Dr. David Shorez is extremely grateful for all of the patients who have been a part of his journey at Flushing Dental Care! Dr. Shorez grew up in the Clio area and was very excited to join the dental office in July 2012 as an Associate Dentist. In August 2013, he took over ownership of Flushing Dental Care. Dr. Shorez is continually looking for ways to innovate the office to provide the best dental care to patients. In 2013, Dr. Shorez became certified in Invisalign to provide patients with a more cosmetic approach to straightening their teeth. He also brought digital x-rays to the office for reduced radiation, instantaneous imaging, and the ability to enhance and contrast images to make more accurate dental diagnoses. Dr. Shorez finds it very gratifying to enhance smiles even more!

Dr. Shorez is a 2012 graduate from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. In 2011, while in dental school, Dr. Shorez traveled to Honduras with a group of classmates for a dental missionary trip. He found the trip very humbling and rewarding. Dr. Shorez also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Medical Technology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Michigan-Flint.

Dr. Shorez is a member of the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association. He is also a member of the Genesee District Dental Society, where he collaborates with dental colleagues and completes Continuing Education courses to stay on the leading edge of dentistry. As a lifelong community member, Dr. Shorez finds it meaningful to serve the patients of Flushing and the surrounding area.

When he is not caring for his patients, Dr. Shorez enjoys running, golfing, spending time with friends and family, and cheering for the Detroit Tigers and Lions. Thinking about Flushing Dental Cares patients brings a smile to Dr. Shorezs face!

Dr. Jennifer Shorez completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science. In 2012, she graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, receiving the Russell W. Bunting Periodontal Society Award. In May 2011, she provided dental treatment to residents of rural La Reforma, Guatemala, completing cleanings, sealants, fillings and extractions with fifteen other University of Detroit Mercy classmates. Additionally, during dental school, Dr. Shorez conducted research by evaluating childrens behavior while having fillings completed on molars. In May 2012, she shared these research findings at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Annual Session in San Diego, California. Following graduation, Dr. Shorez completed a one-year General Practice Residency in dentistry at the Ann Arbor Veterans Administration Hospital, providing her with advanced education and training in dentistry to hone techniques and gain immense experience in a patient population with diverse and complex needs. She very much enjoyed working with these patients. Beyond dentistry, she loves dogs, traveling, running and spending time with her family. Dr. Shorez is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Genesee District Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. She looks forward to meeting and working with all of you!

Dr. Natalya Brezden completed her undergraduate studies at Wayne State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In 1989, she graduated from the University of Michigan School Of Dentistry. Upon graduation, she worked for two years as an associate dentist in Yale, Lapeer and Grand Blanc. In September 1991, she began practicing dentistry in Flushing, Michigan. Dr. Brezden is a member of the American Dental Society, Michigan Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Allen Mortimer completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2008 and graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry (in Dallas, Texas) in May 2012. Some of Dr. Mortimers achievements in dental school include the General Dentistry Award, Deans List (2008-2012), the Odontological Honor Society, and graduating in the top 10 of his dental class. Dr. Mortimer is an active member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Genesee District Dental Society. Dr. Mortimer and his wife, Laura, married in 2008 and are having so much fun raising their children. Outside the dental office, Dr. Mortimer enjoys spending time with his family, as well as watching and playing sports. He serves at his church in the choir and as an usher, youth group leader and treasurer. Dr. Mortimer is excited to be able to practice dentistry at Flushing Dental Care and continue the tradition of relevant, friendly, and proficient care for every patient.

Dr. Tasneem Karassi received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry. She earned a spot on the prestigious Deans List for her impressive academic achievements, as well as received various scholarships and awards including the Delta Dental Scholarship and the Richards J. Schnell Memorial Scholarship. Dr. Karassi also completed special training in restorative dentistry and prosthodontics as part of an exchange student program in Newcastle University in England, UK. Dr. Karassi is currently an active member of the Michigan Dental Association and the American Association for Women Dentists. During her free time, Dr. Karassi enjoys spending time with family, friends, and pets. When she is not in the office, you will find her exploring the outdoors, fishing, and enjoying some delicious food. Dr. Karassi looks forward to meeting you, and helping you achieve your best overall oral health and smile goals.
