In addition, we use advanced technology, like the DryShielddevice and intraoral cameras, to make your diagnosis and treatments accurate and efficient, and we are prepared to address a wide variety of oral health problems.
Dr. Michael Onyekaba (Dr. Michael) was born in St. Paul and grew up in the northern Minneapolis suburb of Andover. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota. Then he decided to head out east to Boston, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
While at Tufts, he received training in general dentistry, oral surgery, periodontal disease, restorative dentistry, crown and bridge, implants and cosmetic dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the Minneapolis District Dental Society. Dr. Michael lives in Minneapolis. He enjoys sports, being social, outdoor activities, running, and spending time with friends and family.
Mary is a licensed dental assistant and our #1 front desk/receptionist. She has been in the dental industry since 1990 and started with Gentle Dental Eagan in September of 2013. She and her husband live on a turkey farm south of the cities. Her hobbies include helping out her two daughters, combining in the fall (yes...she drives the combine), helping around the farm, gardening (she has two greenhouses), and going to her cabin in the woods. She is an avid Purple Martin enthusiast with multiple houses that she monitors daily.
Kaitee is a 2011 Century College graduate in dental assisting. She genuinely cares about her patient's needs and their oral health. She strives to provide a comfortable environment and maintain the standards that Dr. Michael has in place. She takes great pride in her ability to help deliver fantastic results for her patients. Outside of the office, Kaitee enjoys spending time with her husband and their five children, sporting events, the outdoors, scrapbooking, and when time permits, coffee and a good movie on Netflix.

Everyone who works here is incredibly kind and fantastic at their job. They talk you through what they're doing, constantly check in to make sure you're doing okay, and weave in education at the adult and kid level. 10/10 recommend

I have been coming here for many years. Dr. Mike is awesome! Made fillings easy and not stressful. Staff is always friendly and always wanting to answer any questions or concerns you may have. They are down to earth, won't judge you for any reason, and make coming to the dentist easy. They can get rid of any anxiety you may have about coming to the dentist.

This dentist office is anything but gentle. BEWARE. I asked if they would use gas for the crown I needed put on and I was told that they typically don't do that because they want me to feel how the crown feels when they put it on. Mind you, they didn't use novacaine either. I clinched my entire body as they applied some liquid to my tooth to secure the crown. Not only that but the best part of the story is that I asked for a prescription to help with my tooth pain. Tooth pain that wouldn't allow me to eat or drink anything even slightly a different temperature than my aching tooth. Dr mike had me drive back to the office to pick up a paper prescription which I went to the pharmacy to fill and I was told he didn't sign the prescription or put his number on it and the walgreens pharmacist told me he has banned dr Mike from prescribing there now. That was after I waited for an hour for it to be filled. I really hope anyone thinking of going to this dentist will just NOT. choose a professional dentist office where they know what they are doing and don't get banned from filling prescriptions at walgreens(the most widely used pharmacy).

I always have a great experience with Dr. Mike and his staff! When I first started at Gentle Dental, my teeth were in tough shape. Since then, things have improved dramatically! Finally, I don't dread going to the dentist!

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Mike and the team at Gentle Dental Eagan! They live up to the name (truly gentle and caring). I've had a root canal, cleanings and fillings, and have felt completely comfortable during every visit. Dr. Mike is top notch in terms of his knowledge, quality of work, interactions with patients and his staff, and professionalism. Whether you're a coward or the bravest of patients, you will be in good hands with Gentle Dental Eagan!

Shady billing practices, went in for my regular teeth cleaning and my insurance gets billed for a procedure, with a copay from me, to where it should have been free. Than I cancel an appointment, and I get charged $50.00 without ever being told or agreeing to a cancelation fee. STAY AWAY, FIND A BETTER DENTIST!!!

Dr Mike is great! From routine check ups to more extensive work, he makes the process as easy as possible. I, like many others, have anxiety relating to dental work. Since coming to Gentle Dental and having a professional that cares and understands, I am very comfortable and my anxiety relating to dental visits is much much better!

It pains me to have to review this location so low, but after the turning of ownership a fair review seems prudent. I have been going to this dentist for nearly 25 years- since the early days of Dr. Fuller's practice. I have never had a bad experience with the procedures done, nor the faculty members who worked within the building. However, the last two visits I have had since the new ownership have taken over have been disappointing to say the least. In the Summer 2021 I had be suggested to receive a night time mouthguard to protect my teeth from my grinding. The doctor said that they would reach out in a few days for a quote. A week later, no call yet so I contacted them. The front desk receptionist responded in a very condescending tone stating that "they will contact me when they get more information. That the doctor has other things he's working on and can't do that right now". Okay, fine, I thought, they are busy I get that. I wait another week and still have not received a call- so I followed up again and received a similar response. I waited an additional two weeks and attempted a call back but did not receive an answer this time. 6 months later I have not heard anything about the mouth guard to prevent nocturnal grinding. At this point, winter of 2022, I was scheduled for an appointment on a Wednesday. I had my appointment confirmed and received text confirmation of this. That morning I received a brief text message from the number stating that they had to cancel my appointment and would call soon to reschedule. I never received a call to reschedule or to even confirm my appointment being canceled. I called twice that morning/early afternoon, leaving a voicemail stressing my concern and attempting to gain confirmation of the information but received no answer nor no call back. Two hours before my scheduled appointment, I received a text from the same number saying my appointment was still a go at the schedule time. I followed this up with another call, but did not get an answer or a call back. Unfortunately, after two-plus decades of high satisfaction at this dental location, I can no longer trust in the brand of Gentle Dental. I respect the lead doctor, Dr. Mike, there and he truly does great work, but these past few instances of unprofessional behavior make it difficult to take the company seriously and to feel respected as a customer. I will be taking my dental needs elsewhere from here on out. Update- 5 days after my cancellation, I still have not received a call back or response as to when to reschedule.

I highly recommend Gentle Dental. You will love Dr. Mike! He is professional and detail-oriented, as well as compassionate and honest. My cleaning and exam were very thorough and all of the staff was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable and personable. Vanessa the hygienist makes sure to tell you what she's doing before she does it so you know what to expect. The staff makes sure you are comfortable throughout your visit and that all of your questions are answered. There are lots of COVID precautions in place to make you feel safe. Also, the office is super modern- I watched TV from the dental chair, and they can even take photos of your teeth with a tiny camera to help explain to you what's going on in your mouth!
