No. All orthodontists must be licensed to practice, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to become a board certified orthodontist. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievementa significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems. Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. In order to become board certified by the ABO, an individual orthodontist is thoroughly interviewed by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment.

One. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is the only certifying board in the specialty that is recognized by the American Dental Association. The ABO was founded in 1929 and is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. The boards purpose is to elevate the quality of orthodontic care for the public by promoting excellence through certification, education and professional collaboration.

FreySmiles Orthodontics – Lehighton - Orthodontist in Lehighton, PA

Successful completion of the examination process demonstrates the orthodontists highest commitment to excellence in orthodontics to both the orthodontic profession and the general public. It represents a commitment by a licensed specialist that he/she has the necessary knowledge base and skills to treat patients to the highest of standards. It exemplifies a practitioners commitment to continue to keep abreast of the latest advances in patient care, and to continue to deliver these latest advances to patients. Many orthodontists see it as a demonstration of their dedication to the specialty and the highest level of personal achievement.

Since the establishment of the ABO in 1929, the certification process requirements have continued to adjust to the demands of the specialty. Today, the process involves a thorough Written Examination (240 questions) covering all areas of information which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful completion of this board exam allows the orthodontist to proceed to the Clinical Examination where they present detailed case reports from their practice/residency, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and later discussed during an oral examination where the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. After successful completion of these examinations, the orthodontist has officially achieved Board Certification, for a time-limited period. The orthodontist must go through Certification Renewal every 10 years to maintain their certification status by demonstrating this continued level of patient care.

My 11-year-old son needed braces as soon as possible possible due to some major crowding issues and frey smiles got him in quickly for a consultation and about a week later he had braces. They made him so comfortable about the whole process at the lehighton office. He had an issue with one of the wires a few days after the braces were placed but doctor Frey called me back very quickly when I called the emergency line and met us at 1 of his offices to fix the wire for us on a Saturday afternoon. He was very pleasant and did not mange us feel like a burden. Everyone at the lehighton office is wonderful.

FreySmiles Orthodontics is a great place. They are caring and go above and beyond. My son had an accident that involved major trauma to his mouth on a Saturday night. They took the time to make sure he was okay. I called their emergency line. They called me back within the hour. They also opened up the office to look at him on a Sunday and it was also Father's Day. Later that evening they called again to see how he was doing. They did not make me feel like I was bothering them on their day off. They also made my son feel at ease. The office also called later in the week to see how he was doing. They have went above and beyond the call of duty. They are caring and concerned about their patients. Thank you for all you have done for our son and our family.

After getting a consultation at a different orthodontist, I was given their course of action for my 8 year old daughters dental journey which included scary mechanical devices and more than $1000 in price difference. Not only does the doctor himself call the day before your first appointment to welcome you, they take all your fears into consideration. We felt like people, not a dollar sign. We left there feeling relieved and grateful for their kindness and expertise. Thank you FreySmiles, for making this process comforting for us as parents and not invasive for our daughter.

I submitted a form for my records on February 14th, the new office I'm going to, called them multiple times and they never sent my records over. I went in the office asking for them on March 27th and was told they needed to look through files to find my xrays, they said they would call me within the week, never received a phone call. April 12th the office I'm going to now called them again and finally on April 15th I received my records. So 2 months they prolonged my treatment. I switched because in my opinion, I feel my smile and my son's smile would turn out better going somewhere else, since this is the only office that said my son wouldn't need 4 teeth pulled before putting braces on, even though my dentist and Dr. Tinsley, plus 2 other orthodontists we went to for a consultation said he would need teeth pulled because of crowding. I too, had a lot of crowding and needed teeth pulled. This is the only office that said he wouldn't and the woman we talked to during our consultation was very pushy about making an appointment. I told her I wanted to think about it and talk it over with my husband 3 times nicely, until I finally had to look at her and say NO. Also they wanted to charge $1500 more for my son's braces than where I'm taking him now, Banning Orthodontics in Tamaqua. That price is also $1000 more than it cost me for my braces as an adult. Replying to your comment, yes, the new office absolutely does need my records to effectively begin treatment. They need to know what was done in the past appointments. So yes, you prolonged my treatment for 2 whole months. Yes, they would have eventually started my treatment, but it would be better if Dr. Banning could see what was previously done, which is why we waited for 2 months for your office to release my files. Also, if you needed more time to find them, why didn't I receive a phone call at any point in time explaining why my records were never sent over? Why didn't I receive a call after I left a message? Why didn't I receive a phone call after I went in, from the girl at the desk, when she told me she would call me to let me know within the week? I would have been understanding, but in this case I was ignored

My family and I have been patients of FreySmiles for years now and I have nothing but praise for this practice and everyone that works there. Currently I have two daughters in braces and they worked with me to find an affordable payment plan that worked well for me and my family. I am also pleased with the opening of the Lehighton office. As with all their locations, the Lehighton office provides the same top rate service that me and my family have grown to expect from FreySmiles Orthodontics. Every visit is full of welcoming smiles and warm conversation. My girls are excited for their visits and can't wait to share new info about their school day, vacations and life happenings with the wonderful women that work there. Furthermore, Dr. Gregg and Dr. Dan are always available to answer any questions I have and to keep me fully updated on my daughters' progress. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this practice and would 100% recommend FreySmiles to any and all of my family and friends. Thank you FreySmiles for making this experience so enjoyable for my family (especially my daughters).
