    Roderick Place was named COO of InterDent in 2017 and assumed Co-Leadership as Chief Executive Officer in 2018. Mr. Place has extensive experience transforming private equity backed healthcare companies through his strategic leadership, focus on operational excellence, clinical leadership collaboration, and structuring of field operations and corporate support teams. Mr. Place is also accomplished in leading boards and executive teams through expansive growth in mergers & acquisitions, DeNovo, due diligence and market consolidation. Before joining InterDent, Mr. Place served in executive level operations roles with Western Dental, MedQuest Associates and Alliance Healthcare. Mr. Place is also the Managing Director and Co-Founder of MedSummit Solutions, LLC. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Grand Valley State University.

    Matthew Wickesberg joined InterDent as EVP/CFO in 2016 and assumed Co-Leadership as Executive Vice Chairman two years later. In 2019, he was further elevated to Co-Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Wickesberg is an experienced board member, executive officer, and lender with a deep background in multi-site hospitality and healthcare industries. He is also experienced working with lending institutions and private equity firms through structuring capital, due diligence, mergers & acquisitions, and uncovering portfolio synergies. Prior to joining InterDent, Mr. Wickesberg served in various senior finance roles with HOA Restaurant Group, ZTejas, Inc., and GE Capital. Mr. Wickesberg received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Oklahoma State University and his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

    Dr. Heather Hawkins has committed her career to patient care while understanding current healthcare trends and value-based comprehensive care. Dr. Hawkins has an expansive clinical, academic and operational background, including leading medical-dental integration as well as quality and risk management for multi-site healthcare organizations. After 12 years of practicing general dentistry, she expanded her skills with several key roles in academia. In 2012 she joined the team at Adventist Health in Northern California, a multi-site health care organization with over 5,000 medical and dental staff physicians, as the Director of Quality. In her leadership role there, Dr. Hawkins led expansion and integration across the health system with medical and dental clinic management and an emphasis on comprehensive care models addressing patient risk factors, active disease and preventative measures. Dr. Hawkins earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from Nova Southeastern University in Florida and her Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certification from Virginia Commonwealth University.

    Dr. Manu Chaudhry has dedicated his career in the pursuit of dental health care, improving clinical quality and access to care, and transforming delivery of care to improve overall health outcomes. He is a dynamic and mission-driven leader with extensive leadership experience over multi-region dental practices, and has also founded multiple collaborative organizations that reduce oral and overall health disparities. Dr. Chaudhry is a board member of Healthier Kids Foundation and holds a Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of the Pacific.

    Sandra Lau is a seasoned legal adviser with over fourteen years experience acting as General Counsel of multiple dental healthcare corporations. Ms. Laus responsibilities include advising executive management, supporting strategic growth initiatives, overseeing all aspects of the corporate legal function including HIPAA, state and federal regulatory compliance, corporate transactions and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and risk and litigation management. Before Joining InterDent, Ms. Lau served as General Counsel at Western Dental. Ms. Lau holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Juris Doctor from Loyola Marymount University.

    Bernard Piccione has extensive experience across a wide range of industries delivering complex enterprise-scale information technology solutions to achieve major global business value and objectives. Mr. Piccione excels at driving sustainable business growth through IT modernization, solution development, and global transformation initiatives while building strong partnerships to better leverage technology solutions. Prior to joining InterDent, Mr. Piccione served as CIO for Ingenuity Advisory Partners, Inc., Complex Care Solutions, Inc., and MagnaCare. Mr. Piccione holds a Bachelors and Masters in Computer Science from Boston University.

    Darrin Kellaris is a senior marketing executive with over 20 years experience specializing in digital marketing, social media, and brand strategy. Mr. Kellaris offers a record of success in creating and driving marketing strategies that strengthen revenue, margins, and market share by elevating brand authenticity and relevance. At InterDent, he leads all aspects of marketing including digital and social media, brand positioning, and performance analytics. Prior to joining InterDent, he led marketing efforts at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and IHOP. Mr. Kellaris holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from San Diego State University.

    Diane Stern brings almost 20 years of dental services organizational experience specializing in organizational design and strategic partnering. Ms. Stern is responsible for Human Resources planning and strategy for recruiting, retention, benefits and performance management. She built her HR leadership experience through roles at Coast Dental, PrimeCo Wireless Communications and LabCorp where she focused on employee programs to increase engagement and satisfaction along with operational efficiencies. Ms. Stern holds a Bachelors degree in English Literature, Education, and Business from the University of Tampa and volunteers at KMR Group Foundation.

    The first visit was good, it was an emergency visit for trauma and they did a great job. 6 months later I return for a routine cleaning. They did a complete exam (same as the first visit) 'looking' for work that needed to be done. I told them I just wanted the cleaning that was scheduled. THEY HAD NO DENTAL HYGIENIST! Dr. Liu ended up providing me with a two minute cleaning! Guess he was upset that I did not agree to his specialty...COSMETICS! Time to find a real dentist.

