There are a ton of orthodontists in town, and even some dentists who havent been trained as orthodontistsbut offer treatment. There are lots of factors to consider in choosing an orthodontist. We believe that one of the most important should be whetheror not they are board certified.
A board certified orthodontist is an orthodontist who has voluntarily gone through hundreds of additional hours of preparation to demonstrate their judgment, skills, and knowledge required for providing the highest level of patient care. And they have achieved board certification through the American Board of Orthodontics, the only orthodontics specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and in affiliation with the American Association of Orthodontists.
A board certified orthodontist is committed to thehighest level of patient care including a comprehensive treatment approach to ensure quality work. And board certified orthodontists must renew their certification every 10 years to demonstrate their continuous commitment to excellence.
No, there are not. In fact here in the Valley of the Sun, there are very few. Were talking less than 30% of the orthodontists in town are board certified. But guess who is conveniently located in Mesa, Queen Creek and the Gilbert/Chandler area and is board certified: these guys!
It really does. Your smile is forever. An orthodontic treatment gone wrong could prolong treatment, be more painful than necessary, cause you to lose teeth unnecessarily, permanently damage your bite and cause other complications such as TMJ or premature wear and tear on your teeth.

We love Garn and Mason! At the consult we were very comfortable and didn't feel like they were pushing for any unnecessary treatment for my 8 year old. We didn't even get a consult at another ortho, we just knew this was a good fit. The front desk is always welcoming and kind, which can be hard to come by. Everyone in the back is great too. My daughter is totally happy and comfortable to go back by herself, they do a good job explaining to her what they are doing/what she will feel. We will continue to have our other children receive treatment at Garn and Mason!

They actually deserve a 7-out-of-5-star review! The short and sweet review is you WILL NOT FIND BETTER RESULTS, SERVICE, or ATMOSPHERE than Garn & Mason. Call now, you won't be disappointed. If you need me to qualify my statement and recommendation, keep reading... 7 years ago, while on vacation in AZ, my son's wire broke and Dr. Mason repaired it free of charge for us "out-of-towners." Four months later we moved to AZ and since our arrival, Garn & Mason have treated my entire family of four--mom and dad included. The entire office is fun, friendly and energized. They put nervous kids (and therefore their parents) at ease with their personalities and office atmosphere. They RESPECT YOUR TIME--during 7 years of treatments, we've NEVER waited more than 10 minutes to be seen, and 80+% of the time you barely get seated before they call you back. They not only "GO THE EXTRA MILE," they piggy-back carry you for the journey...and BACK. My son had a slip and fall accident where he impacted a tooth...over the Christmas holiday, no less. Dr. Mason quarterbacked a team that included an Endodontist, Anesthesiologist, and General Dentist; bringing all four specialists' skills to bear at a single location and time because it was "BEST FOR MY SON" not what was most convenient for any of the specialists. All fees are explained up-front with no hidden expenses. When they say "SATISFACTION GUARANTEED" they MEAN IT!! I originally choose Invisalign fro myself, but had a complicated case. When the treatment was complete, they put traditional braces on for a few extra months just to tweak and perfect the bite...again, no additional fees added even though the material cost and duration of my treatment was extended. I ended my final appointment with the office today, having my much-anticipated "final retainer check." I was thanked for "entrusting [them] with my care," but honestly, I am the one to be thankful. Dr. Mason and Dr. Garn treat you like family and friends. They are professionals who exude a moral code from the bygone era of my grandparents...They are good ol' fashioned skilled, fun, honest, trustworthy, and their word or a handshake is more ironclad than any legal document could aspire to be.

Came here as a transfer from another orthodontist and they finished my treatment up entirely and my teeth look amazing. I always get compliments on my smile now

I just finished my treatment with garn and mason and I couldn't be happier!! I started my treatment else where but I'm so happy I switched over to Dr Garn and Dr Mason. I have never met such caring doctors and staff! They will always make sure you are happy with your teeth! From the front office to the technicians doing your adjustment everything went so easy and smooth. Overall just a great experience! Can't wait to bring my kids there in the future!! 10/10 recommend to anyone who's been thinking about getting braces or Invisalign!

I'm a patient here along with all 5 of my kids. We have a family gene of missing permanent teeth and they have been so knowledgeable and helpful with that. We love Garn & Mason!

