Dr. Yesenia Garcia is naturally from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. She obtained her Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the School of Dentistry of the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2004. After she became a General Dentist, Dr. Garcia moved to Houston, Texas where she spent one year practicing general dentistry and restoring many patients with advanced dental problems at the University of Texas, Houston Dental Branch at the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program. In 2005 she went to Jacksonville, Florida to pursue her dream of becoming an orthodontist. Dr. Garcia completed two years of specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2007 at Jacksonville University, School of Orthodontics. Dr. Garcia has also completed a Masters Program on treating patients with clear aligners, as well as has been trained by Board Certified Sleep Medicine Doctors on Pediatric and Adult Sleep Apnea since 2008.
Dr. Garcia is a second generation dentist with 40 years of combined dental experience, working with her father after hours and weekends since she was in middle school. She had a wonderful time practicing general dentistry in the Houston area, so she decided to come back to Pearland, Memorial, and Town and Country to practice orthodontics as well. Trained in the latest techniques and cutting edge technology in orthodontics, Dr. Garcia uses the most modern materials to move teeth efficiently with less discomfort to the patients. She is also a certified Invisalign provider and practice treatment for pediatric and adults sleep medicine in the Pearland, Memorial, and other Houston areas. We have the latest digital low dose radiographic technology as well as we have our own in House Laboratory, where we fabricate our clear aligners to provide the highest quality products to our patients at a lower cost.
Dr. Garcia is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists. As a three times Board Certified Orthodontist (Less than 30% of Orthodontist in US are Board Certified), Dr. Garcia only attaches to the highest standard of orthodontic practices. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, Hispanic Dental Association, and Pearland Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Garcia has a special passion for dentofacial orthopedics and is one of the few Orthodontists in Houston that treats dentofacial deformities in conjunction with Orthognathic and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
She is an educator and finds joy in coaching other doctors in orthodontics, dentofacial orthopedics and pediatric sleep disorders. She is the founder of the Houston Orthodontic Study Club where she teaches and coaches other doctors on how to provide superior orthodontic care for children and adults. Having completed a Masters Program on the treatment with Invisalign (clear aligners), allows her to treat complex cases with clear aligners.
Dr. Garcia loves to help kids with speech problems and educates the community on how these problems can have a root in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. With her compassion she corrects the bite and aligns the jaws, which allows the kids to improve their speech.
She has a special interest on Sleep Apnea and the effects that this has in growth and development and on the life of adults and works with pediatric and general medical doctors and ENTs to ensure that children and adults are properly diagnosed and treated for this condition.
Dr. Garcia has received numerous awards during her career as a general dentist and as an orthodontist. She combines excellence with a wonderful charisma that makes her patients feel comfortable during the orthodontic treatment. Dr. Garcia resides in Bellaire with her husband and daughter. Dr. John Garza is a native Texan from the Houston area. He attended the University of Houston and graduated with a degree in Business Management. It was there that he found his true calling in dentistry as the dental field would allow him to use his talents to help improve the lives of others.
After attending the University of Texas Dental Branch where he received his DDS degree, Dr. Garza furthered his education by completing the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at the same institution. Dr. Garza graduated in the top of his dental class and decided to specialize in the field of Orthodontics. He would go on to complete the Orthodontics Program at the University of Texas School of Dentistry. There he earned his Masters Degree while completing research in orthodontic pediatric devices.
Dr. Garza has a passion for teaching and has held a faculty position in the Restorative and Prosthodontics Department at the UT School of Dentistry. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Orthodontics Department at UT.

By far the best orthodontist around. Dr G and her staff are always welcoming and greet you with a bright smile. This was my second round of orthodontic care. Unfortunately as a child my orthodontist didn't really care how my teeth were. When I found Dr G and had my consultation she explained in detail what needed to be done in order for me to be satisfied with my teeth/smile. She explained things that I didn't think even mattered because I had never noticed that my teeth where not aligned correctly. Now that I have finished my treatment I get so many compliments from my coworkers and family on how straight my teeth look. I am very happy with how my teeth look. I highly recommend Dr G you will not regret it I promise.

Dr Garcia and also the staff are some of the kindest, most patient, professional, and helpful medical staff my son and I have met. My son has a rare disease and we have met many medical professionals along our journey, BUT everyone at this practice is wonderful. They take the time to go over everything and answer questions. If you have a concern or questions they are quick to respond as well. I am so grateful we chose them. I highly recommend them, you won't regret it.

