Dr. Hogan is a general dentist, accomplished implant dentist, life-long learner, teacher, and father. He has a passion for his patients and personalizes his work. He coined the term We treat people, NOT teeth! He felt so strongly about this philosophy that he sought and obtained a copyright trademark on this and other similar phrases to distinguish the difference between caring for people and simply fixing teeth.
At age 17, Dr. Hogan turned down engineering scholarships at the University of Michigan (U of M) to follow his heart enlisting in the infantry of the United States Marine Corps (USMC.) After his enlistment, Dr. Hogan began his professional studies at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. There he majored in pre-medicine and anthropology/zoology. He followed onto dental school at the same university.
Additionally, at the Michigan school of Dentistry, he served student council and the community while concurrently receiving clinical accolades and awards notably in periodontics. He earned the Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) in May 2003. From 2003 to 2006, Dr. Hogan again served in the armed forces as a Navy dentist and control officer. Lieutenant (Doctor) Hogan completed a hospital residency (GPR) at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in 2004.
His experience was focused in oral surgery to include dental implantology. In fact, his thesis and comprehensive treatment presentation was on 'Teeth in a Day' and Immediately loaded dental implants. From 2004 to 2006 he served as the only dentist aboard the USS Ashland, LSD-48. There he provided quality and comprehensive dental care to sailors, Marines, and foreign military.
Dr. Hogan resigned from military service in 2006 and partnered with Dr. Baxter, an internationally recognized icon in the field of implant dentistry. Naturally Dr. Baxter was a phenomenal mentor to Dr. Hogan in general and implant dentistry. Adding to his professional implant education, Dr. Hogan completed a 1-year postgraduate program (MAXI course) in dental implantology sponsored by the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID.) In the subsequent years he studied and took examinations in Chicago, IL with the AAID and ABOI earning his Associate Fellow, Honored Fellow and Diplomate implant credentials.
As of 2013, less than 500 dentists worldwide held this credential in implant dentistry. He performed well on examinations and would later be asked to lecture and teach dental implantology to other dentists. In fact, he serves as a board examiner for the AAID and assists the editor of the Journal of Oral Implantology. His lectures have been local, regional, national and even international. He had the honor of lecturing to dentists in Bologna, Italy in February 2013.
Dr. Hogan credits his happiness and success to his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps, good parents, friends and mentors along the way. He is a local Virginia Beach resident in the Shore Drive area and enjoys the Chesapeake Bay, the beach, boating, wake boarding, fishing, hunting, playing hockey, working out, and spending time with his family. He proudly supports his local community through fundraising, youth athletics, coaching and volunteerism.

Dr Bill has been my dentist for almost 30 yrs. They don't come any finer or better than he is. Today was a challenging process, but he could not have been more stellar as he took his time & did a spectacular job. I know there are other good dentists out there, but Bill beats them all by a MILE. He also spends time communicating w me as he proceeds - what he's doing, is there pain etc - he's simply the very best

This was the first time I've been to a dentist in a very long time and truly couldn't have chosen a better place to go. Dr. Hogan's staff was amazing as if they already knew me. They made me feel as comfortable as one could hope for or even imagine. I can go on forever trying compliment his staff's professionalism but there's not enough time. I would recommend Dr. Hogan to anyone in need of dental work, or just to visit a very awesome office, thanks again for an awesome experience.

This was my 1st visit to this office to see my dentist Dr Bill Midkiff, who was offered an opportunity to share the space until his fire destroyed office can be rebuilt. First impressions: The office is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. The staff was smartly dressed in uniform, friendly, smiling and very efficient. I received a very warm welcome to the office from the staff. Dr Bill Midkiff has taken care of my family's dental needs for over 30 years. He is a Great dentist, that always takes care of his patients needs and emergencies. Everyone was very welcoming and very nice.. the Office seemed very clean and neat, the staff looked you in your eyes and talked directly to you. But in all honesty Dental work is just way to unaffordable these days, the monthly payments for financing are too steep for anyone. I have a low self esteem because of my look, but I have other priorities to tackle than $28,000. for new teeth. Thank you for meeting with me.

Excellent care! I feel very special each time I have an appointment! However, I cannot go to the office anymore, I was referred out because I do not need implants, Dr Hogan is focusing on implants and full restorative rehab of the mouth. I have had dental implants for over 30 years and have been treated by multiple dentists over the years. For the last 3 years, I have had issues with some of my implant and my denture. Because of the evolution of implant procedure, my case was a very complicated case with different types of implants placed my different dentist. I have consulted with multiple treatment centers with multiple recommendation that di not fit my needs or I was told my case was too complicated. Approximately 8 month ago found Dr. Hogan and his staff. Dr. Hogan reviewed my case and did extensive work up and felt he could treat me. Since that initial encounter, I cannot say enough about Dr. Hogan and his team. Dr. Hogan has state of the art equipment and quickly out line a treatment plan for my case. In addition to a very caring and competent doctor and staff, I was able to get both replacement implant and denture at the SAME facility!! I am very thankful to Dr. Hogan and his staff which have allowed me to get my smile back!!. If you are looking for a competent facility to get "ALL IN ONE" dental service, Dr. Adam M. Hogan, DDS is the dentist you want to see!!
