While going to school for General dentistry, prosthodontics, and implant technology, Dr. Horblitt made his living by creating dentures. His patients have nicknamed him a denture craftsman. Over the years he has studied and worked with many of the elite in the business such as Willie Geller, Claud Siebert, & Nioki Ieba. That acquired skill in dental ceramics served him well in his prosthodontic practice. Dr. Horblitt has an on-site laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment, including porcelain ovens, denture curing units, milling machines, and a complete inventory of composite Resin Denture teeth. This has ensured he can provide his patients with truly customized on-site care.
At Dr. Horblitts prosthodontic practice, we believe in a multidisciplinary approach to dental treatment. Dr. Horblitt creates a blueprint for success. He oversees all aspects of needed treatments, including surgical, periodontic, and endodontics. He always gives his patients a fair evaluation, based on his almost thirty years of experience. He believes that the final choice for treatments belongs to the patient.
Since opening his dental specialty practice in 1984, Dr. Gary Horblitt has taken care of the prosthodontic and prosthetic needs of his patients. He not only continues to serve the needs of his patients, he has taught many other dentists and dental technicians across the country about prosthodontics and implant dentistry. During his free time, he is often found teaching residents. He has been voted teacher of the year by the resident dental students he has taught. He has a fond following of both present and past students, residents, dentists, dental laboratory technicians and other professionals who have either worked with him or have taken his courses.
Dr. Horblitt has trained with the original developers of implant technology, including Swedish orthopaedic surgeon Dr. P I Branemark. In addition, he was trained in the restoration process for cranial facial implants. Dr. Horblitt was part of the first group of prosthodontists indoctrinated in the United States. He also completed the very first upper and lower implant restoration in Connecticut.
Dr. Horblitts believes that treating patients is a privilege, not a right. He loves having the ability to change peoples lives and to consistently offer the highest quality care. A fun fact about Dr. Horblitt: his favorite dentist is none other than Hermey, the elf from Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, who was committed to being the best dentist on the Isle of Misfit Toys.
Mirela was born in 1968, and while her parents tried to shield her from the harsh realities of life in Romania, she dreamed of coming to America. After high school, she studied clothes alteration and design at technical school. She married her husband Dumitru, and in December of 1987, she had her first son, George. In 1989, Dumitru left to begin building a better life for them all in America, and less than a month later she had their second son, Mihai. In 1991, shortly after Romania won independence from a communist dictatorship, she brought herself and her two toddlers to meet up with her husband in America. When asked why she did it, she said, Nothing matters to me more than my family.
From the moment she got to America, she worked hard, spending her days as a seamstress at the Burlington Coat Factory and her nights attending English classes, becoming fluent in English. When she became fluent, her job opportunities widened, and she went to work for Vitramon in the quality control department. Having been a helpful person her entire life, she grew tired of factory work and looked for something that would let her make a difference. Thats why she went to school to become a certified dental assistant. She started classes in 1996, and since 1997 shes been a full-time dental assistant for Dr. Horblitt. Together, they have helped countless patients obtain the care they needed, always ensuring that they received the best service possible. Nothing makes her happier than knowing that over the years, shes been able to help our patients regain their smiles.
