Dr. Cory Fortson is a third-generation dentist following the career of his Grandfather and Father. Fortson Family Dentistry was started over 30 years ago by Dr. Raymond Fortson, Jr., who went by 'Bo'.
Dr. Cory Fortson joined Dr. Bo in the practice in 2014 after graduating from The University of Detroit Mercy Dental School and took over the practice when Dr. Raymond Fortson, Jr. passed in 2016. The team members at Fortson Family Dentistry pride themselves on the family atmosphere they've created for their patients as well as team members.
Fortson Dentistry has grown to 5 locations with the addition of the Gentle Touch and Milford practices in 2021. Our goal at Fortson Dentistry is to provide top comprehensive dental care within our group practice. In addition to our hygiene patients and routine procedures, we take on more complex procedures such as oral surgery, bone grafts, sinus lifts, braces and Invisalign, endodontics, and dental implants and we have skilled doctors to perform these procedures in-house in most cases. Currently, all specialty services are performed out of our Lathrup Village - South and Milford offices.
Fortson Family Dentistry utilizes top diagnostic technology to provide the best possible care for our patients. We utilize a Vatech Green CT, a Dental Cone-Beam CT scanner, which has improved its x-ray sensors to create high-quality images with a relatively low dose of radiation. Used in tandem with advanced 3D Imaging Software; our Doctors get a detailed look at your overall dental health.
We also use various Intraoral scanners such as the Medit i500 and iTero to create digital impressions of your oral anatomy for crowns and clear aligners. These scanners are more efficient and accurate than traditional impression molds, so you can start your treatment sooner.

Hands down the friendliest people!!! Called first thing in the morn with an emergency and they got me in within 2 1/2 hours and were able to help me immediately with a root canal. All the staff was very kind and helpful. Visiting the dentist is never fun, but this office made it absolutely wonderful.

I'm a patient who came over from the Dr Kohler practice a couple years ago, & there was a very different 'vibe' in the offices - hard to explain, but I've become very comfortable w/this group. Rachel in the front office is wonderful. I've had Invisalign 'braces' - which I've just 'completed', a bridge & crown replacements (replacing broken crowns or fillings that were decades old), & my teeth have never looked anywhere near as as good as they do now. Dr. Tanafranca is great- relaxed, patient, great at explaining what he's doing & why - great chair-side manner. His assistant is similarly great.

Satisfaction Dr Fortson was recommended to me by Dr Dana Greer is is a friend and former school mate with my girls. Fortunately it was a good recommendation. He is fourth generation dentist and I felt safe with him. I'm traveling all the way from Atlanta where I live now and he was worth the trip. He knows what he is doing very skilled and very kind and patient. His team are also very nice and Chrissy the office manager hugs me every time I come in their office. I'm having implants done which is a big deal so I wanted a Doctor who know what he is doing. I highly recommend him.

I must say I was very grateful you were able to fit me into your schedule to replace the screw which came out. However, I was very furious to discover that my entire implant procedure was not paid for in full. Why would I find out in the middle of the process that I had an additional $2000 plus to pay for a scan and my new tooth. One would've thought that should have been included in the initial price quote. You get me in here under false pretenses and then advise me right before the procedure that I have more money to pay before it could actually occur. This should have been clearly discussed when I first came in to inquire about getting an implant. That's just like me buying a car and I finding out when I arrive to pick up the car, I am obligated to pay additional money to get the engine and tires. This has definitely left me uncertain about allowing you to complete this process. Who pays over $5000 for one implant? This is truly an example of bait and switch!
