Marcus grew up in both Bountiful, Utah and then Chicago, Illinois. He developed a passionate devotion to the Bulls and Chicago style hot dogs and deep dish pizza. He served a two year mission for the LDS church in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
He attended Brigham Young University for his undergraduate studies, where he met and married the love of his life, Turia. They lived in Richmond, Virginia where Marcus attended dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University graduating in 2008. They then moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for his dental residency. Along the way they welcomed three spirited and adventurous children into the world.
The Pope family enjoyed the beaches, forests and wild blackberries of Washington State for many years while Marcus practiced dentistry with Kaiser Permanente. When the opportunity presented itself in 2018, they decided to return to Utah to be closer to family and the mountains they love best.
The dental office isnt the most comfortable to place to be. I know that. I try to make coming here as enjoyable as possible. With good information, explanations, and a bit of laughter, hopefully patients will have a different experience coming to Gateway Dentistry. This is my goal as a practitioner. - Dr Pope
