As an orthodontist, I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds, hearing their stories, and being part of their journey to becoming their best self. Orthodontic treatment not only creates a beautiful smile but also a great foundation for a healthy and functional smile. Having an attractive smile helps patients be more aware of their overall health and increases their confidence.
I strive to create a positive and memorable experience for every patient, like the one I experienced when I had orthodontic treatment. I decided to become an orthodontist the day my own braces were placed. Even then, I appreciated the combination of art and science, and how the process created lasting changes for patients.
I love seeing my patients on a regular basis and seeing the progress in their treatment, as well as watching each person become more confident. Because of my commitment to providing the highest level of care, I personally see each patient at every visit. This ensures I know exactly how things are progressing and am able to update the patient and their parent.
Each year I participate in continuing education at seminars, as well as regional and national orthodontic conferences. Staying up-to-date with current research and clinical practices is essential to providing the best care and treatment results for my patients.
I grew up in Hockessin, DE, about 30 minutes from the office. Now I live in Kennett Square with my husbandand our two children. When Im not working, Im with my family. I enjoy traveling, cooking, and arts and crafts projects. I also enjoy gardening and nature, and love discovering local foods and attractions.
We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive orthodontic care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding orthodontic experience every time you visit our practice. We are pleased to welcome you and your family, and we look forward to working with you.
I love meeting and becoming friends with our patients and their families. Watching someone I care about gain confidence through their new smile is the best experience. The day we finish treatment, seeing the joy on the patients face has us all celebrating! I assist patients during their visits, seating them and explaining what will happen. Then I work chairside, supporting them and Dr. Chan. At the end, I make sure theyre happy and smiling.
I like getting to know our patients and parents as theyre beginning treatment. Seeing a patient become more outgoing and comfortable with their appearance, and knowing Ive played a role in that transformation, is rewarding. Im responsible for helping with the day-to-day office operations. I troubleshoot insurance issues, advocating for our patients, as well as billing issues. I also review treatment plans with patients and parents and create financial arrangements.
I am a people person and love talking with our patients. Everyone has wonderful stories to share and were always laughing together. Helping people I care about develop lasting smiles that are confident, healthy, and beautiful makes me love my work. I take X-rays and impressions, pour up models, and make custom retainers so patients can keep their new smile. I also provide chairside assistance to Dr. Chan while talking with our patient about what were doing.
For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If you're self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.
When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile you've always dreamed of and the confidence to show it off! We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, and our practice is dedicated to making sure that you receive the quality care you deserve.
Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.
Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!
Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.
