Orthodontics refers to a specialized branch of dentistry which corrects poor tooth positioning and improper jaw alignment. This treatment is used to correct both cosmetic issues and problems with chewing function. Genetics and growth rates of your oral structures contribute to alignment problems and crowding.

Your orthodontist will evaluate your jaw and tooth alignment by using the latest technology including comprehensive x-rays of your jaws and supporting structures. Dr. Sheri Nawabi will formulate a treatment plan designed to correct your cosmetic and functional issues and provide you with your new straight smile.

Orthodontic treatment for children should begin when your child is seven years old because the first permanent molars have erupted, allowing your general dentist or orthodontist to fully evaluate jaw movement and tooth alignment.

If you are considering orthodontic treatment and want to discuss your options and the results you can expect, call Dr. Nawabi ofFriendship Heights Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Washington, DC, at (202) 686-2318. Call today and find out more!

I have always been very satisfied with Dr. Nawabi's dental work and as such I have been a patient for a few years. Typically I don't write reviews but Dr. Nawabi displayed a sense of sensitivity and professionalism that I felt that I wanted to share with others. Last night I came in to have an impression taken for my recently uncovered transplant. As it turned out the flipper (temporary denture) that we made to substitute for my front tooth wouldn't fit and it didn't look like there was any way to modify the existing flipper. Recognizing that it was very important for me to appear professional in my upcoming business meetings, Dr. Nawabi used "out of the box" thinking and her excellent dental skills to grind a hole that would allow me to use the existing flipper. I would have been very easy and understandable for her to tell me that I had to wait 2 weeks for the new crown to be made, but she took the time to make it fit the best she could. I don't know if it will ultimately hold up; but I was very impressed with her concern and ability to go beyond the call of duty to help me out. After all that is what we all hope for in our dentists. The "team" treated me as great as if I were the REAL Mr. Chavarria!!!! All jokes aside, hard to believe, but I enjoy my visits to Dr. Nawabi and her crew, namely Ana, Wendy, and Gloria. Expect to see them again in six months. Bye for now.

The dentist recommended a certain but gave me the space to decide whether I wanted to go through with it. I'll probably talk to a few other people before I decide.

The only reason I give this place 5 stars is because of the front desk assistant Ms. Gloria, she has been a pleasure to meet with, very understanding, soft spoken and respectful, she's truly a doll. Thanks Ms. Gloria!!!

Never going back!!!! She yelled at me and demanded I understand what was suppose to occur, zero bedside manner. Front desk staff is unprofessional and in inattentive. I asked to have a "mild" cavity filled and told I need a root canal... definitely seeking a second opinion.

I had an appointment to see Dr Sheri Nawabi in her office and was seen by her attendent initially who as soon as I sat was told she was going take X-rays. I was not even asked! I told her I was not happy to have X-rays and I didn't feel it was necessary. They had taken X-rays back in 2019 when I had first moved to the US from Europe and had made my first dental appointment with Dr Nawabi. She then told me I had to sign a waiver. At no point had anyone even looked at my teeth. I signed the waiver. Dr Sheri Nawabi then came in and asked me why I didn't want to have an X-ray and proceeded to tell me that it was 'law in the US' that dental X-rays are to be taken each year. She still had not looked at my teeth at this point. I told her in all the four continents I have lived, I have never heard of this and she questioned me as to which countries do not have this law! I since found online from the ADA (American Dental Association) the following: Adults without apparent dental problems do not need dental X-rays of any kind every year, the A.D.A. says. Adults who properly care for their teeth and have no symptoms of oral disease or cavities can go two to three years between bitewing X-rays, according to the A.D.A. I was there for a dental clean which was very rushed. Dr Nawabi told me that my teeth looked in good health and I left. I then had to pay $10 after my appointment which I was told is a PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) fee due to Covid. I was there with the intention of discussing a dental implant but had reservations about her. This was indeed fortunate, since I made an appointment with another dentist specializing in implants this week, one week after my dental clean with Dr Nawabi and at my next appointment, the new dentist told me before we could proceed further regarding the implant, I would need a dental clean! The dentist was shocked to hear I had a clean one week before and took photos of my teeth to show me the fact it was not done well at all and I needed a thorough clean. We were all in shock. I certainly dodged a bullet here regarding my implant I was considering having done at Friendship Smiles. Update March 16: Response to your message Dr Nawabi. Indeed I reposted as the public should be able to see these reviews to make their own inforned decisions. My earlier post seemed to have been 'disputed' and was deleted, not by me. Your office staff took my panoramic x-ray in 2019, not 2009 as you have mistakenly written. I only arrived in the country in 2019.

I finally got my fractured tooth pulled last night after procrastinating for almost a year. I initially came to Friendship Smiles for an appointment for the fractured tooth but decided to check several dentists and surgeons to compare prices for the extraction and implant. Unfortunately, I waited a little too long and part of my tooth fell out over the Thanksgiving holiday which exposed the nerves. This became extremely painful after a few weeks. Dr. Nawabi did everything possible to ensure I was able to manage the pain until I was able to schedule an appointment with the surgeon Dr. Honl. I'm so glad I returned. Dr. Honl did a great job. He kept me informed throughout the process and made sure I was comfortable. He is very personable, caring and professional. I love the staff from Gloria the receptionist to Dr. Nawabi. I absolutely love the care I received and wish I had come sooner. Friendship Smiles has gained a new patient.

I would like to say that Dr. Honl and this office was very accommodating and friendly. Dr. Honl removed all four of my wisdom teeth and I didn't realize the procedure was completed. So far, I have not experienced extreme pain or swelling. He gave me very detailed instructions for care afterwards, was extremely nice, professional and answered all of my questions and concerns (before and later after the procedure). This was my first time working with this office and Dr. Honl but I would most definitely recommend him.

Predatory Behavior. I found this dental practice to be incompetent and eager to skirt the rules. Back in 2014, I was looking for a dentist near me and went in to see the Dr. The front desk staff seemed unsure of themselves and noted they were new. Then the person who cleaned my teeth mentioned they were a temp worker. Then the dentist came in and claimed I had 5-6 teeth on the way to having cavities (when my previous dentist, who I went to for years, had never mentioned these). The Dentist started going on about how it was easier to go ahead and get the teeth drilled and filled and do this out of pocket rather than go through insurance, and the only thing I could think was "get me out of this chair". I ended the appointment and got out of there as quickly as possible. I never went back and found a new dentist. The practice called me to make another appointment and I asked them to never call me again. But a few months later, a different front desk person called to schedule an appointment. I repeated my ask to not call me. This repeated a few times before I finally blocked the number. All was quiet for about 2 years until they called me from A NEW NUMBER. And yes, it was yet another new front desk person. I added the number to the blocked call list and have now started getting email requests from them, despite having unsubscribed numerous times. I haven't been in since 2014 and am still being hounded by these people.

Pleasant experience with the staff. Office is outdated. I went in for a general check-in/cleaning and it felt like I was being provided services that were not asked for because it was understood that my insurance would cover it. I've since asked for my x-rays to be transferred to another office and was told that it would cost me a $35 fee. No good reason was provided apart from it being the office policy and different offices had different policies.

My son has been going to Dr. Nawabi for years. He enjoys her as a dentist. However, Dr. Nawabi speaks negative to my son about my wife his mom when they are one on one. It makes my son very uncomfortable. This is the second encounter my son has mentioned to me and my wife. Legal actions are next. Defamation of character. She must be stopped.
