Your smile is an important part of your appearance. And though the size, shape, and color of the teeth are most frequently associated with oral cosmetics, the gums play an essential role too. When gingival tissues begin to recess, your teeth may look oversized and uneven. Soft tissue grafting is often used to restore the gum line using a bio-compatible grafting material that is attached to the gums to protect the tooth surface. The resulting augmentation produces restored dental symmetry and eliminates a toothy smile.
that gum recession can be more than just a cosmetic problem? The enamel below the gum line is more prone to decay and tooth sensitivity when exposed. A receding gum line can put your long-term dental health at risk potentially causing cavities, bone loss, additional gum recession, and even tooth loss.
Generally, soft tissue grafting is recommended once the gingival tissue has reached the mucosa. However, you may be a candidate for soft tissue grafting if you have noticeable gum line recession that is a source of embarrassment, is a risk to your oral health.
If you decide to undergo soft tissue grafting, your procedure will take place in your oral health providers office. The grafting site will be numbed, and the existing gum tissue will be loosened to make room for the graft. The grafting material is sutured in place, and you will return home the same day as your procedure.
It is normal to experience some soreness and swelling at the grafting site after your procedure. However, this will subside after a few days as your tissue graft continues to heal. Be sure to follow your post-procedural guidelines exactly as ordered by your oral surgeon, and take any prescriptions as instructed. Sutures usually dissolve or will be removed within a few days, and you should notice a significant improvement in the appearance of your gums within a few weeks. Keep in mind, however, that soft tissue grafts take several months to completely heal.
Dr. Lon Hinckley completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 2012 with a degree in Biology, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors. He then completed his dental training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating with highest distinction. He was awarded with the AAOMS Dental Student Award.
Dr. Hinckley provides a full scope of oral and maxillofacial services including wisdom teeth removal, dental extractions, advanced bone grafting, dental implants, facial trauma repair, treatment of the temporomandibular joint, and tumor and cyst removal. He is licensed to perform IV sedation and general anesthesia for children and adults. He maintains certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

The office was very clean and comfortable. I noticed they had a holiday scented candle burning which was welcoming. The staff was incredibly nice and interested in my well being, health, and progress during the surgery to get all four of my wisdom teeth removed. They even called me after my visit to make sure I was healing and feeling well. Overall great experience 10/10 would recommend!

I highly recommend getting your wisdom teeth pulled here. This doctor is very capable, he did a fast and thorough job. I have very deep roots that are difficult to get out. Glad I came here. I was very nervous for no reason at all and they made me feel comfortable. He knows what he's doing and does it well.

I couldn't have gone to a better place for my wisdom teeth extractions. I had to get all 4 pulled at once and they did an amazing job. The assistant and Dr.Hinckley we're both great and caring. We discussed possible nerve damage because one of my teeth were too close to a nerve & the doctor stated he would be super careful around that nerve. He did great, there is no nerve damage at all! I appreciate the follow up call from Dr.Hinckley as well! 10/10 Definitely recommend this office!

Highest recommendation! Dr. Hinckley and staff were beyond kind, informative, & literally zero pain during & after getting my molar pulled. Dr. Hinckley kindly removed my tooth in 3 sections to ensure enough bone was left, for a future implant. Additionally, I have Autism & this makes dental work extra triggering for me, but they were beyond caring and ensured I knew what was happening and why. They check-in frequently to ensure you're ok. I couldn't have been more impressed with everything. their kindness to my anxiety, describing the procedure, an emergency number. I didn't feel any pain.(I had 2 teeth extracted without anesthesia for safety). The extraction sites don't hurt at all it has been about 24hrs. My jaw is the most painful part. I only needed a day of pain medication. The calm & kind experience is helping me heal faster. Thanks for an EXCELLENT JOB ALL AROUND.

Quiet area, wisdom teeth extraction was quick and easy. Took about an hour of time although I was expecting a longer operation. Staff are great, Dr. Hinckley will check up on you afterwards if you have any questions/concerns. Thanks for the help and I'm impressed with the service I received and the follow up call.

My niece had to get a surgery completed and this place was referred. I have to say they were incredible! From the Front staff to the surgery team they were great. They even called to check on her before the end of day. I would highly recommend.

Dr Hinkley and the gals were phenomenal. They went above and beyond to take my mind off my nerves, something as simple as cracking jokes and giving me a blanket because I was cold. Went in for an extraction of a molar and a wisdom tooth. Did the entire surgery awake and Dr. Hinckley and his staff were so kind and did everything in their power to make me comfortable during my procedure. Hopefully I never need something like this done again, but if I do, I will definitely be going here. Was in and out in about an hour or so total. Very fast and clean work was performed with literally zero pain. Thank you for treating me with your very best care!

Had a tooth extracted yesterday. Dr Hinckley and his staff treated me with respect and care, and followed up that same day to make sure all was going well. Day after surgery I am back active and normal, and best of all...pain free. I am very thankful that I chose Dr. Hinkley to take care of me and highly recommend him.

I was super nervous to go have my wisdom tooth removed. They were friendly and made me feel less nervous. And they were so quick and easy, I went in and got a shot and 10 minutes later my tooth was out! The doctor even called me back that night to check in on me. It was the best place I've ever been to have a tooth pulled!! I will go back if/when I need another extraction!!

Came into my operation very nervous, but the staff was super friendly and eased my nerves. They were super gentle with me considering I have very, VERY small veins and managed insert an IV in me without poking me 500 times and it barely hurt! They were super informative and kept me in the loop to help me understand my operation better. I also got a call post-op that made me feel better as well. They asked me how I was feeling and asked me if I had any other questions and concerns as well! Dr.Hinkley and his staff are so wonderful and have outstanding hospitality! I would HIGHLY recommend this place! They accept Medicaid as well so that's always a huge plus for lower income clients. This is definitely a place where I will recommend to family and friends :)

Highly recommend this office! The staff is great, and Dr. Hinckley is friendly and considerate. He spoke to me with clarity, giving me all the information I needed to make an informed decision. I had a tooth pulled, and had to make a decision about an implant. I appreciated the honesty of his professional opinion, and he took care of my bad tooth quickly and it's well on it way to healing.
