Fredericktown Family Dental - General dentist in Fredericktown, MO

Dentistry enables me to provide life-changing outcomes for our patients. I love being able to connect with my patients and find out what is important to them. It is extremely exciting when I can figure out exactly what a patient wants and then provide the dentistry to meet that need. Listening to patients and taking the time to get to know them on a personal level it vital to provide the high level of service they deserve. Dr. Adams

Dr. John Adams earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Oklahomas dental school. He has spent years educating himself on advanced dental procedures, including tooth movement, sleep apnea treatment, and soft-tissue lasers. Certifications in Fastbraces and Invisalign allow him to improve the aesthetics and function of his patients smiles; treating sleep apnea with dental appliances can be extremely effective at preventing the health risks associated with sleep apnea; and lasers have helped lower the costs of many procedures and produce better, longer-lasting results. Dr. Adams affiliations with the American Dental Association and the American Sleep and Breathing Academy allow him to complete continuing education coursework and attend seminars throughout the year.

Dr. Adams grew up in Mesa, Arizona, and moved to Missouri ten years ago. Dr. Adams has been married to the love of his life, Ranae, for almost 20 years; they have five fantastic children, Sam, Skylie, Will, Ben, and Kate. Farm living lets them keep a variety of animals, including two dogs named Ronan and Tess, too many chickens to name, three cows, two heifers, and a steer.

Dr. Adams also spends a lot of time with his church and the Boy Scouts of America. He feels blessed to have grown up in a community that instilled good values and hard work, and hopes that he can help provide that for his children and future generations.

Ive been working in the dental field as a dentist for 24 years, though my family has been involved in the dental industry all my life. My father owned and operated a dental laboratory in 1976, and after he passed away, my older brother took it over. It seemed only natural for me to become a dentist.

As Ive practice dentistry over the years, one of the things that has stayed with me is that many of the dental restorations that Ive placed will very likely outlive me. Due to modern dental materials and methods, restorative materials are lasting longer and longer, and with people keeping their teeth longer it is a fact that many of the restorations I place today will continue to function day in and day out for decades. That is truly remarkable to me, and something that keeps me excited about the work I provide every day. Dr. Messer

Dr. Gavin Messer obtained his dental education from University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in Oklahoma City. Since graduating, he has taken an extensive number of continuing education courses in orthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, implantology, pediatrics, crown and bridge, sleep dentistry, and basic restorative to name just a few. These courses allow him to be well-versed in the latest trends in dentistry and bring the best and most complete options to his patients to help with all of their dental needs.

Dr. Messer was born in England to a military father and an English mother; they moved to Germany and then in 1976 moved to Kansas City, where his father retired and started his own business. Dr. Messer grew up in a suburb of Kansas City called Belton on the west side of the state. He practiced for many years in Colorado and moved back to Kansas City to be closer to family. He now lives in Fredericktown. Dr. Messer has two sons of whom he is very proud, Kenneth who lives with his mother in Colorado Springs and is in high school, and Spencer who is law school in Kansas City.

Dr. Messer is an avid reader, movie buff, and enjoys powered paramotor when the weather is nice. He also volunteers on the weekends at the scuba site at Bonne Terre mines, helping with their scuba classes and trips/tours.

For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for choosing to receive orthodontic care. If youre self-conscious about your smile, having braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.

When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile youve always dreamed of as well as the confidence to show it off! We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, so our practice is dedicated to making sure that you receive the quality care you deserve.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.

Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose from brackets that are clear or metallic, and in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!

Depending on several factors, including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is, treatment time varies and can last between one and three years. A big factor to a successful treatment is you, the patient! The more involved and diligent you are, the quicker and more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive, or early treatment, can also help provide a quicker treatment time later on in life.

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth by using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile.

Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene, as ceramic braces are larger and more brittle than their metal counterparts. For these reasons, ceramic braces tend to be used more on upper front teeth rather than on lower teeth.

Clear aligners are a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable acrylic trays that straighten your teeth like braces. Not only are the aligners invisible, they are also removable; so, you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, this helps to make brushing and flossing less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.

