Our office adheres to a strict sterilization protocol which is mandated by OSHA. We use ultrasonic techniques in combination with the state-of-the-art dental autoclave. These two systems clean and sterilize our instruments at a level not easily obtained by traditional methods and are strictly monitored to be in compliance with the highest level of infection control.
All of our endodontic treatments are performed under a powerful surgical operating microscope which allows the endodontist maximum visual control in a remarkably precise manner. This technology allows us to completely treat and more accurately diagnose many complex situations.
We believe in minimizing the radiation exposure to our patients and improve diagnostic capabilities by utilizing an advanced digital radiography system. This technology also eliminates environmental exposure of x-ray films and hazardous byproducts.
Dr. Mehran Fotovatjah grew up in the Bay Area and attended San Jose State University. He received his dental degree with the highest honors from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco in 1993. With his interest in endodontics, he then continued and obtained his certificate in advanced graduate studies in endodontics in 1995. He was a faculty member as an associate clinical professor at Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry. Dr. Fotovatjah and his wife, Dr. Zahra Falsafi, moved back to the Bay Area in 1998.
He has been practicing in Palo Alto since May 1998. He became a Board diplomat in the field of endodontics in 2001. He is the past president of the Mid-Peninsula Dental Society. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, California Dental Association, Mid-Peninsula Dental Society, American Board of Endodontics, and College of Board Diplomats, OKU. Dr. Fotovatjah loves spending time with his wife and two daughters and enjoys swimming, skiing, and hiking.
Dr. Leila Zahedi received her dental degree from the UCSF School of Dentistry in 2009. She subsequently attended and graduated from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine Endodontics Program in 2011, after which she moved back to the Bay Area to work as an endodontist.
She is a member of the American Association of Endodontics, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Mid-Peninsula Dental Society. She is also active in providing endodontics services to children from low-income families. Dr. Zahedi lives with her husband, son, and daughter in Menlo Park. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoys yoga, skiing, and traveling.

My dentist of many years referred me to Dr. Fotovatjah for a root canal (my first). He fit me into his busy schedule that day to assess the situation, and within a few days he had completed the procedure. He is a pro, and I can see why my referring dentist has confidence in him. Just as important, Dr. Fotovatjah has a great caring, calm, and confidence-inspiring manner, and he explains things well. My root canal was, literally, painless. Very happy with my experience.

I had a root canal procedure with Dr Fotovatjah. I had never done a root canal and based on what everyone said, expected a lot of pain during/after the procedure. Dr Fotovatjah explained the treatment clearly to me beforehand. The whole thing took about an hour and it was painless. The procedure was done professionally and I am very satisfied.

I just had my first root canal with Dr. Fotovatjah. Wow! Extremely professional from booking through the procedure. Staff was excellent. Procedure went smoothly. Even local anesthetic was barely noticeable. Highly recommended. Actually less pain than with a normal filling.

I had spoke with 2 other Endodntists in the areas. Dr. Fotovatjah described the entire process and really made you feel at ease. I had postponed getting this root canal done for 7 years. The procedure was painless, felt pressure on the tooth but never any pain. It went by so fast , the Doctor told me i could wear my head set and listen to music, the next thing I new he was finished. I highly recommend him for anyone needing a root canal.

I'm still impressed by Dr. Fotovatjah and his team. Everyone I met from the team is super professional. I had a few root canal treatments in my live and this one was by far the most pleasant and most professional I got.
