Dr. Sara Pourkay moved to Boulder in 2013 with her husband, Wade, from her hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to moving to Colorado, Dr. Sara practiced in both pediatric and adult dental practices for several years after attending University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, which was also her undergraduate alma mater. Dr. Sara is a true polyglot that has dabbled in fashion, dance instruction and performance as well as music prior to her career in dentistry. Dr. Sara believes in providing efficient, conservative dentistry utilizing the best technology and materials.
Debbie loves her career as a dental hygienist. With 25 years of experience, Debbie is a trusted caregiver and has established a long list of faithful patients here in Colorado. Originally from Connecticut, Debbie received her Associates Degree from Forsyth/ Northeastern University in Boston. She balances her time between Folsom Family Dental and raising her two school-aged children with her husband Mike. She enjoys swimming, skiing, hiking, running, and especially loves reading in her spare time.
Kayla and her husband Josh as well as their two cats moved to the Boulder area from Madison, Wisconsin. She completed her Bachelors degree from UW-LaCrosse and then furthered her education with a degree in dental hygiene from Madison College. She has been practicing dental hygiene since 2008 and has over 18 years experience working in the dental field. Kayla enjoys reading, watching movies, cooking, hiking, and traveling and works with a Periodontic office in addition to ours. We are so happy to have her as a part of our hygiene team!
Amy is a native to Colorado and comes to us with many years of experience in the front office. A breast cancer survivor, Amy is the most upbeat and positive person we know! Amy enjoys spending time with her family, her husband Phil, son Dillon and daughter Deanna. Together they enjoy riding their horses, playing fetch with their dogs, camping, fishing and rescuing any furry animal they can.
Catina lives in Boulder, Colorado with her husband Jeff and their son Boston. She has been in the dental field for 22 years and is recognizable by her kindness and compassion for patients. She brings her southern hospitality to the dental field and has been assisting for 15 years. Catina is originally from San Angelo, Texas, and moved to Colorado in order to be closer to the mountains and experience the outdoors. Catina loves her two cats, Dr. Pepper (although she has recently switched to iced tea because she knows soda is bad for your teeth), a good steak, salsa and hiking!

This is hands down the best dental office I've been to. Dr. Sara is the most relaxed dentist I've ever been to (and I've been to plenty). She's so easy to chat with. During every procedure she keeps you updated with what she's doing and how much longer she expects it to take as she's working on you. It's not a stuffy awkward atmosphere like so many dental offices tend to be. In my 5+ years as a patient, I've never had to wait excessively to be seen for my appointment. I also realize that it's a health care business where emergencies happen, and some patients need extra care and attention prior to my appointment- and that is okay by me. I think anyone complaining about having to wait 10 minutes to be seen is off their rocker truthfully. Dr. Sara is wonderful, and everyone in Boulder should know it.

It has been a little too long since I went to the dentist, but the team at Folsom Family Dental were extremely kind and generous with me, they helped me onboard as a new patient, took me through everything and set me on the right path. I would highly recommend them!

Dr. Sara was great. My tooth was on the border of something (I didn't catch the word) that may or may not need the numbing, and she decided to try without numbing and it went well without pain! Debra, who cleaned my teeth, was the best! She explained the procedure throughly, and made sure I was comfortable. It was the best cleaning experience and I'd definitely recommend her. The reason for non-5 stars is Dr. Sara didn't honor my request for taking breaks during the procedure. I have stiff muscles and have had a bad experience in the past (not at Folsom dental). I kept raising my hand but she ignored my requests saying she'd have to do over the procedure. If you have stiff muscles, keep that in mind. Also they tend to make you wait when you get there on time. I had to wait for 20 mins and 15 for the first 2 visits. [Edit] I didn't want to make argument, but since they denied about the waits in the comment below, I had to clarify. I visited them 3 times. After having to wait for the first 2 times, I decided to be there 10 minutes later at the 3rd visit. (Not sure why they said 15 minutes. I had location recorded on my phone and they should have security cameras everywhere.) Even then, I had to sit down for 2 minutes while they were finishing up the previous appointment. At the fist visit, I got there 10 minutes earlier (12:20pm) and had to leave around 1:22pm for a meeting at 1:30pm. I think patients value the dentist's time and want to be treated the same :)

The front desk lady who was working there was very rude and always pushy about our payments. My family had been struggling financially, and there was absolutely no empathy or any willingness to understand the struggles with our insurance. Sara was also rude on multiple occasions. Not only that, but I have recently found a new dentist, and he has told me that almost all of my fillings (which had been done by Sara and her team) were done incorrectly. Some were too sharp, and some were angled poorly. In the picture below, you can see that the filling is very sharp and does not curve with the tooth. When Sara gave me a referral to get my wisdom teeth removed, I asked her to provide me with another referral to someone who accepts my insurance. For some reason, however, she refused to do so. I do not recommend Folsom Family Dentist.

I just had a porcelain crown put in today. Dr. Pourkay does outstanding work. I'm so happy to have a dentist that I have complete trust in. I get compliments on my teeth all the time. As much as I'd like to take credit for it, it's really due to my dentist and her awesome team of hygienists. My whole family sees Dr. Pourkay and we are extremely satisfied. I highly recommend Dr. Pourkay and Folsom Family Dental.

I have been to see Dr. Sara and Debbie the hygienist for many years. They are both very skilled, friendly, thorough, and make every visit a pleasurable experience (as well as the rest of the staff). I recently had a major bridge and crowns replaced, and Dr. Sara did an excellent job of explaining the options, costs, and steps involved. What would normally not be a fun experience was a very happy and pleasant experience, and I am very happy with the results. I highly recommend Folsom Family Dental.

I love the team at Folsom Family Dentist. The new client onboarding is efficient and easy to complete online, I received a thorough and painless cleaning, and Dr Sara spent more time with me than any other dentist I've visited and provided a thorough review of my teeth.
