Dr. Richard B. Dunning was born and raised in Mobile, AL, and earned his BS degree in biology at The University of Alabama-Birmingham. He went on to earn his DDS degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN, and was commissioned into the United States Navy after completing school. During his commission he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program.
Dr. Dunning has been practicing dentistry since 1995 and has been in practice in North Carolina since 1999. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, The North Carolina Dental Society, and Gaston County Dental Society. In the 2015 Edition of The Leading Physicians of the World, Dr. Dunning was featured as one of the top dentists. He was also recognized for his outstanding and dedicated service as president of the Gaston County Dental Society. Dr. Dunning continues to give back to the community yearly: he participates in the Colgate Dental Screening Bus, Give Kids a Smile, and NC Mission of Mercy, serving thousands of locals who have dental needs. He is dedicated to staying up to date with advances in dentistry through participation in frequent continuing-education courses.
In his spare time, Dr. Dunning enjoys mentoring youth, spending time with friends, shopping, and traveling. Dr. Dunning and his wife, Valerie, have been married for 21 years and have two amazing children, Rosemary and Richard.

My first appointment went very well. The staff was very attentive to my needs and any questions I had about treatment plans. The communication from the staff stood out the most to me as well as their efforts to ensure I fully understood all the information that was given to me.

From the moment we first contacted Fresh Dental we were treated kindly and professionally. The first visit we again were treated very kindly and the staff was very thorough & gentle with our care. When I told the front desk that because of my intense work schedule it would be a challenge to schedule the cleaning at a later time, they accommodated me immediately. Yesterday I saw Jenny for my third cleaning. I have seen many providers over my long life and have a pretty good idea of what makes an excellent hygienist. Typically, I am sitting in the dentist chair, arms crossed, hands clenched, bracing for the next painful incident. I found myself, relaxed, arms on the chair rests, drifting off into daydreams. There is something so calming, almost meditative, about Jenny and how she works. Truly, I almost fell asleep and if it hadn't been for Jenny giving me instructions, I would've been asleep. If you or your loved ones are fearful of getting your teeth cleaned, please remember Jenny.

Upsell upsell upsell. Wouldn't even do a cleaning after making sure they could bill for xrays and an examination because they wanted to upsell and I refused. Coworkers and I found a new place that is honest and so should you

Again, Dr. Bouali was wonderful. He was very friendly, understanding, and efficient. He was great with my daughter. If you go to Fresh Dental I recommend asking that you be seen by him. He was very patient with us and he gave us options for or plan going forward.
