Dr. Patrick M. Grogan is an expert, caring dentist who puts his patients wellbeing first. He treats his patients as he would his family. Over the years, he has invested thousands of hours in courses & research developing his treatment methods & procedures.

When a tooth has been significantly damaged, the traditional approach is to shave the entire tooth down and cap the tooth with a crown. While this may still be appropriate in some cases,Dr. Grogan has found that by using a resin bonded restoration he is able to save more tooth structure & keep teeth stronger for longer.

This minimally invasive philosophy of care has proven itself over the 30+ years Dr. Grogan has been practicing dentistry. By improving on the traditional resin bonded restoration techniques, hes been able to provide his patients with longer lasting restorations and avoid having to place crowns on over 50% of his patients.

With a resin bonded restoration like an onlay or an inlay, Dr. Grogan uses a lab created restoration that fits exactly over the area that has been removed because of tooth decay. In this way, he is able to only remove the section of the tooth that has decay thus preserving more tooth structure than with a crown.

More importantly, the way the restoration is bonded to the tooth allows it to mimic more closely the natural tooth structure and function. Over several decades, he has observed that this leads to less problems down the line and results in superior longevity (compared to crowns).

Over the past 30 years, Dr. Grogan has taken various leadership positions among his colleagues to help further & improve the field of dentistry. He is currently a member of the following associations & groups:

Straight Talk about Crooked Tooth Dr. Patrick Grogan is proud to have been one of the first dentists in Washington DC to be trained in using Invisalign. He has advanced training and certification in using Invisalign and has helped over 1000 patients achieve a beautifully straight smile using this nearly invisible system.

Invisalign is the nearly invisible way to straighten your teeth. Invisaligns clear aligners are virtually invisiblethat means you can always feel confident showing your smile, even while youre wearing your aligners to straighten your teeth. Just as important, you can eat all your favorite foods and brush and floss without the problems associated with traditional orthodontic treatments.

Getting your teeth straightened isnt just for teenagers anymore. Many adults who have felt uncomfortable with their smiles now have straight, healthy teeth. You can, too! If you werent able to get your teeth straightened when you were younger, now is the time to find out more about Invisalignthe clear alternative to metal braces and wires. Even if you did straighten your teeth when you were younger, your teeth may have relapsed over time. Invisalign can be a great way to correct this very common problem among adults.

Besides achieving the beautiful straight smile youve always wanted, there are many health benefits to straightening your teeth. Teeth that are not aligned properly in your mouth create what dentists call malocclusion. Left untreated, malocclusion can lead to periodontal disease and create abnormal amounts of stress on teeth and jaws, which leads to premature wear. Properly aligned teeth are easier to brush and floss than crowded or crooked teeth. With good oral hygiene, the chances of having plaque retention, tooth decay and periodontal disease can be reduced. Properly aligned teeth also reduce the risk of expensive procedures required to repair the effects of abnormal force, such as tooth chipping, breaking, or wear; and can be less stressful on the supporting jaw bone and joints. Straightening your teeth can make a significant difference to having a healthy mouth and keeping your teeth for life.

Treatment with Invisalign is quick and easy. With Invisalign, you dont wear metal braces. Instead, your teeth are straightened by wearing a series of clear plastic aligners. The aligners are so inconspicuous that most people wont be able to tell youre wearing them. Youll wear each set of clear aligners for about two weeks at a time, while your teeth move little by little toward the smile youve always wanted. The aligners are worn all the time, except when youre eating, drinking anything but water, brushing, and flossing. Because the aligners are removable, you can eat all your favorite foods.

We cant tell you exactly how long your treatment will take. But, on average, Invisalign treatment takes about one year or less. You will visit our office every month or two to check your progress and get a new set of aligners.

The cost of treatment is similar in cost to traditional braces. In addition, if you have orthodontic coverage, Invisalign is often covered to the same extent as traditional braces. Dr. Grogan also offers a variety of affordable payment plans. Our office will be happy to work with you on all of the insurance and financial details.

Our technology allows us to ensure that every possible precaution has been made to reduce the risk of involvement of the nerves of the lower jaw, and the sinuses and nose in the upper jaw. It also benefits in less chair time and the possibility of complications.

CBCT Scans provide Dr. Grogan with a detailed view of the anatomy of your jaw and allow him to diagnose and plan with accuracy. In the past, patients would have to visit a hospital or outpatient facility to obtain a three dimensional x-ray to fully evaluate the structures.

Cone beam imaging is ideal for patient comfort. It offers an open-environment design that reduces anxiety, and images can be taken in as little as 8.5 seconds, limiting discomfort and exposure to radiation.

After years of dental issues, I've been referred to Dr. Grogan--by my oral surgeon, Dr. Clarence Lindquist. Dr. G has established a unique dialogue with me about my needs and proposals for long-term care. Being Dr. G's patient is akin to being in a graduate-level dental seminar. How great is that ! DMM
