Dr. Newkirk is a member of the American Dental Association and a delegate for the Kansas Dental Association. She has served as the President of the First District of the Kansas Dental Association and the Douglas County Dental Association. She was appointed to the UMKC School of Dentistry Dental Alumni Association Board. She also participates as a member of the Spear Study Club, which is a select group of dentists who meet monthly for continuing education and to discuss complex cases.

Dr. Newkirk currently holds the board position of secretary for the Kansas Dental Association (KDA). She is also a member of the American College of Dentist, the oldest major honorary organization for dentist. Their mission is to advance excellence, ethics, professionalism, and leadership in dentistry.

She is a founding member of the Lawrence chapter of the National Charity League. She volunteers at the Douglas County Dental Clinic and Free Dental Day as well as the Kansas Mission of Mercy. She resides in Lawrence with her husband Kevin and their three children, Tanner, Ryann, and Nicholas. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Brad Adams grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa, and since high school he knew he wanted to be a dentist. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where he graduated with honors with a degree in Accounting. While at ISU, he was very involved in his fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon. He was also a walk-on running back for the football team which led to him earning a varsity letter and the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award, the Big 12s highest academic achievement honor.Following his graduation with ISU, he attended the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. Brad currently serves on the Kansas Dental Association Board of Trustees, and is a past president of the Kansas Dental Association First District.

In July 2016, Brad married the love of his life and long-time girlfriend, Abby. They met while living in the dorms at Iowa State and she has supported him on his journey ever since. In 2019 their son Charlie was born. In Brads spare time he enjoys being active outside. He likes to run, play soccer, and golf. He also likes to work in his garden and enjoys small carpentry projects around the home.

Being a dentist in Lawrence truly brings a smile to Brads face every day, and it is his goal that he can do the same for all his patients. He looks forward to continuing to provide the best care possible and making new life-long relationships with all the wonderful people in Kansas.

Jamie joined our team in 2015 as one of our Dental Assistants. She resides in Lawrence and enjoys crafting and cooking with her two daughters in her free time. Jamie is also a certified personal trainer and teaches group fitness classes.

Kim is also one of our Dental Assistants. She started her career with dentistry in 1995 with our office and has attended several continuing education classes over the course of her career. She enjoys cooking, shopping and spending time with her family. She lives just outside of Lawrence with her husband Richard and their two sons.

Adrienne joined our practice in 2015 as one of our Administrative Assistants. She has since grown her role to include Dental Assisting and Marketing. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Anthropology. Adrienne lives in Lawrence with her husband Pete and their son. Her daughter recently left for college on the east coast. She is a return adopter at the Lawrence Humane Society, where she and her family periodically visit to find their next pet. Adrienne enjoys baking and cooking with her family, and is an avid reader.

Erica joined Free State Dental in the summer of 2017. She has been a practicing Registered Dental Hygienist since 2005 and studied at Johnson County Community College. Erica was born and raised in Lawrence and is the mom to three boys. She spends much of her free time chasing and supporting her boys and their many activities. As a family they enjoy movie nights, fire pits, and gardening. Erica also enjoys learning and creating things every chance she gets and is always looking for a new craft project.

Natalie is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She is a 2013 graduate of Johnson County Community Colleges Dental Hygiene program, and a 2010 graduate from Kansas State University with a Bachelors degree in Life Sciences. She began her dental career in 2009 as a dental assistant.

Ashley, our Office Manager, joined our team in 2009. She resides in Tonganoxie, KS, with her daughter Mikinzi. Her oldest daughter, Micah, attends the University of Kansas. Ashley enjoys cooking, traveling, Reggae music and sunshine. Her future plans are to move to Florida in 2025.

Erin is a Registered Dental Hygienist. Prior to entering the Johnson County Community College Dental Hygiene program, she attended Kansas State for one year. She has been in the dental profession since 1993 and has been with Free State Dental since 2007. Erin has lived in Lawrence since 2005 with her husband Bryan. Their oldest son Owen is attending Baker University, and their youngest son Isaac attends Free State High School. Erin enjoys time outdoors and time with her dogs!

Sara is a Registered Dental Hygienist and joined our practice in the summer of 2020. She graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program at Johnson County Community College in 2010. Sara lives in Tonganoxie, Kansas with her husband, Kevin, and their dogs. She also helps out in the office at their own small business, Kevins KC Brake and Auto Repair, located in the Crossroads District in KCMO. In her spare time, Sara loves to travel, try new restaurants, and be outdoors with her husband going for a run, kayaking, or just sitting on the deck watching the sunset.

Kayla is one of our Administrative Assistants and has been with us since 2018. She has always been a huge sports fanatic, but her all-time favorite team is the Kansas City Chiefs. Kayla enjoys spending her free time trying new foods, crafting, and hanging with her dog, Milli.

Keeli is a Registered Dental Hygienist who joined our practice in the spring of 2019. She graduated from Johnson County Community College. In her free time, she loves to go to the dog park with her fianc Connor, and golden retriever, Leroy. She also enjoys playing sports, camping, and traveling!

Kelsey joined our practice as an administrative assistant in January of 2021. She grew up in the Flint Hills and moved to Lawrence in 2014. She is a new mother to her son Quincy and has a husky mix named Aurora. In her free time, she loves to watch TV and movies, especially Marvel, and likes to travel as much as she can.

Brynn joined our team summer of 2021 and is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She grew up in Ottawa and loves spending time with her family, friends, her faith, and her most handsome fur baby Grizzwald. Her passion is fitness and traveling the world in search of the best beaches and key lime pie.

Haley joined the Free State Dental team in 2022 as an administrative assistant. She is an Ottawa native and moved to Lawrence in 2019. She enjoys eating all the Cajun dishes she prepares. Her cat, ESPN, is definitely not into sports. Haley enjoys listening to history podcasts, her favorite being Dark History. In her downtime, you can find Haley hiking at the Clinton Lake Trails or exploring downtown Mass. St.

Sarah is one of our Administrative Assistants and has been with us since Spring 2022. In her free time she enjoys crafting, cheering on the KC Chiefs, and being outdoors with her dog, Heidi. When the weather is nice you can find her at Perry lake soaking up the sunshine!