Garn and Mason is a great one stop shop for the entire family. My son (9) currently has braces, and they've done a great job making sure he is comfortable and taken care of. Most recently our tech Audrey Booth, did a great job of adding springs quickly and efficiently, with minimal discomfort. Highly recommend.

Garn and Mason in Mesa Az are an amazing team from Mr. Garn and Mr. Mason ALL throughout the company; assistants, RX staff and reception area. Greeted with a smile and plesant experience from introduction to completing the Orthodontic experience. The experience was informative, reassuring and realistic. What striked me the most, was the TEAM feel that was evident every time I entered the office. What an refreshing experience, after having an awful and scary experience at an Othodontic in Oregon. I would highly recommend the team to anyone that is looking for an honest, reasonable priced service. Oh and did I mention they actually appreciate the value of the patient 's time, NEVER waited more than 5 minutes for my scheduled app. I would give them higher then 5 stars if it was available. If you're even considering orthodontic work for your children this is THE place. We have had the first 4 children come thru this office 2 of them had braces and additional appliances and they have beautiful smiles. That was almost 15 years ago. We went to a few other consulting appointments and I just couldn't do it. Other offices just aren't this place. We now have another set of kiddos and grandkids that are getting orthodontic work done and of course we decided to come here. The staff is amazing and the doctors are as well. Before our first appointment the doctor called, who does that? Wow! There are so many choices but for our family this was the easiest one to make. They're all going to take your money, make sure your giving it to a place where your child matters. They care about them and they want the outcome to be amazing. Great smiles are life changing. Dr Garn, Dr Mason, and their entire staff are top notch. If there were more star's I'd give them more. They're knowledge, continued training and obvious care for their clients can't be beat.

You are never too old to get braces! I was a little intimidated getting braces at my age but I am so glad I did. The results are amazing. Drs. Garn and Mason are exceptional and my experience could not have been better. The entire staff is wonderful- friendly, kind and always accommodating. A special shout out to Jasmine, Justin and Kelly for always treating me with a gentle touch. I will be highly recommending Garn and Mason Orthodontics to family and friends.

My experience here was was definitely worth remembering. Dr Mason is so passionate about what he does and it's evident in the way this practice is ran. Everyone's energy here is absolutely amazing. I have always been greeted with smiles and everyone is very kind and engaging. I had a particularly difficult case and dr Mason was able to achieve what several other orthodontists weren't. His confidence and ability to provide a personalized care plan is really something to be admired. I thank you Dr Mason for your expertise, thank you Dr garn, and thanks to everyone at this office for being so great to me. My sister is in braces because of my experience here and I plan to refer many more. I know distance may be tough for people in Phoenix but I live about 35 miles from this office and the drive is worth every bit of it.

I cannot express how happy I am with Garn & Mason! They have treated my son, myself and my husband. Everyone from the front office, to the technicians, to the back office and the orthodontists has been kind, efficient and prompt. The doctors really know their stuff and they take the time to explain what is going on. My son presented with a particularly difficult case, and not only were Drs. Garn and Mason able to help him, they were able to do so while sparing permanent teeth, something other orthodontists were either not capable of doing or willing to try. I am so happy we were able to find such a great team! I highly recommend them!

Drs Garn and Mason were a pleasure to have as my orthodontists. I had braces in my early 20's but never wore a retainer so my teeth had shifted quite a bit and my overbite came back. After meeting with the staff for a consultation for my son, I decided to do a quick treatment for my own teeth. Dr Mason did a great job explaining what it would take to get my teeth back in alignment and my bite corrected. He estimated 9 months. I wore a retainer on top and braces on the bottom. They delivered on timing as I got the bottom braces off at 8.5months, I am so happy with the way my teeth look and how my bite is corrected. EVERY SINGLE staff member is kind and polite and friendly. The DRS go above and beyond with each patient. I would 100% recommend Garn and Mason, genuinely awesome humans that can give you the smile you've always wanted!

Garn and Mason Orthodontics has been helping our family have straighter teeth for many years. We've had three children, each with different needs go through braces, all with great experiences. The youngest has just finished and is learning how to take care of retainers and keeping his teeth in place. I love how they work to get you right in when you have broken brackets or power chains or wires poking you. They are there to make the process as comfortable as possible. The extra year-round activities and coin incentives are a bonus for keeping our children's interest and encouraging good hygiene. Appointments are always on time. Thanks to a wonderful team, our experience has been excellent over the years. You can't go wrong choosing Garn and Mason to help you have the best smile possible! : )
