The TMJs are the joints connecting the jaw to the skull. They allow your mouth to open, close, and move from side to side. TMJ disorder refers to any problems with the joint itself, or with the surrounding muscles and ligaments. TMJ disorder can be caused by a number of factors, including:

At Four Seasons Dental, we offer occlusal mouth guards, one of the most effective treatment options for TMJ disorder. Patients are instructed to wear their customized mouth guards, or splints, over their teeth for a pre-determined period of time that is based on their symptoms and the severity of their condition. Some patients may need to wear their splints 24 hours a day, while others may only need to wear them at night. Stabilization splints can prevent patients from clenching or grinding their teeth, while repositioning splints can actually move the jaw forward, relaxing ligaments and jaw muscles and improving a patients bite.

Since some treatment options for sleep apnea are similar to those for TMJ disorder, Dr. Sluser also treats mild to moderate cases of this sleep disorder. Sleep apnea occurs when a person stops breathing during sleep, typically because the tongue and throat muscles fall against the back of the throat, blocking the airway. The repeated interruptions throughout the night prevent patients from achieving the deepest and most restful stages of sleep. The most common symptom is snoring.

To determine whether you are suffering from sleep apnea, Dr. Sluser can refer you to a specialist who can conduct a sleep study. If the specialist determines that you have mild to moderate sleep apnea, Dr. Sluser may prescribe a mouthpiece to be worn at night. This device can push the jaw slightly forward, keeping the airways open so you can achieve restful sleep.

If you suffer from symptoms of TMJ disorder or sleep apnea, call Four Seasons Dental today. Dr. Sluser is ready to answer your questions, help you with any necessary referrals, and provide you with conservative, effective treatment options.

If you are bothered bycrooked or misaligned teeth, you should know that advancements in the field of orthodontics are making treatment more efficient, more comfortable, and more subtle than ever before. Four Seasons Dental offers Invisalign at our Pittsburgh dental practice, a treatment option that uses clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth quickly and effectively. The Invisalign treatment plan is tailored to meet the needs and concerns of each patient, and Dr. Timothy Sluser will work closely with you to ensure you can achieve a straighter, more attractive smile that also offers oral health benefits.

This orthodontic option is effective in treating a wide range of dental issues, including overbites, underbites, crossbites, gapped teeth, and crowded teeth. However, not everyone is a good candidate for Invisalign. Patients who require a significant amount of correction to their bite, for example, may be better candidates for traditional braces, which we also offer at our practice. Dr. Sluser provides highly personalized service and will discuss your condition and treatment goals with you to determine the best treatment.

If Dr. Sluser determines you are a good candidate for Invisalign treatment, he will make detailed impressions of your teeth. These impressions will be sent to an Invisalign lab, where technicians will create a customized series of clear, removable aligner trays, shaped similarly to the trays used duringteeth whitening. Once you receive your aligners, you will wear them daily for nine to fifteen months. The aligners should be worn at least 22 hours a day, but they can be removed while you are eating, or brushing and flossing. Every two weeks, you will switch to the next aligner in the series. Over the course of your treatment, the aligners will gently shift your teeth into their new positions.

Todays teenagers lead busy lives and participate in a variety of sports and activities that can be hindered by wearing traditional braces. For these reasons, Invisalign Teen is the treatment of choice for many teenagers and their parents. Invisalign requires fewer visits to the dentists office than traditional braces, and the product comes

Dr. Sluser is also proud to offer the latest development in Invisalign technology, Invisalign Express. Invisalign Expressis preferred by many patients who have minor spacing or crowding issues. It works similarly to traditional Invisalign treatment, but the accelerated process can typically be completed in as little as ten weeks.

Sat in the waiting room (which is comparable to a broom closet) for over 40 minutes before I left. Obviously overbook and cannot honor the appointment times they schedule

I know wveryone has different experience but the team is very nice and shows sympathy. I hate needles but they are always good about it and make sure I'm completely numb. I was there today with a swollen face due to an infection and abscess. I was only there to have the abscess drained but he took extra time to do a root canal. He was busy and it was at closing, but he still took the time to do the root canal so the underlying problem wouldn't cause more issues. I have had 2 root canals by him and both went smooth with minor pain after the local anesthesia wore off. They are not judgmental at all and will listen to your concerns. Idk any other dentist that would work their day off to help someone and I greatly appreciate him taking time from his family and life to help me so I wouldn't have to suffer through the weekend. Now I get to heal over thr weekend instead of while working. It's an inviting atmosphere and comfortable. It makes it much easier to explain your problem without worrying about being judged. The entire staff made me feel at ease by explaining everything and showing me so I could understand what I needed done. Cant thank them enough for getting me in asap both times I was in pain and needed work asap. I definitely recommend 4 seasons to friends and family.

I give this place one star and that's being nice, this place is horrible, which is so sad cuz it used to be awesome till they got a new dentist then they went downhill real fast! I cant express how rude the front desk people are ,the dentist canceled my daughter's appointment 4 times in a row, then they told me to call at the beginning of the year when I did the lady yelled at me for not showing up to my last appointment that they canceled, the dentist himself was rude didnt really seem like he even knew what he was doing the hygienists was very nice and was telling the dentist how he should fix our teeth rather knowing himself the dentist was very unprofessional swearing the whole time and u just got the feeling that you couldn't trust him to do anything we left and found a much better dentist if I was you I would run away from this place run fast

I recently moved into my new apartment and was looking for a good dentist. My co-worker recommended Four Seasons Dental saying they're the best in the area. At first I wasn't going to go since I initially decided on a different dental office. But I'm so glad I went! Dr. Timothy Sluser and his staff were very accommodating. My visit was more pleasant and smooth than any of my previous visits at other dental offices. They gladly helped me with everything I needed to know and answered all of my questions. I will now be going there every time I need to see a dentist.

My last visit with this office was truly my last visit. It was a terrible experience! I had to see a dentist I had never seen before as the one I usually saw was out of town. Dr. Garrett came barging into the room without even saying hello or introducing himself or bothering to look at my file. He immediately started yelling at me and jerking at and poking inside my mouth very roughly. He wasn't paying attention and actually poked my face with the hook. He also spoke very rudely to the hygienist who was a very nice young lady. I will never go back there again!

This is the worst dentist ever, I had a severe tooth pain, made an emergency dentist appt, the dentist(older gentleman ) gave me antibiotic and sent me on my way, it wasn't even infected, I was in so much pain that I called back the next day and they said the medication needs to kick in, it never did, I kept calling back and they said there was no one there to help me, I had to then go out and find another dentist to help me. I also have partials, I went back today to get help with the partials and they said they couldn't help. Shame on them, you are supposed to fix teeth not make them worse. I will be spreading the word because what they are doing is wrong, and I would never send a family member or friend there.
