Dr. Don Flowers is a native Kentuckian who has practiced dentistry in Springfield, Kentucky since 1989. He was born in Harlan County, and grew up in Middlesboro, Kentucky. After graduating from Eastern Kentucky University with a B.S. in Biology, he then moved on to the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1988. Since that time he has kept his passion for dentistry fresh by taking continuing education courses that keep him up-to-date in his profession. This diverse range of classes and topics range from facial growth and development in children to special techniques for complete denture fabrication; from conservative techniques of preventing tooth decay to the replacement of missing teeth with dental implants.
Since graduation Dr. Flowers has completed two post graduate programs for general dentists in orthodontics, and has acquired over 700 hours of post graduate continuing education in the field of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, craniofacial pain and TMJ dysfunction, and snoring and sleep apnea. This background of training allows him to pursue his area of special interest, which is helping patients with TMD (temporomandibular disorder), migraines, and sleep related breathing disorders (such as nighttime tooth grinding, snoring and sleep apnea). We have excellent success in treating patients with chronic daily headaches, migraines, and TMJ pain and dysfunction. His holistic and conservative approach to treatment has given him tremendous success in helping him improve the lives of his patients. He firmly believes in working with other healthcare practitioners in the best interest of his patients, whether it is a massage therapist, chiropractor, osteopathic physician, or medical physician.

What is a dental implant? A dental implant is a permanent new root for a missing tooth. It is a titanium screw that is placed into the jaw bone. An abutment and crown is then placed on the implant to provide a new tooth that is permanent and looks just like a natural tooth.
How are dental implants different than dentures? Dentures are a removable set of teeth or partial set of teeth that need to be removed and cared for in a special manner. They can often feel bulky and are difficult to get used to. Dental implants are a permanent replacement for missing teeth that can be cared for just like natural teeth.
What are the benefits of dental implants? Dental implants look and feel just like real teeth, they are permanent, you can eat the foods you want without any fear of embarrassment, and they procedure is very successful and fairly inexpensive.
Who can place a dental implant? Your dentist may be able to perform implants in their own office based on their training. If not, they will recommend you to an implantologist, cosmetic dentist, or another specialist that will perform the procedure.
