Dr. Matt Forster received his undergraduate education from Union College, earning a degree in biology with honors distinction. He then entered dental school at the University of Pennsylvania with a full scholarship from the United States Navy. He graduated at the top of his class for which he received many rewards, including the Matthew Cryer Award, Best Clinical Dentist Award and election by the faculty into the National OKU Dental Honor Society.
He then was selected for an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program in the Navy and served two years forward deployed onboard USS Ponce (LPD-15) as Chief Dental Officer and department head.
Following active duty, Dr. Forster returned to the University of Pennsylvania for a residency program in orthodontics. During his residency, he was awarded the clinical research award and publication in the international European Journal of Orthodontics.
Dr. Forster specializes in orthodontic treatment for children, teens and adults. His patients benefit from receiving the latest orthodontic technology on the market.He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the American Dental Association, American Cleft Lip and Palate Association, Rhode Island Dental Association, Rhode Island Association of Orthodontists and past president of the Newport County Dental Society.
Dr. Forster lives in Aquidneck Island with his wife, Meredith, and their three beautiful daughters. They all enjoy outdoor activities, especially the beach, boating and cycling, and spending time giving back to the community!

It's never to late to get your teeth straightened , my bottom teeth were crooked and uneven, the look just bother me . Dr Foster and his team did a amazing job correcting my bottom teeth. Don't give up on yourself it's never to late, I am 70 years old and in my opinion it was money will spent.

From the first visit to the 'drop ins' to my son's last visit to get his braces off, this office, this staff has been amazing, professional and has done so much for my son's situation with his upper jaw issues. To see the progress over the past 14 months or so, and realize how much better his smile is and the confidence that now comes with it is unreal. I thank you all, you are amazing at what you do on both a professional and personal level. And my son and I cannot thank you enough for helping him.

I just finished getting my teeth straightened by Dr Forster (Matt) and his staff at their Portsmouth office. Awesome process and very happy with results. I'm in my 60s so not same as getting braces "as a kid". The technology and products that Matt and team use are state of the art and make getting your teeth straightened easier/faster/better. I'm a tech guy so especially liked the 3D hand scanner and high end "low dose" panoramic digital XRAYs they use to create exact representation of all your teeth (no messy impressions with gooey stuff),. And every aspect of the process was executed in the best yet most effective "technology assisted" fashion. But in the end it comes down to the capabilities of the doctor and staff. And that was awesome. I always felt I got all the attention I needed and Matt was a master with orthodontics. I chose to go with "conventional" braces using brackets attached to the teeth and wires to do the straightening rather than the "Invisalign" option they also provide because it works faster and I wouldn't need to keep track of the plastic teeth straighteners you put in and take out that are central to Invisalign (the permanent brackets and wires used for my process couldn't "get lost"). The fact that the conventional approach was cheaper was an added bonus. In my job doing software development I always say "good, fast, cheap -- pick any two". This was the rare case where I felt I got good (awesome), fast and cheap. Clearly I highly recommend Dr Matt Forster as the person to straighten your teeth and "fix your smile"!

We were able to make a next-day appointment. Staff were friendly and professional on the phone and in person. Jen was amiable throughout our entire initial consultation and she was able to answer all questions. Dr Forster was gregarious, knowledgeable, professional, and efficient.
