Roderick Place was named COO of InterDent in 2017 and assumed Co-Leadership as Chief Executive Officer in 2018. Mr. Place has extensive experience transforming private equity backed healthcare companies through his strategic leadership, focus on operational excellence, clinical leadership collaboration, and structuring of field operations and corporate support teams. Mr. Place is also accomplished in leading boards and executive teams through expansive growth in mergers & acquisitions, DeNovo, due diligence and market consolidation. Before joining InterDent, Mr. Place served in executive level operations roles with Western Dental, MedQuest Associates and Alliance Healthcare. Mr. Place is also the Managing Director and Co-Founder of MedSummit Solutions, LLC. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Grand Valley State University.
Matthew Wickesberg joined InterDent as EVP/CFO in 2016 and assumed Co-Leadership as Executive Vice Chairman two years later. In 2019, he was further elevated to Co-Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Wickesberg is an experienced board member, executive officer, and lender with a deep background in multi-site hospitality and healthcare industries. He is also experienced working with lending institutions and private equity firms through structuring capital, due diligence, mergers & acquisitions, and uncovering portfolio synergies. Prior to joining InterDent, Mr. Wickesberg served in various senior finance roles with HOA Restaurant Group, ZTejas, Inc., and GE Capital. Mr. Wickesberg received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Oklahoma State University and his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Dr. Heather Hawkins has committed her career to patient care while understanding current healthcare trends and value-based comprehensive care. Dr. Hawkins has an expansive clinical, academic and operational background, including leading medical-dental integration as well as quality and risk management for multi-site healthcare organizations. After 12 years of practicing general dentistry, she expanded her skills with several key roles in academia. In 2012 she joined the team at Adventist Health in Northern California, a multi-site health care organization with over 5,000 medical and dental staff physicians, as the Director of Quality. In her leadership role there, Dr. Hawkins led expansion and integration across the health system with medical and dental clinic management and an emphasis on comprehensive care models addressing patient risk factors, active disease and preventative measures. Dr. Hawkins earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from Nova Southeastern University in Florida and her Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certification from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Manu Chaudhry has dedicated his career in the pursuit of dental health care, improving clinical quality and access to care, and transforming delivery of care to improve overall health outcomes. He is a dynamic and mission-driven leader with extensive leadership experience over multi-region dental practices, and has also founded multiple collaborative organizations that reduce oral and overall health disparities. Dr. Chaudhry is a board member of Healthier Kids Foundation and holds a Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of the Pacific.
Sandra Lau is a seasoned legal adviser with over fourteen years experience acting as General Counsel of multiple dental healthcare corporations. Ms. Laus responsibilities include advising executive management, supporting strategic growth initiatives, overseeing all aspects of the corporate legal function including HIPAA, state and federal regulatory compliance, corporate transactions and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and risk and litigation management. Before Joining InterDent, Ms. Lau served as General Counsel at Western Dental. Ms. Lau holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Juris Doctor from Loyola Marymount University.
Bernard Piccione has extensive experience across a wide range of industries delivering complex enterprise-scale information technology solutions to achieve major global business value and objectives. Mr. Piccione excels at driving sustainable business growth through IT modernization, solution development, and global transformation initiatives while building strong partnerships to better leverage technology solutions. Prior to joining InterDent, Mr. Piccione served as CIO for Ingenuity Advisory Partners, Inc., Complex Care Solutions, Inc., and MagnaCare. Mr. Piccione holds a Bachelors and Masters in Computer Science from Boston University.
Darrin Kellaris is a senior marketing executive with over 20 years experience specializing in digital marketing, social media, and brand strategy. Mr. Kellaris offers a record of success in creating and driving marketing strategies that strengthen revenue, margins, and market share by elevating brand authenticity and relevance. At InterDent, he leads all aspects of marketing including digital and social media, brand positioning, and performance analytics. Prior to joining InterDent, he led marketing efforts at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and IHOP. Mr. Kellaris holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from San Diego State University.
Diane Stern brings almost 20 years of dental services organizational experience specializing in organizational design and strategic partnering. Ms. Stern is responsible for Human Resources planning and strategy for recruiting, retention, benefits and performance management. She built her HR leadership experience through roles at Coast Dental, PrimeCo Wireless Communications and LabCorp where she focused on employee programs to increase engagement and satisfaction along with operational efficiencies. Ms. Stern holds a Bachelors degree in English Literature, Education, and Business from the University of Tampa and volunteers at KMR Group Foundation.

