Dr. Carpenter grew up in neighboring Alleghany County; however, he and his family have lived in Surry County for nearlya decade. Dr. Carpenter is a graduate of Wake Forest University (Go Deacs) and he obtained a Doctor of Dental Medicine with honorsfrom East Carolina University. Dr. Carpenter is a proud member ofOmicron Kappa Upsilon, which is a dental honor society. Additionally, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society,Academy of General Dentistry and Spear Education. Dr. Carpenteris proudly married to his wife Shelley and they are blessed with two children Grant and Madilyn.
With nearly two decades of experience, Renee truly enjoysbeing dental hygienist. When she is not treating patients, Renee loves spending time with her family and her doggies. She is especiallyproud to be called Nana by two energetic little ones.
First and foremost Shelley is a proud momma of two vivacious children Grant and Madilyn. Shelley has worked in the dental field for over 15 years in various capacities. Currently, she assists with day-to-day business operations and other administrative tasks.
Chances are if you have ever been to or called Foothill Family Dentistry you've spoken to Linda. As a very loyal employee, Linda has been with our office for over 20 years. As a lifelong resident of Surry County, Linda truly knows our patients. Outside of the office she is devoted wife and loves spending time with her cats.
Karen has proudly served as a dental hygienist for nearly 20 years. Having been at our office her entire career, Karen sincerely appreciates her longstanding relationships with all of her patients. Karen is truly a family person and is blessed with three children and seven grandchildren.
Suzette has enjoyed being a dental assistant for several decades. She is very devoted to her patient's needs and desires. As a wife and mother, Suzette truly enjoys spending time with her family and pets when she is away from the office.
Dorothy has been at our office for more than 30 years. She truly values the long-lasting relationships that she has developed with our patients over the years. Dorothy is a proud mother to three children and is blessed Memaw of four grandchildren.

I used this office for many years and was always happy with their service all the way around. Why only 2 stars? As Dr Carpenter replaced Dr Tucker, subsequently I had just lost my job of 30 years so I was self pay. I tried to schedule cleaning for my children and even gave them the money for the procedure to take with them. The office said I had to get and pay for exrays before they would do a simple cleaning. I asked to speak directly to Dr Carpenter so that I possibly I could do the exrays later since I was self pay. He told me to my face that people are sue happy and that's why they insist on exrays just in case they are sued. He then suggested that I go to the dental school and let some students clean my kids teeth. Let me be clear....if the Dr or staff at this business says any of this review is false, they are liars. That's why I will never go back and you may want to find another dentist.

This practice got me in quickly, were exceptionally kind and efficient, and have been very supportive as I wait to have a dental procedure completed. They understood my fears and have been willing to work with me on those!

Everyone at this office is amazing and attentive! They explain everything and Dr. Carpenter is so thoughtful, reaching out to me personally after both my recent appointments. I had one filling and they got it done with absolutely no pain! I am actually looking forward to my next visit. I highly recommend Foothill Family Dentistry!

I initially had a Raleigh dentist put 2 crowns on my front teeth after breaking a front tooth. I wasn't happy with what he said was "the best that could be done by any dentist" so my friend recommended a second opinion and knew Dr. Carpenter, although he was 2 hours from home, it was worth it. Immediately he recognized the same flaws I did and explained my options. His temporary crowns looked 100% better than the initial dentists PERMANENT crowns. I would trust Dr. Carpenter and his amazingly experienced team, they will take care of you as if you were their own family! I live in Raleigh and will drive the 2 hours to know I'm in great hands!

My family and I have used Winston Salem Dental Care since I started work for RJR back around 1979. Recently I decided to try something closer to home. I had a broken tooth that was causing infection and problems and needed to be extracted. So I decided to try Foothills Family Dentistry in Pilot Mountain because several folks had said they did good work for a fair price... I was very pleased with the service I got during two visits. The first visit for exam and x-rays and the second visit to extract the tooth. Everything went really well, no problems, no pain, no complaints. The price they charged me for the two visits and the extraction was very reasonable. I'm very satisfied with price I paid and the care I received.. I plan on using them from now on as my regular Dentist. I highly recommend them.. Dale Sands

My wife called to set up a cleaning which we get two a year covered by our insurance and was told by the woman who answered the phone that it would be 304 dollars upfront. Needless to say we got off the phone and called a dentist here in Mt airy andade an appt which the woman on the phone said it would be billed to insurance and would cost us zero out of pocket or upfront cost .I called this place in pilot mountain back to ask why the up front cost was and I was polite and I asked the woman why my food lion insurance would cover it at one place but not the other .the woman very quickly replied with well you're wife didn't tell me it was food fion insurance she said it was blue Cross I didn't say anything but honestly who do you think food lion uses for their insurance for their employees .She wasn't rude but she was kinda snappy and after I told her I was just trying to figure this out she became quiet almost like she thought she had explained it thoroughly. This place must have it set up where u pay up front out of pocket then get reimbursed through youre insurance and that's not how this works .I pay insurance ever month so that I can go to the Dr not pay to go to the Dr after I pay insurance every month to have a right to step into a Dr office . If you haven't been to a dentist in a while there are easier places to get into to see a dentist this place expects payment in full .Hate to leave a bad review without ever going but I called for clarification and didn't get it.

My friend was visiting from out of the country and his retainer broke causing the wire to stick out and cut up his mouth. We called at 8am when they opened and they were able to get us in at 9:30am! They were so friendly and understanding. Within 10 minutes they had removed the problem wire. Thank you for your flexibility and great service in our time of need.
