Everyone at the office that I interacted with was very welcoming and pleasant. Carisa, the dental hygienist, was personable and friendly. She passed no judgment at my lack of flossing. I will try to be better at that. Dr. Varanelli was very thorough and patient. Great job by all.

Mr. Varanelli is an excellent dentist which will excede your expectations. He has done work that many other dentist said couldn't be done. Multiple other dentist said my fiance needed multiple root canals and other work that was over 10k. He has ensured the process has been quick and painless every step of the process. He's not there to just take as much money as possible, He's there to help. Him, his assistant Becky, and Renee in billing are all very friendly and professional. Definitely worth going here, you will be thankful to find such a great place!

Dr Frank Varanelli DDS is one of the most kind and gentle dentists I have had in my lifetime and I am now 66 years old. He is amazing and does wonderful work on my teeth. I love his hygienists too; who are professional and fun at the same time. Recently I had an appointment with Emily, an awesome hygienist who did a superior job cleaning my teeth. Everyone at this office are so nice, I have recommend my friends to see Dr. Varanelli. I love the quaint office where he is located here in Winchester, Va and every dental room I have been in has a nice outside view. I haven't experienced a Dentist like Dr. Frank Varanelli since my first family Dentist when I was growing up. I look forward to my visits with him. There is nothing to fear while in his care.

I don't often write reviews, if ever. I had an appointment scheduled for today with my son and I. As we are waiting, we hear coughing, phlegm hacking, and more coughing. This goes one for at least 5 minutes straight. I go to find out if someone is sick. The receptionist offers to reschedule us which I accept. My son peeks around the corner and in fact a uniformed employee is in the bathroom coughing violently. We were in the waiting area 12 minutes and the entire 12 minutes was filled with the sound of this persons hacking up a lung, the coughing sound moving throughout the areas where patients are seen. Even pre-Covid this would be disturbing. Send sick employees home, period. Send them outside to hack up a lung. Whatever you do, don't let customer's hear this!!! We were grossed out and frankly, not sure I want to go back.

I'm not sure where to start. I fully agree with the previous review 100%. We should have noticed the red flags as soon as Varanelli took over the practice and fired every person who worked there. The next red flag, he rehired and fired all of the new staff. Since those instances there have been various staff turnover. Their excuse for not getting back with you regarding questions is consistently that the person just left and we are so sorry we will get this figured out for you. Oh the other excuse, his wife is a royal pain in the bum and she controls everything and everyone is so fearful of their jobs because of her. One more, before you can even get a service provided the reception is really skilled at collecting money from you prior to heading back to the chair. I've never been to any medical practice in my life that requires this. In fact our new dentists will invoice us if they are unsure what insurance will pay out. Co-pays however are always collected after the service has been received. Aside from the financial fiascos encountered, I had a botched root canal, basically shelled out $1400 to Dr. Varanelli and told him days later that I was still having pain, he told me he couldn't find anything wrong. I took it upon myself to ask around and someone recommended going to an endodontist, which he never recommended. I did just that and sure enough there was an extra root on the tooth that he missed not to mention the use of low grade rods and fill material. Had to shell out another $2,800 for that and after mentioning this to Dr. Varanelli he offered nothing in return. I let him finish the crown given he had already placed the temp on the tooth and then decided our family would leave the practice for this reason and because they are participating in insurance fraud. In terms of insurance fraud, they are collecting co-pays even if they are in network with your supplemental and they are getting reimbursed directly from the supplemental insurance company after collecting your co-pay. I finally realized this after reviewing my statements and seeing how much my supplemental paid them and finally called the insurance company and Varanelli's office to request reimbursement. Our supplemental indicated that the office is supposed to indicate on the claim how much the patient paid out of pocket at the time of visit and they are writing $0, so the supplemental sends them another check to cover the co-pay that the main insurance requires. They also banked money on my crown due to overcharging me and collecting from my supplemental and also from our family of 4 preventative care visits this past year. When questioned about it, they informed us that they will either look into it or send us a reimbursement and never do. Still fighting out of principal and will do everything in my power to make sure this doesn't happen to someone else especially to those who don't understand how insurance works. If this is happening to you contact your insurance fraud department, Virginia Consume Protection Services and the Better Business Bureau. Google him and you will see his license was suspended. This is not all fiction. It was in the Winchester Star.
