Dr. Airton Arruda has been providing top-notch orthodontic care for more than 30 years. A native of Brazil, he attended the Colgio Bandeirantes in So Paulo for his undergraduate education, and earned his dental degree from the UniversidadedeMogi das Cruzes in So Paulo.
He came to the United States and completed his orthodontic specialty training at St. Louis University, where he earned a Master of Science in dentistry. The following year, he was a research fellow in orthodontics at Harvard University. He went on to earn a Master in Public Health from the University of Michigan in Epidemiological Studies in Orthodontics.
Dr. Arruda is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, European Board of Orthodontics, and the Brazilian Board of Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics. He is also a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Arruda stays on the cutting edge of the latest advances in orthodontics by maintaining memberships with numerous prestigious organizations, such as:
Dr. Arruda served as the clinic director of the University of Michigan School of Dentistrys Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry for four years. He currently teaches graduate students as a Clinical Associate Professor.
In his leisure time, he trains for triathlons and runs in international marathons. Dr. Arruda is ranked at the USA TriathlonAssociation and the USA Triathlon National Championships. He is also passionate about strengthening his community and participating in programs to educate children about oral health. Dr. Arruda has been blessed with a wonderful wife, three children, and their family pet dog, Dolly Parton.
Dr. Fernanda grew up a wolverine in Ann Arbor, MI where her father Dr. Arruda, is an Associate Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Orthodontics has been a part of her life since she was 12 years old and working in her fathers orthodontic lab.
In 2013, Dr. Fernanda was accepted to the University of Sao Paulo School ofDentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During her time in dental school, she was involved in the student athletic department and graduation committee. In dental school, she also conducted government-funded research in Public Health and Orthodontics related to radiation therapy. Dr. Fernanda then continued her post-graduate studies at Saint Louis University, where she received her orthodontic training, orthodontic specialist certificate, and Master of Science in Dentistry degree. As a resident, she was selected to receive the Dr. Eustaquio Araujo Clinical Excellence Award. As a specialist, she earned the American Board of Orthodontics certification, becoming a part of the elite group of only 30% board-certified orthodontists worldwide. Dr. Fernanda is an active member of the American Board of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, and the American Association of Orthodontics.
Dr. Fernanda is dedicated to providing the best orthodontic care for her patients through excellent communication making sure all questions and concerns are answered. When not seeing patients or attending community events in the Fremont-Sandusky area, Dr. Fernanda spends time in Ann Arbor with her husband, Dr. Felipe Rea, who is currently a Restorative Dentistry resident at the University of Michigan, and their beloved dog, Dolly Parton. In her free time, she enjoys being active in nature and in the gym, watching good movies, trying new restaurants, and traveling.

The Fremont/Sandusky orthodontics are great! My husband had his braces placed on November of 2020 and we have had Amazing service! They work with all budgets and are super helpful! From every appointment that was needed, The staff have all been amazing and friendly, we couldn't ask for better care!

Has a friendly and outgoing staff who clearly enjoy their jobs and an amazing orthodontist (Dr. Aruda) who has clearly mastered the craft of orthodontistry. I do not dread visiting, but look forward to visiting the orthodontist.

Our daughter had her braces from Fremont Orthodontics. We had a great experience over all from her evaluation, to placement, to check ups and adjustments, to removal (earlier than planned ) and the permanent retainer placement. The staff is kind and easy to work with. All around she had a great experience.

So glad I went with Fremont Orthodontics for my daughter - she has had nothing but a great experience with them. The staff are always kind and helpful. My daughter's smile has completely changed over this past year. Couldn't ask for better results. She says she isn't nervous at all to go and can just sat back and relax while they work on her teeth. The staff here is amazing and so helpful. I have had my braces on since Dec 2019. I am almost finished with treatment. They explain everything in detail. I'm so glad I decided to get braces for my overbite. The office is very clean and welcoming. I definitely smile more.

Had tmj and this doctor told me it was normal through out the whole process, had a second opinion bc the pain never ended and they told me what he told me was a lie and I would have to get a restoration, more money out of my families pocket bc this was a scummy doctor. Shame on him, his staff was nice, but I would never recommend this place to anyone bc of Dr aruda

I am on my fourth child as a patient. They offer knowledgeable staff who know what is best for the patient. The staff is second to none when it comes to being friendly and helpful. We are fortunate to have such a quality orthodontist close to us.
