Roderick Place was named COO of InterDent in 2017 and assumed Co-Leadership as Chief Executive Officer in 2018. Mr. Place has extensive experience transforming private equity backed healthcare companies through his strategic leadership, focus on operational excellence, clinical leadership collaboration, and structuring of field operations and corporate support teams. Mr. Place is also accomplished in leading boards and executive teams through expansive growth in mergers & acquisitions, DeNovo, due diligence and market consolidation. Before joining InterDent, Mr. Place served in executive level operations roles with Western Dental, MedQuest Associates and Alliance Healthcare. Mr. Place is also the Managing Director and Co-Founder of MedSummit Solutions, LLC. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Grand Valley State University.
Matthew Wickesberg joined InterDent as EVP/CFO in 2016 and assumed Co-Leadership as Executive Vice Chairman two years later. In 2019, he was further elevated to Co-Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Wickesberg is an experienced board member, executive officer, and lender with a deep background in multi-site hospitality and healthcare industries. He is also experienced working with lending institutions and private equity firms through structuring capital, due diligence, mergers & acquisitions, and uncovering portfolio synergies. Prior to joining InterDent, Mr. Wickesberg served in various senior finance roles with HOA Restaurant Group, ZTejas, Inc., and GE Capital. Mr. Wickesberg received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Oklahoma State University and his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Dr. Heather Hawkins has committed her career to patient care while understanding current healthcare trends and value-based comprehensive care. Dr. Hawkins has an expansive clinical, academic and operational background, including leading medical-dental integration as well as quality and risk management for multi-site healthcare organizations. After 12 years of practicing general dentistry, she expanded her skills with several key roles in academia. In 2012 she joined the team at Adventist Health in Northern California, a multi-site health care organization with over 5,000 medical and dental staff physicians, as the Director of Quality. In her leadership role there, Dr. Hawkins led expansion and integration across the health system with medical and dental clinic management and an emphasis on comprehensive care models addressing patient risk factors, active disease and preventative measures. Dr. Hawkins earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from Nova Southeastern University in Florida and her Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certification from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Manu Chaudhry has dedicated his career in the pursuit of dental health care, improving clinical quality and access to care, and transforming delivery of care to improve overall health outcomes. He is a dynamic and mission-driven leader with extensive leadership experience over multi-region dental practices, and has also founded multiple collaborative organizations that reduce oral and overall health disparities. Dr. Chaudhry is a board member of Healthier Kids Foundation and holds a Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of the Pacific.
Sandra Lau is a seasoned legal adviser with over fourteen years experience acting as General Counsel of multiple dental healthcare corporations. Ms. Laus responsibilities include advising executive management, supporting strategic growth initiatives, overseeing all aspects of the corporate legal function including HIPAA, state and federal regulatory compliance, corporate transactions and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and risk and litigation management. Before Joining InterDent, Ms. Lau served as General Counsel at Western Dental. Ms. Lau holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Juris Doctor from Loyola Marymount University.
Bernard Piccione has extensive experience across a wide range of industries delivering complex enterprise-scale information technology solutions to achieve major global business value and objectives. Mr. Piccione excels at driving sustainable business growth through IT modernization, solution development, and global transformation initiatives while building strong partnerships to better leverage technology solutions. Prior to joining InterDent, Mr. Piccione served as CIO for Ingenuity Advisory Partners, Inc., Complex Care Solutions, Inc., and MagnaCare. Mr. Piccione holds a Bachelors and Masters in Computer Science from Boston University.
Darrin Kellaris is a senior marketing executive with over 20 years experience specializing in digital marketing, social media, and brand strategy. Mr. Kellaris offers a record of success in creating and driving marketing strategies that strengthen revenue, margins, and market share by elevating brand authenticity and relevance. At InterDent, he leads all aspects of marketing including digital and social media, brand positioning, and performance analytics. Prior to joining InterDent, he led marketing efforts at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and IHOP. Mr. Kellaris holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from San Diego State University.
Diane Stern brings almost 20 years of dental services organizational experience specializing in organizational design and strategic partnering. Ms. Stern is responsible for Human Resources planning and strategy for recruiting, retention, benefits and performance management. She built her HR leadership experience through roles at Coast Dental, PrimeCo Wireless Communications and LabCorp where she focused on employee programs to increase engagement and satisfaction along with operational efficiencies. Ms. Stern holds a Bachelors degree in English Literature, Education, and Business from the University of Tampa and volunteers at KMR Group Foundation.