    This dental office is the best we have ever been to. Everyone here is very nice and helpful and the dentists are indeed gentle. It's dental work so there is naturally some pain but this is the best "and YES gentlest" option we have ever had. They will take good care of you!

    Due to Covid, I had not been to this office for 3 years. I kept meaning to go in, but things just came up. Well, I lost a filling this week. Right in the front. I called and was seen right away. Since I needed a check up anyway, I had them take X Rays. I needed my tooth fixed and had one other cavity! I had to get a crown yesterday. The experience was so much better than I expected. The entire staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this office.

    Dr. David Liu is amazing! So glad I found him literally best dentist ever!! If I move I will for sure travel to see him he's totes worth it!!

    I just had 9 teeth removed. I had a lot of concerns about the process, the dentures that I would need, the fit and look afterwards. Well, it all went so much better than I ever expected. Doctor Liu, the hygienist Leslie and assistants Ray & Lisa were outstanding. One week later the sutures are out and healing beautifully. The dentures fit great, tight and comfortable. They also look very nice. For all the negative thoughts I had I could not be happier with the results. Thank you Doctor Liu and all the rest of the staff. Rick Eckel

    Had my first visit to this dentist, and had a great experience. Had a check out, and a cleaning, was in and out, and they didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. Everyone was nice and helpful, but the dental assistant was super sweet and kind, and made it my best dental experience, ever.

    The dentist currently working in this office has the WORST chairside manners. She wants to dictate and control what you talk about, if she doesn't like it, she yells and scolds. This includes conversations that she was not a part of. This is unacceptable behavior from any professional!!! In her case, she is far from professional. If she treats the patients like this, I can't imagine how she treats the staff in the office. My root canal was the test run for my family's new dentist, 7 of us plus 2 grandmas. It's a definite NO! I will say the office staff I dealt with was awesome. Dental assistant was amazing, super nice.

    Horrible experience. I waited for 2 months to to be seen by the dentist, after they did xray and measurement they just told me they can't do the cleaning today because they don't have time and I need to make another appointment. Front desk are not helpful to me atleast.

    So extremely disappointed in this company as a whole. I've had many issues with this company in the past but due to location there's not a lot of options. In the past, as others have written, the dentist will call out, just not show up or literally just stop working there so constantly having to deal with scheduling issues with this specific clinic. Today though was the last straw for my family. Was told by the Tehachapi clinic that my child had four teeth that would need to be removed and that we'd have to go to Bakersfield to have it done because for some reason there's never any dentist there to handle appointments. Was told including insurance that our bill would be $15/tooth. My husband travels down there and immediately upon walking in the door he's advised it will cost around $140 for them to be pulled. Child is waiting for over an hour and when he was sent back they began doing X-rays despite the fact that Tehachapi clinic already knew which teeth were needing to be pulled. Husband asks why they're doing more X-rays and they said because the ones at the Tehachapi clinic are theirs and Bakersfield will have to create their own. WHO IN THE HELL DOES THAT?! So a referral does not include transfer of files now? News to me. After TWO more sets of X-rays (because now professionals can't read the ones I'm sure they'll charge us for..) my husband just grabbed our kid and left because it's clear the ineptitude isn't just limited to the Tehachapi clinic. The Gentle Dental company as a whole needs a honest evaluation of how it handles its customers and billing. This is the most ridiculous company I've ever dealt with. I will never get dental work performed there ever again and will have to stick out the orthodontics until my kids no longer are tied down to this company.

    The WORST dentist office ever. Dentist pulled wrong tooth and then still is trying to Bill me for the Bill. What kind of dentist doesn't even know what tooth to pull. Horrible customer service. I DO NOT recommend. Run the other way fast!!!

    After my mom waited for three weeks to get in, they got her in only to tell her the dentist had an emergency and would have to come back. They rescheduled her appointment for 2 weeks . After I complained that she was 90 years old and she already was in the office when she was told to come back another day, she should not have to wait another 2 weeks. They gave her an earlier appointment at 8:00 am . We were half way there, traveling through snow , only to get a call at 7:45 , 15 minutes before her appointment to cancel once again. They stated that the dentist was sick . Seems like they need to get what ever is happening under control . First dentist has an emergency, patient told to go home and then on the day of New Years Eve the doctor doesn't realize he's sick 15 min. Prior to his appointment . Seems like patients inconvenience is not an issue with this doctor . For us, 2 strikes your out !

    Dr. Avcikurt seemed off. His hand was shacking so bad he kept dropping things. His speech was shaky. I could not tell if he was slurring his words or had a speech impediment. A simple fix / filling . Now I am in worse pain than before I went. Going to a different dentist. Beware!!

    Wondering if this office will be here in the next six months. Apparently only open Tuesday and closed the rest of the week. Having issues with a crown on my front eye tooth. I believe crown is to big and is causing me to bite my tongue, inside cheeks, and lips. Can't get an emergency appointment at all. Can't find any other dentist that take my insurance to touch the crown siting teeth are too crooked. Need help in extreme pain!
