Dr. Allen Seel called Michigan his home for his entire life, and called Gentle Dental Associates home for more than 18 years. His passion for comprehensive care, with an emphasis on cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers, was his trademark as our senior dentist.
Dr. Seel did his undergraduate work at the University of Detroit for three years before being accepted to the dental program at the University of Detroit School of Dentistry from which he graduated in 1962. He then became an associate in a practice in Detroit for eight months before he started his own practice in Dearborn in 1963. He continued to practice alone for many years until the practice grew into the need for two associates who later became his partners. The growing practice moved to a larger facility until 1991 when Dr. Seel sold the practice to his partners. In 1991 he bought a practice in Ypsilanti and founded Gentle Dental Associates, which moved to its current location in Ann Arbor in 1997.
Dr. Seels commitment to continuing education led him to complete more than 2700 hours in advanced dental education. While he no longer practiced dentistry, he served as a mentor for the dentists he had assembled to service the needs of the patients in his busy office.
Dr. Seel was happily married to Phyllis, a psychologist, for more than 51 years. Their daughter, Robin, is married to Jeff. They also share two sons Brad, and David, married to Deborah. The family has grown through the years to now include ten grandchildren Josh, Rebecca, Alexandra, Mathew, Noah, Jake, Madison, Jack, Lillie, and Sophia.
I believe that compassion, empathy, tenderness, honesty, and skill contribute equally to treatment. The entire team at Gentle Dental Associates reflects this notion, and I am proud to be a part of this team. Dr. Hwang
Dr. Debby Hwang practices full-time as an American Board of Periodontology-certified periodontist and implant surgeon. Her particular interests are dental implant and conservative therapy. She is the chief editor of Implant Site Development, a well-regarded textbook on dental implantology. A lecturer and author, Dr. Hwang keeps abreast of diagnostic, therapeutic, and research innovations in her field through hands-on courses and contributes to peer-review journals. Dr. Hwang maintains an active membership in the American Academy of Periodontology.
After earning her doctorate, cum laude, from the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Hwang completed her periodontal residency at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, which honored her with the Sigurd P. Ramfjord Award for Excellence. The American Academy of Periodontology privileged her with a scholarship as well as a nomination for the Dr. and Mrs. Gerald M. Kramer Scholar Award for Excellence. Dr. Hwang remains an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology.
Raised in Michigan, Dr. Hwang lives in and loves Ann Arbor and feels that it is a privilege to care for patients here. Dr. Hwang spends time outside of private practice traveling, honing her Mandarin Chinese, catching up on television series, reading essays, and tending to her family and pet cat.

I have been going to Gentle Dental for years. Dr. Debbie is quick and efficient at my appointments. I believe that the care I receive is going to help me keep my teeth healthy for the rest of my life. In addition, I recently had a filling replaced by Dr. Wang and I didn't feel a thing! I didn't even have that after the dentist numbness! What a pleasant surprise.

Amazing place and operation. So thorough, kind, and efficient. Doctor and assistant were wonderful. Performed much needed extraction on my senior mother. No messing around. Took half an hour and my mom didn't even feel it.

Gental Dental Associates is the best dental provider in Michigan area. I have been seeing Dr Hwang and other dentists for many years. It is always a pleasant experience during the visit. I strongly recommand this place to anyone who is looking for the dental care.

Very pleased with the care I received! I had an emergency tooth pain and they were able to get me in within 1 hour of my call and when I arrived no waiting time. Dr. Debbie and her assistant took excellent care of me. Got an X-ray and had a tooth infection and the pain was excruciating. Dr. Debbie numbed the tooth and prescribed antibiotics and already have an appointment to get it pulled since it already had a root canal/crown years ago. I am so thankful for such quick action so that my pain could subside so it is tolerable. Thanks again Gentle Dental