We have been with Gentle Dental in Surprise Az for our daughters ortho care for the last couple of years but have recently moved over to their Palm valley office in Goodyear Az because their hours work better for us. I just have to say Allie ( in billing) and Dr Paul have been amazing. Allie(sp?) has worked with us to make the next step of getting Invisalign for our daughter affordable, which is greatly appreciated and has even worked with us on the monthly payments. Our situation is a little different because we are getting ready to leave the country for awhile. So Dr Paul is working hard to get everything done before we leave and then typically with braces/invisalign you have to go in for follow ups every so many weeks but because of our situation Dr Paul is making it to where we can come in on our time ( within reason), this is a huge stress relieve because we really didn't want to wait until we come back to the states to get the process started. The staff is so nice and understanding, they are willing to work with their patients, which you don't see often. The office is also nice and clean, kind of has a homey feeling to it, maybe its because Dr Paul and the staff don't treat you like a money maker for them. I highly recommend Gentle Dental Palm Valley

The entire staff is awesome! They are very professional and personable! Two individuals I'd like to specifically call out are Tiffany and Gilbert. Tiffany is always extremely helpful and such a pleasure to work with! Gilbert makes getting my teeth cleaned a pleasant experience and he has advice to share regarding my home care and somehow manages to make it fun!

New to AZ and had a miserable experience at a different dental office so I arrived at Gentle Dental with over the top anxiety. As I completed new patient paperwork I listened to departing patient comments. Every patient, and I'm not exaggerating, was full of compliments for every staff member. My name is Christy and I've been a pt. Of different gentle dentals in the area and i can honestly say I am so done with gentle dental. There is nothing gentle about them, Dr. Joh has done two deep fillings on me both requiring root canals on an emergency basis. And the last deep filling landed me in the hospital with the worst tooth, mouth, and overall infection that I now have to see an oral surgeon to fix. Don't waste your money or time on them. Find a better dentist your teeth will thank you.

This office is worthy of NO STARS! Nothing But Problems With A Simple Crown Precedure 9 Months Ago. Went Back 3 Times & Recieved No Satisfaction. The Doctor After The 3rd Time Wasn't Interested & Rushed On To another Patient. Ended Up Going Somewhere Else & Getting It Fixed Correctly.

Dentist offices had made me nervous for years! When I started to have a toothache I started my hunt for a good dentist office. This location had so many good reviews how gentle and caring the staff was. I needed a root canal and all the girls helped me calm my nerves and Dr. Joh was very patient and understanding of my fears and anxiety behind the procedure. He checked in with me throughout the procedure to make sure I wasn't feeling any discomfort. I went back for a cleaning when I got my permanent crown on and the Hygentist Gilbert lived up to all the wonderful reviews he has. Very friendly and explains things so you understand. My anxiety about the Dentist is gone thanks to this staff! Dr. Joh, Gilbert, Kayla and all the other girls I had met there are wonderful people. Let all these fantastic reviews tell you, trust these people and go in for your 6 month cleaning :)

Amazing office. Been going here for YEARS. Everyone here has always been so nice and welcoming. Gilbert has been my dentist throughout my entire time of being here and sadly he is retiring soon. I will still recommend this place because of everyone else, however Gilbert leaving really sucks!

I have been terrified of going to the dentist for many years. I read the reviews here and decided to give it a shot. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and Gilbert did an amazing job during my visit. He listened to my concerns and went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable throughout my cleaning. Because of Gilbert and the amazing staff, I no longer have anxiety before my appt. The staff over at the Palm Valley Gentle Dental location is top notch, I mean a real cut above the rest. All of the staff are very professional, they take the time to explain the procedure(s) to you, as well as, provide additional information on how to care for your oral health. I am extremely impressed with the level of service, and I look forward to going to the dentist now. Gilbert (Hygienist) is amazing and the front staff is stupendous. They answered all of my questions with respect to billing, treated me with respect and had an abundant amount of patience with me. They truly go above, and beyond with scheduling and explaining billing process to you. Thanks Gentle Dental, you gals and guys are true to the name :)

I've been to this location a few times and I must say the service is top notch. Gilbert, the Hygienist, I can't say enough great things about him. He's is amazing, very professional and excellent with his job. The front desk ladies, as well, are always so delightful and happy to help. Love that they all give a great big beautiful smile all the time! It makes my day and it makes me comfortable and at ease. Kudos to this wonderful team!
