Chris grew up with his two parents and younger brother in Harpswell. As an honors student at Mount Aarart High School, he and a few friends would wear aesthetically displeasing shirts and ties on occasion, for fun. He was an avid mountain biker and kayaker as he attended college at Colby College, where he met his wife studying for a Chemistry exam. Sparks flew!During college he took a jaunt to study abroad in Cork, Ireland. After working for 5 years at The Jackson Laboratoryperforming overies transplants in mice on Mount Desert Island, and finally going to the dentist,he attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, with some mighty clean teeth or course! Turns out, that dentist he saw is on the faculty at Tufts, and recommended him for the program.Excitingly, he was admitted to the Omicron Delta Upsilonnational dental honor society. Oooh! After graduating, Chris practiced at Pleasant Street Dental with Dr. David Taft before buying Freeport Dental from the retiring Dr. Jonathan Strout. He holds active memberships in the American Dental Association, the Maine Dental Association, the Merrymeeting Bay Dental Society, and the Casco Bay Study Club.

He is married to photographer Cate Wnek, and is a father to two boisterous boys. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, designing kites (heck yeah!), learning electric guitar, watching his sons soccer games, reading on the hammock, and unwinding on the PS4 for a bit or two, or three!

Dr Wnek is fantastic. Been going to him for years. Before he opened his own office, he worked with my previous dentist, Dr. Taft.(Ret.) When I need emergency attention, which has been often, his receptionist, Pam, gets me in right away. He's been reconstructing a lot of my breaking teeth using composite, knowing I can't afford the alternative. Great guy, great dentist. Top notch service, top notch results/quality. Very comfortable atmosphere, exceptional staff, good music! Easy, close, always dependable. First dentist I actually enjoy visiting!!!!!!! I will continue with Dr. Wnek as long as he remains in practice. Sincerely, Nat Coffin

I highly recommend Dr. Wnek at Freeport Dental as well as the hygienist's and the staff. I've had a couple of recent dental emergencies where they have come in after normal business hours and found them to be very compassionate always! If you're looking for a new dentist don't hesitate to select Freeport Dental!

Review for Dr. Christopher M. Wnek, DMD I would like to give the highest possible rating and review to Dr. Wnek and his staff for coming to my aid when I was on vacation in Maine. Two days after I arrived in Maine, I broke the bridge out of my front teeth. I was desperate to get it repaired since I had to participate in a grave side service that week as well as visit numerous family and friends. I personally visited the office of four other dentists but they would not see me that week or for the next three weeks. My sister-in-law suggested I call Dr. Wnek. His office manager, Donna, was very considerate and asked if I could come in the next day. I arrived at his office in Freeport about 10 am. Dr. Wnek came into the waiting area to personally greet me and discuss my situation. I have never ever experienced a doctor or dentist provide that kind of personal attention. He examined my old bridge and after some deliberation he said he could make a retainer to provide a support to hold the old bridge in place. I expected him to say it would be 3-4 days before it was ready. However, he said he could have it done that same afternoon. The retainer worked perfectly. In fact, no one could tell that the retainer was holding the bridge. The story does not end there. He warned me to be careful about chewing hard on the retainer since it is only temporary. I did not heed his advice and broke the retainer the next week. I came by his office with the broken retainer at 2 pm. He made another in two hours and I was on my way. His dental assistant, also named Donna, was very friendly and considerate. I had a gag response when an impression was taken for the retainer. She made special preparations to make the process as quick and easy as possible and stayed with me for the minute or so the impression was being made. The best part is that Donna, the Office Manager, said there would be no charge at that time and they would bill my insurance for the services. Thank you Dr. Wnek, Office Manager Donna, and Dental Assistant Donna for taking the extra time and effort to resolve my crisis and make my dental experience the best I have ever had.
