Dentistry is the perfect blend of science and art. If done well, it can be life- changing. I obtain a great deal of satisfaction in exceeding patient expectations. When a patient can go from feeling the need to hide their teeth from others to being able to show off their beautiful smile, it is palpable and emotional.
I enjoy all aspects of dentistry; I take a great deal of pride in delivering quality pain-free care in all areas. Cosmetic dentistry is my passion; when a patient goes from being ashamed to show their teeth at all to having a Hollywood smile, it is life changing. I live for those moments!
Originally from the Lowcountry and a Cum Laude graduate of Summerville High School, I attended Charleston Southern University, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Business Administration. My curiosity in science drove me to pursue a career in the field, and I worked as a chemist for the Bayer Corporation for nearly eight years.
During this time, I chose to receive orthodontic treatment, and my life changed forever. The feeling I had when I first looked in the mirror after having my braces were removed was overwhelming and profound; although my teeth were only somewhat crooked prior to braces, my end-result was incredibly well done and it transformed my appearance. I felt pure joy! It was at that moment that I knew I wanted to give other people that same feeling.
Ongoing continuing education helps us to keep up with the ever-changing world of dentistry. Technology has changed by leaps and bounds in the past decade, and staying current with the trends in the profession helps me to deliver the highest-quality care to our patients.
My wife Erin and I are fortunate to live close to many relatives including nieces and nephews in the Upstate and the Lowcountry. When Im not at work or with my family and friends, I enjoy hiking, camping, playing guitar, reading, and various sports.
The relationships and personal bonds that I have developed with my patients over the past 40 years are profoundly meaningful to me. It is wonderful to care for their teeth, but an even greater honor to walk with them through the ups and downs of life.
I am so grateful to the Lord for the skills He gifted me with to care and serve the needs of others. However, I have received so many more blessings from those I have been privileged to call my patients and my friends. My life has been enriched beyond measure by the lives dentistry as allowed me to be a part of.
I have always loved to work with my hands and had an interest in science and biology. I also enjoy working out complex designs in my head. All of this made dentistry an obvious and exciting choice for me. I attended Clemson University for my Bachelor of Science in Pre-Dental and the Medical College of Georgia for my Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
Continuing education courses allow me to keep up with the most current practices and procedures for excellent patient care and successful treatment. My exposure to the latest advancements in restorative materials and instrumentation, whether through attendance at in-person conventions or through online coursework, helps ensure that my patients are receiving the best available dental care.
I am originally from Newberry, South Carolina, and have lived in Spartanburg for 42 years. I met my wife at Clemson University 46 years ago. We have four grown and married children, seven grandchildren, and two more on the way!
I play golf several times a week, but you wont find me riding in a golf cartI walk when I play! I also spend as much time with my grandkids as possible, though it involves some travel since they are in Minneapolis, Louisville, and Charlotte.
A smile is contagious, and I love being able to help my patients feel confident with their smile. As a dentist I enjoy finding solutions to my patients problems and dental needs. Getting to know my patients and help them have positive experiences at the dental office is one of my top priorities.
We are in an exciting time in the dental field where technology is expanding and can be used to aid our patients needs. I look forward to being a lifelong learner and incorporating the latest research into my practice so that patients can trust they are receiving the best care.
Originally from Clover, SC, in the upstate of South Carolina, I moved to the midlands of South Carolina and attended the University of South Carolina where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with Honors from the University of South Carolina Honors College. I furthered my education by attending the Medical University of South Carolina where I received my Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
I enjoy serving my community locally at free/reduced cost clinics and abroad through mission trips. I am also an active member of the American Dental Association and South Carolina Dental Association.

What a great group of people. Very kind and caring. Over the past several months, I have experienced several unexpected dental issues. At 66, I am sure I bring some joy to the staff at Foothills. When I walk in they have to see $$ signs floating around my head; broken teeth, teeth not worth rebuilding, teeth that need repair, a root canal, a crown, and then the grand finale, a TRIPLE CROWN (bridge). I am so thankful for technology, my new tooth and 3 tooth bridge (triple crown) were "printed" at the office on a 3D printer. Thank you to Kate and the Staff. - David N Holliday

Great service!!! I was early and was taken back before my appointment time. I had lost a filling on a front tooth and great care was taken to make sure of the best match and it is perfect, I can't tell it was ever repaired. Also, great care was taken to make sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure.

Only reason they got 1 star was my hygienist Stephanie from the pine street location and Beth the hygienist at the location. I was offered a closer appointment for a cleaning/ scaling for my teeth that was told would be a $30 out of pocket expense, after calling about issues with benefits not being provided by my insurance company kept a positive attitude and was informed i overpaid for my last visit and had a balance of around $49 remaining on my account, Jennifer (insurance specialist) said I was informed of this $30 out of pocket expense was included along with the remainder balance posted at 10/11 and it taking 1-2 weeks to mail checks out then questioned why I was never contacted no response given other than the time to receive the check of stated amount it is currently 10/26 when previously being stated my only out of pocket expense was $30 no more to come in earlier than the appointment scheduled due to financial reasons and asking multiple times what I was required to pay because they were doing a training exercise within the locations of Spartanburg and my exact cost I was having to cover price remained $30 that them and the insurance would be covering the rest. When called back about the problem reported I was responded multiple times with a laugh stating " we are not trying to take advantage of your remainder balance and extensive attempts to explain I was cut short by this person when trying to explain they enlightened me it was my insurance company being difficult. Poor management, poor customer service, received attitude after stressing multiple times I was not trying to be difficult just looking for an answer as to why I had to pay almost $80 to a service I was informed of being $30. Wonderful care from staff of my hygienist provided for the visit and wonderful care from Dr. Hill. And all front office people at the pine street location, Once and only time visiting Reidville road. Currently awaiting information on previous visits I shouldn't have been billed for, open for contact about visit. Preferably not from jennifer.

Dr. Kate and her staff are terrific. They are friendly and professional, and they pay attention to details. Dr. Kate makes sure to diagnose a problem correctly, and she follows through until the problem is resolved. I have only high praise for this dentist and her staff.

I had a good experience at Foothills Dental on Feb. 14. The hygienist is very pleasant and extremely professional. She is concerned about any issues that I may have and is a good listener.
