Dr. Garrett is a second-generation orthodontist who was inspired to follow in his Dads footsteps when he realized the way that self-confidence improves every aspect of ones life. When a child or an adult is self-conscious about their smile, it keeps them from smiling at strangers, meeting new people, and even laughing with friends. An insecurity can contribute to social anxiety, but a winning smile created by orthodnotics can open so many doors.
With younger patients, we understand that this self-confidence takes time to develop, and so each visit to the orthodontist is about more than just straightening the teeth, it is about motivating the patient to improve, take responsibility for their role in treatment, and encouraging them to develop confidence and reach their own goals in school, in sports, and in life.
For adults, we understand you have specific goals and desires for your own orthodontic treatment. Many adults come to the orthodontistbecause they just want to improve their bite and have their teeth fit together comfortably. Others have always wanted a great smile, but only recently decided it was a priority. Some have a couple teeth that are crooked after having braces as a teenager, but want Invisalign because it fits their current lifestyle. Others seek Dr. Garretts expertise as an orthodontist because they understand that when an orthodontist designs your smile in harmony with your lips, it can make you look years younger.
Dr. Garrett wants to bring three things to orthodontic practice: exceptional results, unquestionable integrity, and a comfortable, fun atmosphere. Every patient should know that at Garrett Orthodontics, they will receive the absolute best that orthodontics has to offer.
Dr. Garrett originally purchased the practice from Lee Hershon. In the Spring of 2018, Dr. Nick Savastano purchased the practice from Dr. Garrett. Dr. Garrets patients are now in the care of Dr. Savastano and Charleston Orthodontic Specialists.

Orthodontist Dr. Justin Garrett grew up in Winchester, VA. He attended John Handley High School, where he sat on the bench during football season and was part of the 1998 State Championship tennis team. He completed his bachelors degree at the University of Virginia where he concentrated on Civil War history and was vice president of his fraternity, the Kappa Alpha Order.
Dr. Garrett scored in the 100thpercentile on the Dental Admission Test (an exam like the MCAT for dental school), and four years later earned his DDS degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. On his clinical board exams, Dr. Garrett earned an almost perfect score.
Dr. Garrett was then accepted to orthodontic residency and completed his specialty training at Saint Louis University, earning both a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Masters of Science in Orthodontics.
At the American Association of Orthodontists annual meeting, Dr. Garrett was the winner of the Resident Case Display, meaning that his patients result and level of difficulty was chosen as #1 nationwide by the College of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Garrett is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the Virginia Association of Orthodontists, and the South Carolina Association of Orthodontists. He is a also a member of the Saint Louis University Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation, the AAO Foundation Keystone Society, and the Schulman Study Group.
Orthodontist Dr. Garrett moved back to Mount Pleasantafter years ago falling in love with the atmosphere, restaurants, beaches, friendly faces and bright sunshine. He enjoys reading, live music, tennis, skiing, CrossFit, and teaching his best friend (who is a beagle named Professor) tricks. Dr. Garrett has two sisters, Annie and Mykenzie. Annie is a dental hygienist in Mount Pleasant and Mykenzie is attending Physical Therapy school.
When you first walk in, feel free to get a cup of coffee from our Keurig Vue Bar with cream, sugar, and flavored syrups. Our treatment coordinator will greet you and begin the process of gathering information about why youve come to our office. This is the most important part. Everyone has different goals in mind when they come to get their teeth straightened, so we make sure that we know why you are here.
During your first visit, we will take photographs and an x-ray. Dr. Garrett will perform a comprehensive exam of your teeth, gums, jaw bones and joints. Once we have gathered all the necessary information, we will let you know three things:

I have loved my time at Garrett Orthodontics! All the staff are friendly and so welcoming as soon as you walk in the door! I have been very pleased with my experience here and would recommend them to any one looking for quality work and friendly enthusiastic staff!

When I was told by my dentist that I needed braces, I went to the orthodontist he sent me to. They told me I wasn't a good candidate for invisalign, because of my bad over bite. I went to another orthodontist and they said the same so I ended up getting metal braces. My husband looked into it a found Dr. Garret, who is just amazing. He checked out my teeth and said he could fix my over bite with invisalign. I was really excited. The staff are awesome and very nice. So I have my invisalign for a few months and my teeth and bite look incredible. I couldn't be happier with how my teeth are turning out. Dr. Garrett is very professional and confident in his work. So if you are like me and have been told you can't have invisalign, go see Dr. Garrett.

All four of my children and my wife have been through their braces with Dr. Garrett and his amazing staff. They are so friendly and the kids just love Dr. Garrett. I recommend them highly. Now that all of my family is taken care of, I plan on going to get my teeth straightened from waiting too long to get my wisdom teeth extracted as young adult. Dr. Garrett will be the only choice for me.

We have had a great experience with Garrett Smiles! My teenage son has his braces off now and his teeth look great! Now my second son is in braces and we were happy to go back. The staff is so friendly and have been great to work with scheduling. I highly recommend them!

Dr. Garrett and his staff are awesome! I had a great experience over the past almost two years. They are always very nice to me and let me feel I am a member of the big family. Dr. Garrett and his staff are always there for me whenever I had a broken bracket or poking wire. Most importantly, they fixed my problem and I can smile happily! There is no doubt that I will bring my children to get their braces at the same place. I highly recommend Dr. Garrett.

All of the orthodontist assistants are very sweet! The lady that took my daughters braces off even sent her a handwritten note in the mail saying congrats! Dr. Garrett did a fantastic job with her teeth! The office staff is wonderful to talk to and do their job very well! I highly recommend Garrett Orthodontics!

My husband and I have 3 girls that have seen Dr Garrett. We are pleased and happy with Dr Garrett and his staff. They have always worked with mine work schedule and helping to fit the girls in for their appointments. The staff is friendly and professional. I don't know how Nina does it but she always remembers the smallest of details and makes you feel extremely special when you come through the door. Thank you again....

Doctor Garrett is absolutely awesome. He gives a lot of information and detail about the ortho process and strives for perfection. The staff is great and seeing Mr Professor is an added bonus. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

The staff here is lovely, friendly, and very supportive. I couldn't ask for a better orthodontist office. They all want to help and do a great job at it. They always remind me why I switched from my old orthodontist. :)

He's very sociable and friendly! His work is done wholeheartedly and wonderfully. I recommend him because he notices things about your mouth that you may not have notice and improves them. He'll take well care of you.
