Dr. Gavin Millerwas born in Cape Town, South Africa and resided in Johannesburg. Dr. Miller graduated Dental School from Witswatersrand University in 1986. He spenttwelve years in private practice in Sandton City, South Africa before relocating to San Diego in 1998.
Dr. Millercompletes hundreds of hours in continuing education each year ensuring that he offers the best quality and most advanced techniques to his patients. He offers all aspects of general dentistry, family dentistry, and exceptional aesthetics to his patients. Dr. Miller recently completed the prestigious UCLA School of Dentistry Aesthetic Continuum further advancing his knowledge in this special field. When he is not practicing dentistry,Dr. Millerkeeps himself in shape by swimming competitively, enjoying a healthy lifestyle, and maximizing time with his wife Wendy, and three daughters Carli, Jody,& Robyn.

Dr.Shawna Fariba was born and raised in San Diego. She developed a love for working with people early on, and has since striven to find a career in which she could better the lives of others daily. Dr. Fariba studied psychobiology at UC Davis, and further cultivated her passion for art, medicine, and patient care by completing her dental training at University of Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco.
Dr. Fariba sincerely understands the importance of a gentle touch. She has had the opportunity to refine her dental skills with continuing education courses, as well as actively participating in volunteer work with mission trips to lower income countries. Dr. Fariba is dedicated to her patients and could not be more excited be a part of the team.
In her free time, Dr. Fariba enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, snowboarding, and hitting the San Diego surf. Dr. Fariba loves traveling, counting Barcelona, Greece, and Italy, to be among her favorite destinations. Anyone who has met Dr. Fariba knows shes a huge foodie and will always take any opportunity to try a new restaurant. Above all, Dr. Fariba finds the chance to spend time with her family, and especially spoiling her niece, to be the most fulfilling part of being in her hometown that holds such a special place in her heart.

Not an established patient I had a dental emergency (broken tooth) and they got me in promptly. The staff was welcoming and friendly and made doing the necessary paperwork easy. Dr. Miller and his staff took the time to do a full and proper job on the damaged tooth (not just slapping on a temporary cap and come back when we've got an open time) and laid out a full plan for proper compete restoration. I cannot recommend them highly enough for their professionalism and will be recommending to all my friends and colleagues.

Great experience at La Jolla Dentistry!! Very helpful and friendly staff with a positive attitude! They answered all of my questions and put me at ease with my concerns. They also came up with a plan to meet all of my dental needs and assisted with referrals. I would highly recommend La Jolla Dentistry!! Definitely made me smile!! Thank you!!

I've been going to Gavin for 20 years and have recommended many, many people to his practice. They have gone from strength to strength, continuously adopting new technologies and always improving. I absolutely love my dentist! I have been coming here for about two years and every single time I go in I get warm welcomes by the most friendly ladies at the front desk, my amazing dentist Dr. Fariba, her assistant, and my hygienist! I've had crowns done, along with fillings, regular cleanings, and I also just completed Sure Smile (like Invisalign). Every one of those appointments have gone very smooth and I have never had any issues with my teeth post visits. They always answer all of my questions honestly. I used to fear the dentist, but now I enjoy coming to La Jolla Dentistry!
