guitar and writes music. To stay active, he enjoys hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter.
Dr. Zelia Cannon has been providing exceptional dentistry with a gentle touch for over 30 years. She has earned the reputation for providing the standard of excellence and personalized dental care by using the highest quality dental material and the most experienced dental lab technician to ensure a beautiful and healthy, long-lasting smile.
Since she can remember, Dr. Cannon has been fascinated by the dental profession. She actually came from a family of orthodontists her father and sister had dental offices in Brazil, and she spent most of her early years working in the dental office. Becoming a dentist herself felt like a natural choice, and she was sure that she could exceed her patients expectations by providing high-quality care.
Dr. Cannon completed her undergraduate education at Pitagoras College in Brazil and Rutgers University in New Jersey. She then pursued her doctorate at New York University College of Dentistry. Following traditional schooling, she regularly pursues continuing education in order to offer her patients the very latest in cutting-edge dentistry. Over the years, she has studied specialty topics like cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, BOTOX and dermal fillers, laser dentistry, dental implant restorations, occlusal equilibration at the Pankey Institute, and much more. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.
Dr. Cannon is married to a wonderful man and has two beautiful and talented stepdaughters. When she isnt busy caring for patients at Gentle Dentistry, she loves spending quality time at the beach, doing yoga, dancing, singing, exercising, relaxing with her loved ones, traveling, and practicing good nutrition and cooking. Heres an interesting fact about her: she used to perform on the trapeze in her younger years!

The technician was very good and very thorough. She took every effort to make sure I was comfortable; even switching tools midway through the cleaning to deal with my sensitivity. I was, however, there for 1hr 45 minutes and nearly missed another appointment. I also believe they are dropping Delta Dental in the new year so I will likely need to find a new dentist.

Dr. Cannon and staff are incredible. Office is impeccably clean, and beautifully decorated. Every detail is well thought out. I was in the other day for a crown and it was painless and professionally done. Great care is taken to make sure you are comfortable, relaxed, and not experiencing any discomfort. I had remarked to Dr. Cannon that I was a child of the 50's when it came to dentists. No novocaine, no water-cooled drills, archaic procedures. So I'm a white-knuckler when it comes to the dentist. This big chicken was treated with the utmost care. Cutting edge technology helps to complete the experience with no pain whatsoever. I highly recommend Gentle Dentistry.

Dr. Cannon demonstrates true care for her patients and makes sure that they are as comfortable as possible throughout the process. I've had prior experiences at other offices where the dentist rushes through the visit and does not take the time to do their job properly. Dr. Cannon is the opposite of that. All the workers are very friendly and show true passion for their job and carfe for their patient. Highly recommend!

Dr. Cannon and her staff go above and beyond! I experience positional vertigo, and it can be triggered by the supine position, which is often the situation when having dental work. I explained I wanted to make sure my head remained somewhat elevated, but that I would lie back as far as possible, and Dr. Cannon went so far as to recommend not lying back at all - and performed my dental work standing up while I sat! It took a few extra assistants to help, but everyone was incredibly kind and willing to assist. I received a comfortable neck pillow too, and she used the hygienist's tools that have a softer vibration so there wouldn't be any vertigo triggers. Dr. Cannon went far beyond my expectations. Her bedside manner is impeccable. I am so incredibly grateful for everyone at Gentle Dentistry.

From the moment I step thru the door at Gentle Dentistry I feel cared for!! Nadine is the best dental hygienist I've ever been to. She is so thorough and is an expert in her profession! Dr Cannon is my Dentist.... For the first time ever I am relaxed in the dental chair!! She is the most gentle, caring and proficient Dentist! I always leave Gentle Dentistry feeling 100% satisfied and highly recommend their services!

I've been going to Gentle Dentistry for more than 20 years. Dr. Cannon, Nadine, Kathy and the entire team are fantastic. And their Covid protocols are exceptional. They've invested to ensure patients and staff are safe. My entire family feels comfortable going to our appointments given the precautions taken. Thanks for the great care!

Wonderful experience. They made switching practices easy. I was previously driving over an hour but I'm so happy I changed. Friendly and fun staff and very thorough first appointment. I would highly recommend to anyone, especially anyone with anxieties about dental work.

I've been coming to Gentle Dentistry for 25 years and have always found the dentists to be caring and competent. Because of poor early dental hygiene and care, I have had to spend lots of time in the chair. And I can honestly say, the doctors and staff work tirelessly to insure I have a pleasant experience. I just had a clean and exam yesterday and Ashley, my hygienist, was just terrific! Kudos to Gentle Dentistry.

I have been to so many dentists over the years and have always had a lot of anxiety and stress over dentist visits. I have hated the dentist for my entire life, until I went to gentle dentistry. Gentle dentistry honestly changed my whole perspective on dentist visits. They take such good care of their patients, and go above and beyond to ensure that you're comfortable. I can't speak highly enough about the whole team, everyone I've interacted with has just treated me with compassion and care. Patient comfort is clearly a top priority for them, and it shows. If you hate the going to the dentist, go to this dentist and you'll no longer hate going to the dentist. Big thanks to everyone at Gentle Dentistry!