Let's start off with I'm almost 70 yrs. old and I was raised up in a military family. Horse needles were the first thing they reached for when any health or dental issues arose. The painful part is done now and on with the happy part of my story. A couple of months ago I had to make a last minute decision. To pay for two crowns or pull them. My husband just lost his job, no more paycheck and his insurance ending at end of month. Hmm...I started to panic! However, the dental associates were calm, caring and understanding with me when I explained the situation. Of course I didn't want to do either but a decision had to be made now and it had to be done that day. Luckily or not luckily for me someone canceled. That after noon it was on. The anxiety kicked in and Dr. Adams, bless his heart, knows I dislike coming for dental work. He knows my history. He calmly walks in and makes me laugh. I love that about his office. The kindness, office chatter, the revolving sweet assistances, constantly checking on patients to see how they are doing or if they need anything, listening intently to patients concerns and questions, and grand professionalism. Oh, I could go on and on, but we must get those two molars pulled. Thank goodness they were the last ones on my left side. Well, let's say it was easier said than done. But because, Dr. Adams is so aware and has awesome "chairside " manners he calmly walked me thru it the entire time. Letting my mouth rest, reassuring me even though his bicep was getting swollen and he needed a jack hammer to get the last one out. The two hours flew by with lots of laughs and giggles. They made a difficult day turn into a sunshine! What else can I say, I love the staff and Dr Adams for their patience with a scared old and difficult patient. I'll be back for those cavities in 2300!

My husband who has never been seen here woke with a terrible abscess. After many failed attempts to find someone to get him in (many had over a month wait) they had him in within the hour and treatment going. This is where our business will be going from now on.

I received two crowns less than three years ago. One of which fell out, caused by a broken post, in August 2020. Living in Katy, Tx I figured I had a warranty on said crowns. Five year warranty on each one, I was told. Instead of fixing the gaping hole in my mouth, I decided to call Fredericktown Family Dental. They agreed my crowns fell under warranty and we set up an appointment. My job requires certain sacrifices from me. Soon after the appointment was made, a restriction on travel to three states: Missouri, Louisiana and Arkansas. I would have to quarantine if anyone from my family entered these states. I canceled my appointment. I found a dentist in Katy who put on a temporary tooth, just so my wife wouldn't look at me funny anymore. He charged me nothing, because he felt bad. If you are in Katy, Texas, Allen Walker is the professional to see. He even offered to cut the cost of a new crown in half. Still under warranty, I declined. Fast forward to this morning, March 1, 2021. My family, fresh with the addition of our son in December, traveled back to Missouri to see family that we hadn't seen since the pandemic. I made the decision to get my tooth fixed up here. The appointment came and then I was told after x-rays that my warranty would not be granted. "Why?" I asked. What had changed since August (previous appointment that we agreed the warranty would take care of any charges)? Apparently having a temporary tooth for 6 1/2 months was too much of a concern for them (office manager?) Instead, they offered me a temporary tooth for $357, or a new crown for $500. Obviously, with a warranty still intact, I expected the sum total to be zero. Maybe pay for the dentist's time. With the office manager continuously sending in a messenger I cut my losses. I'd rather pay a dentist who cared about their clients $1400 (Walker) than someone who doesn't stand by their word (Fredericktown Family Dental). I'd discourage anyone from getting services done here. If a business doesn't stand by guarantees and warranties, what do they stand for? Surely they don't stand for the fine people of Fredericktown. Just another company looking out for it's bottom line, proving yet again, that people are greedy. Oh and the post they put in less than three years ago snapped like a twig. So their works suck too.

The dental work itself was good. I didn't feel the shots or any of the procedure. I would have given them 5 stars if it hadn't been for a 25 minute wait in my vehicle and my copay was $68 more than quoted, due to human error.

I went in for a new patient exam and cleaning. My Hygienist and her assistant were great. The doctor came in and did a through evaluation of my teeth. I was given a treatment plan with my needed treatment and they helped me plan out all my next steps. Will definitely recommend my friends and family here!

My sons appt was set up last week for 5pm on Monday July 5th. When we arrived I called inside to tell them we were here. In the initial call we decided what three teeth they would be fixing. He has several cavities that need fixed. She quoted me a price of $268 dollars . Well while I was sitting there I saw 2 different people go in without even calling and I was a little mad bc I was told I couldnt go in. (my son is 17). Well when they finally came out the lady tells me that the dr decided to fix a different one than the ones we had agreed upon and then I find out that they charged me $328 instead without even asking me if that was ok. Well Im a single mom and it just so happened I had enough to cover it but my son had my card so I had no idea till after the fact. I chose them even though they aren't in my network bc I work in Bonne Terre and its more convenient as our regular dentist is in Farmington. But after yesterday, and the unprofessionalism, I will be going back to Farmington. But the actual dental work was fine.

They have been awesome...Dr Messer is doing implants for me and he and his team are amazing. They really do care about how your feeling and that everything is comfortable for you during the entire process. Dr. Messer makes sure to answer all your questions no matter how silly they sound. So glad I found this team...try them out and you will be glad too.
