Dr. Gardner has been on faculty in the orthodontic program at VCU for 20 years. Hes also one of two international Invisalign faculty from the state of Virginia and he lectures on the treatment across the globe. Both Dr. Tang and Dr. La Rochelle have received awards for their work!

Dr. Gardner later studied at Wake Forest, MCV, and NYU, where he worked closely with the cleft palate team on several complex cases. Since then, hes been consistently voted Best Orthodontist in Richmond Magazine, Style Weekly, and Virginia Living and is known for his outstanding working relationships with both his patients and his peers.
When Dr. Gardner isnt perfecting smiles at his Richmond orthodontic practice, he also serves as faculty at VCU Orthodontics, lectures nationally and internationally for Invisalign, is very active in multiple interdisciplinary study clubs throughout each year, and has served as Chair of the Ethics Committee for the Virginia Dental Association, as well as President of the Virginia Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Gardner also teaches for the Invisalign Masters Program and performs Mission work at St. Judes Hospital in St. Lucia.
Dr. Gardner was born on an American Army base in West Berlin, Germany and grew up in Martinsville, VA. He is happily married with three children. In his spare time, Dr. Gardner enjoys kiteboarding, white water kayaking, rock climbing, snow skiing, juggling fire, and anything else that involves the great outdoors, his family, and his friends! He has also been known to rappel off the SunTrust building dressed as Batman.
Board certified orthodontist Dr. Dana Tang loves working with children and teens, as well as adults. She chose the field of orthodontics after having treatment herself and realizing the impact of a smile. She wanted to help others experience the joy and confidence that a beautiful smile can give.
After graduating with a bachelors degree in biology with a minor in chemistry, Dr. Tang received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. She also completed her orthodontic residency and received her Master of Science degree in orthodontics from UNC.
In her free time, Dr. Tang loves to spend time with her family and friends, to be active in the church and community, travel, garden, cook and practice photography. Her husband is in the United States Army and they have two daughters and a dog.
Dr. La Rochelle received her Bachelor of Arts in molecular and cell biology from the University of California at Berkeley. She then earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of California at San Francisco, where she served as student body president and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
Following dental school, Dr. La Rochelle earned her Master of Science in dentistry and specialty certificate in orthodontics from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a recipient of the Southern Association of Orthodontists Graduate Research Grant, the Delta Dental Student Leadership Award and the Pierre Fauchard Foundation Dental Scholarship.
Dr. La Rochelle swam competitively in college for the UC Berkeley Womens Swimming team, where she won an NCAA National Championship, earned PAC-10 Conference All-Academic honors and competed at the USA Swimming Olympic Trials in 2004 and 2008. She is excited to be in Richmond, VA and surrounded by patients who are fellow competitive swimmers. She enjoys encouraging them and hearing about the individual goals they set for themselves, as well as their latest competitions!
Now, as an orthodontic specialist at Gardner & La Rochelle Orthodontics, Dr. La Rochelle relies on her knowledge and expertise to help our patients achieve beautiful, healthy smiles. Her areas of interest in the field include Invisalign, accelerated orthodontics and biomechanics.
Dr. La Rochelle grew up in a large family in Napa, California. She is one of six daughters. Her family is scattered throughout the United States, including California, Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. In her spare time, she loves baking, golfing, traveling, camping in the Shenandoah and Blue Ridge Mountains and of course swimming!

We have been with Gardner & La Rochelle Orthodontics now for about 18 years. We began with my husband and we are now on the downhill slide of our 3rd child going through treatment here. Their staff has always been so easy to work with, but I must say today I had one of the best experiences over the phone with Maxwell while rescheduling a series of 3 appointments for my Son. From the moment Maxwell answered the phone to the time we hung up, Maxwell went above and beyond to make this experience one of a kind. Maxwell's voice exuded happiness and kindness you just don't get everyday! Great find Dr. Gardner and Dr. La Rochelle, he's a keeper!!

Jillian and Maxwell are some of my favorite people in the Willow Lawn office. I love this practice, and try to recommend them to as many people as I possibly can whenever they need ortho work done. I really appreciate how kind and easy to work with the staff is no matter what I'm dealing with on my end. It's a complete 180 experience from my bad childhood ortho experiences with another practice. I'm definitely team GLO!

My experience at Gardner & La Rochelle orthodontist is always incredibly pleasant. The entire team has created a warm and welcoming environment for patients. My experience with the Gardner Willow Lawn location has been amazing. I started Invisalign treatment in Feb 2021, and for the past year and a half+ the staff have been extremely helpful, friendly, and informative. Every individual I've met in their office has been great, but I want to especially shout out Max and Jillian! I could always count on their friendly conversation and positive energy during my visits. Highly recommend.

I had a great consult with Dr. Gardner and his staff yesterday. Brandt, Heather, Rachel and Maxwell greeted me warmly before I even entered the building and were professional, friendly, and so helpful throughout my visit. Dr. Gardner listened and answered all of my questions. Can't wait to return!

We've had a great experience with Dr Gardner and his team! They are always on time, efficient and helpful. We are excited to see the finished product when our oldest gets his braces off in a few weeks and will be starting over with our second child just a few weeks later! Maxwell, who often answers my calls, is absolutely incredible! Not only is he helpful and super flexible, but he's a delight to speak with!

I started my treatment with Dr. Gardner back in 2019... fast forward 2 years and I just recently got my braces off. The office and the staff provided EXCELLENT service each and every time I came. The communication, service, and overall efficiency of the treatment exceeds the 5 star rating. I would highly recommend this orthodontist office to anyone interested in getting braces!!

We have been going to Gardner & LaRochelle Orthodontics for years; working through a plan for my daughter that culminated in GLO partnering with an oral surgeon for jaw surgery this Summer. The staff has always been so caring and engaging. They work to create as fun & relaxed of an atmosphere as possible while you are there. Recently I had a scheduling need that was very time sensitive. When I initially called, there was not an opening, but I explained the situation to Maxwell and he was fabulous! He kept a note at his desk and followed up with me multiple times until we found an appointment that would meet our needs. This attitude of going above and beyond can be hard to find these days, but Maxwell definitely has it. Thank you to Maxwell and the rest of the GLO team for all that you have done to help my daughter through this journey!
