Dr. Patterson is a lifelong native of the Ohio Valley, growing up in Steubenville, Ohio, and living in and serving the tri-state area his entire life. After graduating from Steubenville High School, he attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Patterson received his dental education from University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, receiving his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree in 1977. His post-graduate residency was at the University of Pittsburgh Health Center Hospitals.
Dr. Gary T. Patterson joined in practice with Dr. Tony Giannini in 1998 in his hometown of Steubenville, Ohio. He has since been serving patients throughout the tri-state area of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Prior to joining the practice, Dr. Patterson served as an assistant professor of surgery in the Pittsburgh University School of Medicine, Department of Surgery. During his tenure, he also served as interim department chairman in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
Throughout his career, Dr. Patterson has served as a member of many professional and scientific societies. He has had more than 50 publications, 65 invited lectures and presentations, and has been awarded multiple research grants. He is a member of the Ohio Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Eastern Ohio Association of Dentistry. Dr. Patterson is a diplomat at the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr Patterson & team did an amazing job. I had a lot of concerns before surgery as i have a pre existing condition so the anesthesiologist adjusted the medications for me accordingly. The front desk was also very nice.

Dr. Patterson is just fine. The office staff needs replaced. Rude, unprofessional, and very unpleasant to speak with, do business with, or even be in the vicinity of. No thanks.

I saw Dr. Patterson two years ago for wisdom teeth removal, and again today for an extraction and bone graft. For the wisdom teeth, I was put under, and for today's procedure, I was not. Staff has always been helpful and friendly when I've called with billing/insurance questions, and Dr. Patterson himself is very sweet and personable. He checked with me many times today during the procedure to make sure I was feeling okay and he's done an excellent job with all of my procedures. He is definitely my go-to for dental work, and I couldn't imagine seeing anyone else!

Had an appointment to have my wisdom teeth removed and wasn't seen until well over an hour after I was scheduled. The receptionist need to be better about scheduling

Dr Patterson did an excellent job extracting my husband's teeth. Office staff very helpful. There needs to be some railing in front entrance to enable handicapped to walk up and down incline in front entrance.

On the first visit, he was very calming and 100% was in tune with me anxiety of not wanting to get my wisdom teeth removed. On the day of removal, he was just as understanding and caring. Everything he asked and everything he did was always with authentic compassion and caring. I just had them removed today, so far so good. Lots of soft food, water and movie night with the 11 year is a great combo for the situation. Even after hours, the Dr calls to check up on his patients. Love his dedication. I would recommend him to anyone needing dental surgery.

I can't stand going to the dentist. Had to have 2 teeth pulled. My anxiety was belittled with phrases such as "Relax!", "I'm not hurting you!". All the while, I'm drenched in sweat. Actually cried in the car from feeling traumatized. Then I was only prescribed ibuprofen. I take that for when I stub my toe, not for when I've had oral surgery. Then I couldn't even use a straw, because one of the holes left behind went all the way to my sinus. Thus I couldn't create a vacuum in my mouth in which to pull any liquid up the straw. So, here I am sipping on vodka to dull the pain. I mean, we're not ALL drug addicts. I've NEVER had a problem with anything like that. But I have to suffer through the pain, because OTHER people are addicts. I've decided I will let the infection take my life, rather than EVER go through something like that again. Only go there if you DON'T have anxieties and you're not getting anything done that ibuprofen can't handle.

Dr Patterson is wonderful. My son had a very bad abscess about a month ago. Patterson got him in immediately for treatment. Treated my son and myself so good. We will be going to see him from now on. We mainly dealt with Dr Patterson but his staff is also very nice.

Awesome Physician! Professional, skilled, & compassionate. I had 3 extensive surgeries. Still require further work. He was concerned not just with my dental, but overall health. He & Margaret treated me like family. Tho we all know the agony of any dental work, I look forward to going back.

Dr.Patterson treated my son very well. The procedure was successful and he explained the entire process to my very nervous son. Very polite and professional .My nephew is going next.
