A native of Whitehalland graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, Dr. Hugh Friel received a B.A. in history,summa cum laude,from the University of Pittsburgh in 1993. While at Pitt, he made the deans list all four years, was elected into Phi Alpha Theta (National History Honor Society), and received the Deans Scholarship for Academic Excellence.

Dr.Friel went on to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1997. During his studiesat Michigan, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), a dental honor society forstudents who graduatein the top five percent of their dental class. He also received the Deans Academic Scholarship during his senior year.

Dr. Friel returned to the University of Pittsburgh in 1997 to study orthodontics at the School of Dental Medicine. He received his certificate in orthodontics and Master of Dental Science (MDS) in 2000. The highlight of this residency was a summer exchange program at the famed Guys Hospital in London. Upon graduation, Dr. Friel returned to the Lehigh Valley to partner with Dr. Steciw.

Of all facets of orthodontics, Dr. Friel finds the process of facial growth to be most interesting. Watching my younger patients mature into young adults never ceases to amaze me, he says. His most satisfying feeling professionally is to seethe results of one to two years of hard work. The excitement and exhilaration a patient, be it a child or an adult, feels when they see their smiles for the first time is what I love most about orthodontics.

Dr. Friels spare time is devoted to his family:his wife Rochelleand two boys, Aidan and Ryan. He enjoys hiking and biking, listening to any kind of music, and traveling. He is an avid sports fan with allegiances to anything Pitt or Michigan, and the Phillies, Flyers, and Steelers.

I went to Lehigh Valley School of Dental Assisting in 2007 and joined Dr. Friels team shortly after graduating. The best part of being an orthodontic assistant is our patients! I love seeing their smiles change and improve at every visit. Its great to be a part of their lives during the course of their treatment, and to watch their confidence grow from start to finish. Seeing this transition and growth is truly amazing. Coming to work every day is really easy because of Dr. Friels laid-back, relaxed attitude. Everyone on our team is really like one big family.

I became part of the team in 1990 and have loved every day at work. We have the best group of patients, and I appreciate that Im now seeing the children of some of my first patients! Helping people I consider friends get the smile theyve always wanted is extremely rewarding. I provide chairside assistance to Dr. Friel as he cares for patients. I also work in our onsite lab, to fabricatecustom orthodontic appliances.

I began my career assisting in general dentistry in 1985 and transitioned into orthodontics in 2000. With Dr. Friel and our wonderful team since 2014, I have enjoyed meeting our patients and families, and being a part of a positive, confidence-building experience. I work with new patients during their initial visit, taking photos, X-rays, and impressions so Dr. Friel can create their treatment plan. I love to see the final result: new, beautiful smiles!

I started working in orthodontics in 1978 and joined this office in 1991. I work one-on-one with patients, providegentle care in our clinic, and makesure our patients are as comfortable as possible. I love the fact that I get to come to work every day and make people proud to show off their smiles.

I joined the Friel Ortho team in 2002 and love working with a great group of people. Were all committed to delivering a wonderful orthodontic experience and amazing results. Its a pleasure to get to know each patientpersonally, and to celebrate with them when they see their final results. I assist Dr. Friel with bonding and banding procedures and wire changes. I also manage our inventory.

I have spent my entire orthodontic career at this office, since 1986. As our treatment coordinator, I meet most of our new patients when they first come to our office. Its really rewarding to see our patients grow into their new, straight smiles. I feel very fortunate to work with Dr. Friel; in addition to being a great orthodontist, he also makes everyone feel comfortable while theyre here.

Ive been working in the dental field since 2007 and joined Friel Ortho in 2014. I greet patients as they arrive, respond to requests for information, and support Dr. Friel chairside. I love this office, my teammates, and most of all our patients. There are so many wonderful families that bring their children to see Dr. Friel. I love seeing smiles walk out of our office all day with so much confidence!

I love being outside in the summer: going to the beach, hiking, and traveling. I have a long haired Chihuahua named Tyson and a cat named Meatball, as well as four siblings and a large family I love spending time with them. I also enjoy furthering my education, so I take college classes at night.