Great experience! Dr Lee runs this clinic like his own, and you can tell he cares. I really appreciated them explaining my options, being flexible with scheduling and thorough in the work. I had 3 filings and my first crown done- all painless and easy. In my 30 years going to a dentist - Dr Lee was first to tell me to relax my tongue and cheeks and breath through my nose - so simple, yet effective.

I came here needing a crown and it was the best experience I've ever had at the dentist, (and I've had numerous crowns done). The girls are all very nice and Dr Lee is the best dentist I've ever seen. He explains things so clearly you feel at ease and he does not pressure you. I highly recommend him.

A good dentist can be hard to find, but I lucked out on the first try here! Dr. Lee is very friendly, and literally gives meaning to the word, "gentle" when it comes to his dental work. I had 2 cavity fillings done in one appointment, and have zero pain or issues whatsoever. Dr.Lee himself even texted me the following day to see how my teeth were feeling. The staff here are friendly, nice, and ensure your experience is comfortable. Also Lindsey the hygienist does great work and is also careful to ensure your comfort during teeth cleanings. This Gentle Dental office is absolutely the best!! Each time I have gone in for my appointments, they were always on time and everyone is so nice and wonderful. Dr. Lee and his staff are the best!! Dr. Lee is very patient and kind and he explains everything so well. Each time I go in I feel comfortable and at ease. I can't recommend Dr. Lee and his staff enough!

Absolutely a wonderful staff and Dr. This was definitely a place to smile. The staff just was awesome, answered questions, and was really helpful making the next appointment. The girls up front make sure to acknowledge you if having to wait. The Dr, my first time meeting her, I love, not in a creepy way. She's very direct and friendly.

This is my third visit, every time I've been impressed with not only the quality of care but the reasonable and pragmatic approach to long-term dental Care they provide. Unlike other offices that I have been to, where I felt there was an equal desire to provide dental care along with an increase to their sales, this office is different. Here they discuss what does and does not make sense, and take a long-term patient-centric approach. Dr Lee and the hygienists are top quality.

After moving to a new town, I decided to go to Gentle Dental since it was just a couple of minutes from my new home. I expected it to be like any other previous dental place I visited: long waits in the lobby and minimal conversation with the staff. It wasn't either of those! Every time I've visited, I've never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes to be seen and the staff is very friendly. They also texted me a week before my appointment to confirm it, then again the day of my appointment, which I appreciate because I'm forgetful. I recently had a nightguard made and retainer removed and the dentist/staff was happy to answer all of my questions. It didn't seem like they were trying to rush me out of there, it felt like they cared about my experience. After I got the nightguard and retainer, I had to go back to get it fitted. The staff made sure I was comfortable with it before leaving. I also got a follow up text the next day asking how my first night with the nightguard and retainer went and whether I had any issues with it. I had to pay out of pocket for some of the costs that insurance wouldn't cover, but the front desk was very transparent of what the total cost would be before booking the appointment. If you're looking for a new dental place, go here!

Really appreciate Dr. Lee! He explains what is going on with your teeth in layman terms and options for treatment. Explaining the Pros and Cons in a manner that feels Like he is on your side in the decision. Highly recommend Dr. Lee if you are looking for a dentist that cares for your needs now and for your longterm health!

Recently moved to Happy Valley and was new to this office. Dr Lee and the employees at this location are so friendly! Had my cleaning and another appointment for two small cavities. It was a quick and painless process with Dr Lee giving updates during the process so I was aware how close we were to completing. Scheduling was easy too with a variety if time slots to choose from so I did not have to miss work.

I have been taking my family to Dr. Lee at his practice in happy valley for almost 6 years now. Great service from him and his staff. They have always taken cared of my kids when we have dental needs. Finding the right dentist is as hard as finding a good primary care Dr., once you find one you are golden. Dr. Lee is very trustworthy and has earned my trust back in dentistry. After bad experiences with other dentists, trying to give me crowns that were not needed and poor mouth guards, I was very surprised with his care. Not only did he save my teeth, but he found the most affordable options and greatly listened to me. I wouldn't go to anyone else!

I went to this particular Gentle Dental due to all the wonderfully positive reviews and I am so happy I did! Scheduling an appointment was easy as everyone on the phone was so nice and informative. Once my appointment began, the front office employee told me about a discount program to those who do not have insurance, like myself. It was very reassuring that no one "shamed" me for not having insurance! Dr. Lee and I made a plan of highest priority issues to lowest and, again, made sure not to overwhelm me with information or costs! During my next appointment (to get a cavity filled), everyone made sure I was comfortable and didn't feel a thing! I wish I went here sooner!!!! Thank you!