I just got my braces today!! I was very scared but everyone treated me so nice , I thought I was going to feel pain but not at all! The magical hands of the entire team made me feel very happy with the beautiful work that was left on my teeth, this is the best place I could choose to fix my smile!. SEEKING CARE WHILE BLACK On January 23, 2020 my son and I arrived for our scheduled visits with Dr.Garcia at G Orthodontist Pearland location around 9:25am. Upon arriving I was greeted by the front desk representative and from my understanding checked into my appointment scheduled for 9:45am. While checking in I asked the front desk representative what would be the process if I wanted to keep my braces on to complete the process instead of taking them off. She said "one moment let me allow you to ask the doctor", she then asked me to sit in one of their rooms. After a few minutes of sitting in this room one of the doctors assistants came in to speak with me and I asked her the same question. She told me the process, pulled up my chart and said let me have the doctor come in as I was previous advised. The doctor did not come in until what seemed like 10 minutes later. When she entered the room per usual we both greeted each other and she went on to say alot of my staff are out with the flu today and breathed kind of hard. I said oh no I hope they get to feeling better soon. She didn't say anything about my appointment. At that time she looked at my mouth and told me that my teeth really wouldn't move anymore unless I removed teeth. I said ok thank I'm not going to remove any teeth and she said ok. After she left out the room her assistant returned and and said if you want to keep your braces on longer you'll have to pay $185 per visit. I explained to her that I do not wish to keep them on and want to proceed with my scheduled appointment to remove the braces. She said ok let me have you sit back in the lobby and we will call you back shortly to start the removal process. After about 15 minutes went by I saw Dr.Garcia poke her head head out the door and wave her hand and say "you come here" with a pointing motion. All of the patients about 9 to be exact looked at each other in confusion as to who she was speaking to. I looked at her and pointed at myself to confirm if she was speaking to me and she said yes you. And two of the teenage patients in front of me began to laugh. I proceeded to the go to the back thinking she was calling me back for my appointment. Instead she said we have to reschedule you. Mind you this is the second time in 12 weeks that she has rescheduled me for an appointment that I have arrived for on time. I began to ask why they had to reschedule and she just kept saying I have to reschedule you. I told her that my husband took off work to care for our daughters while I came here for my appointment and I also took my son out of school as well for his appointment. After I asked her again why she wouldn't be able to honor my appointment that I arrived on time for she told one of her staff to call the cops on me. At that point I was upset and felt as though this was a prejudice and unprofessional move on her part. The lobby was full of people other races. My son and I were there before all of them, the only difference was our skin color. She honored their appointments and choice me to not honor my appointment. After she had her staff call the police I said well forget about my appointment what about my sons appointment, in which we were more than on time for as he was schedule for 12:00 noon to start his removal process. Dr.Garcia at that point said no I'm not seeing any of you and you'll need to find a new orthodontist. I said what do you mean find a new orthodontist I paid for all of my treatment before you even put our braces on. I also said if you want me to find a new orthodontist then you'll need to refund the amount for the treatment you have not completed for the removal process. She said no I'm not refunding. Meanwhile, one of her patients had completed his process and came to where I was standing to console me as I was clearly upset and hurt about this whole ordeal.

SEEKING CARE WHILE BLACK CONTINUED He asked the staff and Dr.Garcia why they couldn't speak to me and follow through with the services for my son. They all refused to speak to me. The patient put his arm around me and said I know this isn't right but I don't want the cops to come here and try to do something to you and you haven't done anything to deserve this. Two of Dr.Garcia's front desk staff kept coming and apologizing about this whole process and even said themselves I know this is not right I'm sorry but Dr.Garcia won't see you and won't speak to you. I was so hurt and confused and had never expected anything like this to happen ever as we had neared the end of our process in her office. Her patient was still there with me until the police arrived and at that point I was still crying about how Dr.Garcia was treating me as her patient and I left her office along with her patient and my son. As I was driving home I received a call from her office and picked up my phone to my suprise it was one of the officers that arrived at the office. He asked if I had left yet. I said yes I'm going home. He said well we wanted to speak to you because Dr.Garcia does not want you to come back up here anymore. She is filing a criminal trespass warning. I said for what I didn't even do anything but ask her why she was not going to see me or my son. He said well if you come back up here we can talk. I said no I'm not coming back up there you just told me that she filed a criminal trespass warning against me. Why would I come back up there. I asked him if he would ask her if my husband could bring my son for his appointment and he said that she doesn't want anyone from my family to come to her office ever. I said well how am I suppose to communicate with her about the remainder of my treatment and he said you'll have to take her to court. I don't understand why she handled me in that manner and it hurts because my son and I were the only two black people in the lobby. I feel like she choose me and my son to cancel because she didn't want to upset her none black customers in the lobby that came after our scheduled appointments. She had a HUGE chip on her shoulder that day! I don't know what she is going through in her personal life but she has changed and is not personable at all. She should remember that she is a servicing provider first and that she is being paid to perform a job. Her whole vibe in her Pearland office has changed. Her staff seem to be very afraid of her walking on tiptoes around her not get her upset. I hope my experience helps someone else make a better decision about who they choose to provide their services. She treated us like she gave us free services or something. If I could rate her Zero Stars I would. Her poor staff.
