Dr. Brad Elkins, a board-certified eye surgeon, proudly helped transform eye surgery in the San Fernando Valley. David Karlin is an experienced, board-certifiedophthalmologist who has over 30years of performing thousands of advanced eye surgeries. He routinely performs cataract, refractive, cosmetic, and glaucoma procedures. In addition, Dr. Karlin has experience with more complicated procedures, such as implanting premium intraocular lenses (IOL), which can lead to spectacle independence for over 15 years.
Dr. Karlin graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin, completed his internal medicine and ophthalmology residencies in New York, and started his practice in West Hills in 1980. When he is not at Ophthalmology Associates of the Valley, he is an assistant clinical professor of ophthalmology at UCLA 's Stein Eye Institute. For his outstanding job as an assistant professor, he recently received 'Teacher of the Year.'

'I went there for a routine eye exam as it had been 4 years since my last one. They did a few tests and found about what I expected, that my distance vision was still near perfect and my near vision was not. Dr. Karlin and the other staff were very nice and asked me a lot more questions that I expected. Ill keep going there sometimes in the future as I am sure my eyes are going to keep wearing down with age. Specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous, Dr. Stanley Kopelow is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has practiced for over 30years. Dr. Kopelow trained at the Jules Stein Eye Institute and worked as a full-time faculty member. During this time, he helped train and teach residents and fellows about diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. Following his teaching career at Jules Stein Eye Institute, Dr. Kopelow started at a private practice in the San Fernando Valley. Currently, he still maintains his affiliation with Jules Stein Eye Institute as an associate clinical professor of ophthalmology. Additionally, Dr. Kopelow continues to help conduct research projects for various eye conditions. He served as co-investigator of the National Collaborative Diabetic Retinopathy Study and worked as the lead investigator for the Early Treatment for Diabetic Retinopathy. These studies established the current guidelines for laser treatment and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Kopelow continues to receive recognition for his service in the industry, and he holds multiple 'Super Doctor' titles, includingin 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Dr. Kopelow graduated from the University of California Irvine School of Medicine and completed an internship at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Following his school and internship, he attended his residency at UCLA Medical Center.

With over 30 years of experience, he can diagnosediabetic retinopathy and createa treatment plan that manages symptoms and prevents them from becoming worse. He also helps treat other diseases or conditions associated with the retina and vitreous, including retinal tears and detachments. To help with these conditions, Dr. Kopelow has extensive experience performing advanced surgical procedures, such as retinal injections, scleral buckle surgery, and vitrectomy.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kopelow has written over 35scientific papers on diabetic eye disease and given numerous lectures and presentations at scientific meetings. Currently, his research is limited to the diseases of the retina and vitreous.
