Dr. Edward D. Gardner, Jr. received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the College of William and Mary and his dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. He was in private practice in Richmond, Virginia for over 40 years.
On a personal note, Dr. Gardner enjoys spending time with his wife, Janice, his four children and eight grandchildren. In his free time, he likes playing golf, traveling, and gardening. He is also an active member of his church, Bon Air Baptist, where he teaches the Joy of Belonging class.
Dr. Brian Midgette is a native of Chesapeake, Virginia, and a graduate of Old Dominion University. He knew early on his desire to work in the field of dentistry, working during high school and college in a local orthodontic laboratory. His hard work and experience paved the way for an early entry into the Medical College of Virginias School of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors in 1987. For thirty-three years Dr. Midgettes dental career flourished in Chesapeake, culminating in a highly successful private practice dedicated to excellent dental care. Dr. Midgette is committed to continually improving patient care, seeking advanced continuing education and attaining Master status from the Academy of General Dentistry. As a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and several other dental societies, academies, and local study clubs, Dr. Midgette remains at the forefront of the dental frontier. He is enthusiastic about keeping up to date on the latest technologies, procedures, and care so that he can provide the highest quality, most compassionate care to more effectively meet each of his patients needs.
In 1986, Dr. Midgette married Richmond native Lisa Sams, who he met in 1983 when she was studying dental hygiene and he was enrolled in dental school, both at the Medical College of Virginia. Together they have raised two exceptional daughters, three schnauzers, and a goldendoodle. During his downtime, Dr. Midgette enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, playing guitar, fishing, and traveling with Lisa. After 33 years of operating his own large dental practice in Chesapeake, Lisa and he decided to relocate to the Richmond area to be closer to both of their families.
Dr. Alice Xiang Dr. Alice, as she prefers to be called, grew up in Herndon, Virginia where she attended Oakton High School. Dr. Alice went on to earn a BA in Biology from the University of Virginia. As she likes to say, Go Hoos. After college, she went to the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and received her dental degree. She has just completed a residency at VCUs Advanced Education in General Dentistry. Outside of dentistry, she loves to cuddle with her two rescue dogs Koko and Mocha, shopping at Costco and Trader Joes, and lifting weights at the gym.
Dr. Patel grew up in India and attended dental school at RGUHS, Bangalore, where he graduated top of his class. Upon graduation, he practiced as a general dentist for 2 years before moving to US in 2013. Dr. Patel then completed a 2-year Masters in Oral Biology Research Program at Augusta University in Georgia and further pursued a 3-year residency program in Periodontics and Dental Implantology at Dental College of Georgia. In his 10 years of practicing dentistry, he has developed a reputation for putting patients at ease while delivering highest quality periodontal care and treatment.
Outside of practicing dentistry, he enjoys traveling, biking, and spending quality time with family. Being able to settle down in the Central Virginia area is a dream come true, and he is extremely grateful for the opportunity to get to know each of you and provide you with the highest quality Periodontal care!

Been going to Dr. Gardner's practice for 32. My good teeth are all because of his skill. Staff are like family.

I've seen Dr Gardner for appx 45 yrs, almost my entire life. So i trust him explicitly. When I came in for my cleaning appt I saw Dr Midgette for the second time. He was just as great as last year!!! He was personable and funny which reminded me of Dr. Gardner. I would definitely feel comfortable seeing Dr Midgette again and confidante in his skills should I need any work done.

Dr. Midgette is a very professional and warm gentleman. Realizing I traveled a distance to be treated, he spent the time necessary to remedy my problem. Without question, I recommend him without reservation.

I wrote a review for the practice 2 years ago. My thoughts happily remain the same. Dr. Gardner and staff are the best, they're like a family friend. We have been with his practice for 30 years. They treat us with respect and honesty; we provide our loyalty to them. The dental hygienists are thoughtful and professional; As are the billing and administrators for this practice. I continue to suggest or recommend them to everyone I know. Additionally, this practice now offers periodontal care and accepting new patients.

(Translated by Google) The worst experience we could have had was visiting this dental office, I can't speak about the other doctors but yes, about our visit with Dr. Xiang. Unable to see that it was a slightly more complicated job and refer him to another specialist from the beginning, he kept trying for the next two appointments to do a root canal for my husband (a process that was painful), we noticed his frustration, and his response was that his teeth are strange. Coupled with the collections department, we really didn't think this would happen, the overall experience has been a headache. Very disappointing. I had a stroke July 19, 2022. I actually called the office from the hospital to change my appointment to six weeks later, September 7, 2022. When I arrived, it was then they asked for the cardiologist and neurologist phone numbers to get clearance for semi annual my teeth cleaning. They didn't clean the teeth or examine me after I arranged for transportation to the dentist office 28 miles (round trip) away. They asked if I could come back later in the day in the hope they would have heard from a specialist. Now I'm waiting to see if they billed my insurance for this NON visit, per the advice of the insurance company. This will determine whether I now have to file a claim against them. A horrible experience!

Dr. Midgette has taken over Dr. Gardner Practice. I have been with Dr. Gardner for years and was apprehensive about Dr. Midgette, I felt no one could take Dr. Gardner's place! But I have received excellent care and genuine caring about my Dental needs from Dr. Midgette.

I've been coming to this practice to see Dr Gardner for over 30 years. He recently retired, so I decided to give Dr Midgette a try. I've seen him twice now and I really like him! Very personable. He'll be filling a cavity soon, so I'll check back to let you know how his work is!!

I am a new patient at this practice and I was so happy with the service. Everyone talks to you like they've known you for years and everyone was making sure I was comfortable and I honestly felt like I was with friends. They were very helpful and very informative during my appointment and answered all questions I had before I even got a chance to ask. They definitely calmed my nerves.
