February has been designated Gum Disease Awareness Month! Initially launched by the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry, its purpose is to raise awareness about gum disease and encourage healthy dental habits to prevent it.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), gum disease, also referred to as periodontitis, is the result of infections and inflammation of the gums and bone that surround and support the teeth. In the early stages, the gums can become swollen and red, and they may bleed. As it progresses, the gums can pull away from the tooth, which can eventually result in bone and tooth loss. Not only does gum disease affect your mouth, it can affect your body as well. Regular check-ups and good oral hygiene are important to ensure everything is healthy.
Periodontal disease is mostly seen in adults, with 47.2% of those aged 30 years and older having some form of it. This risk only increases with age. On top of age, there are many other risk factors that can increase your chance of developing gum disease. One of the primary risk factors is smoking, followed by poor oral hygiene, diabetes, stress, hormonal changes and medications that cause dry mouth.
While gum disease starts in the mouth, when left untreated, it can start affecting many other parts of the body as well. This includes respiratory disease, rheumatoid arthritis, coronary artery disease and diabetes.

Just want to preface this by saying I have spent my entire life in the dentist/orthodontics office, I've had braces twice. This was by far the WORST experience I've ever had. Went in for a wisdom tooth extraction. I've had one of them taken out before and my experience was completely painless and quick. This time, not so painless. The dentist started out by numbing me. He came back and started poking around, I could still feel the sharpness of his tool. So he goes back in with more numbing, only to have missed my gum and the needle slipped and hit my tooth. The numbing liquid got all in my mouth. He then goes to pull the tooth and I could feel everything. Him grabbing the tooth, and the tooth literally separating from the root. I was in tears from the pain. I will never recommend this place or go back. Absolutely traumatizing!

This has been the worst experience ever!!!! I went in because I needed dentures I was really nervous and didn't ask enough questions which is my fault. But they sure didn't explain anything either. I knew it wasn't going to be a same day but for it to take 6 months with appointment after appointment which I feel was really to see how many times they could bill my insurance. To finally get my dentures they should be perfect with the time they took with it, but they are trash, I can't even wear them they hurt so bad!!! I am so disappointed and upset. They make it seem like it's taking so long so they will fit great when I can't even wear them. Please if you need dentures find somewhere else to go, you will regret getting them here.

Kennedy and Lydia are amazing. They put you at such ease while in the chair. Plus, they are very efficient. Dr. Stahl does a great job and is very compassionate, easy going.

This place is great. Their crew is polite and professional. Doctor Stahl was the most thorough doctor to ever help me with my issues. If you need dental help, go see them. They want to help you! Update #1 After my first visit, it was apparent that I'm in need of several more. So, I'll be updating as I get each procedure done. First thing done and a little out of order for the work but I had a tooth bothering me so we scheduled an extraction. Easiest extraction I've had done. In and out, with no trouble yet very thorough. 5 Stars remain for now! Update #2 Had another tooth needing extracted and, once again, very quick and thorough. Thanks for your service! 5 stars remain!

So sorry I ever went to this place. I went in last year for a cleaning and instead, they took 17 X-rays and found 3 cavities. No cleaning. They scheduled my fillings for over a month later. They then rescheduled my appointment 5 times pushing it out many months later. I finally went in and they only had enough time to do 2 fillings. The 3rd was scheduled again over a month later. Finally I had all 3 filled. They scheduled my cleaning for 6 months later. I went in today and they wanted to do X-rays again. I said I just want a cleaning. They would not do it without X-rays. The dental assistant put some type of long metal instrument in my mouth which hurt the top of my mouth. I told her I did not want that in my mouth and she blurted out "Are you going to question every little thing I do"? I told her it was too painful and I was done. I just came today to get a cleaning. She told the dentist and he came over but I told him that I came in over a year ago and still haven't had a cleaning. I told him that it seemed to me they just wanted to do X-rays and do fillings with no cleaning. I said I was angry that everything was so painful at a place priding itself on being Gentle. I was done. I am going back to my old dentist who can give me cleanings twice a year and perform a filling a week or 2 after finding a cavity. I would NOT recommend this place at all.

I have been going to Greensburg gentle dentist for years. From the time I arrive to the time I leave they treat you with great customer service. From Shaun at the front desk , hygienist, dentist . Shaun explains your insurance. The hygienist makes sure your comfortable. The dentist explains your care. Thank you Dr. Stahl and your great staff

Awesome staff and dentist. Very professional and thorough. They took excellent care of me and I am set up for a cleaning next month at an affordable price. My fillings are the following month and they are going to fix my chipped front tooth and I am going for a whitening too. I am so grateful to have such an amazing team take care of my teeth. Plus they have just down the street from me. That's an added bonus. Thanks Gentle Dentist...you rock

I regret going to this office I have had 2 appointments with them in period of one year and both times left out of there in tears with nothing being done to help my situation. It took them 5 months to schedule me an appointment after I purchased dental insurance that they would accept. They are very difficult to work with and they dont explain anything and just expect you to follow what they decide and dont include your input not di they welcome it. Your opinion only makes them mad and your feeling inferior and uncomfortable every step of the appointment. Their lack of empathy is horrible and they do very little to help you understand treatment planning and do not welcome any input you want to offer.
