Welcome to the Florian Orthodontics Dr. Tao is a board-certified orthodontist by the American Board of Orthodontics. She regularly attends conferences and takes continued education courses to always be up to date with the latest research studies, technology and clinical techniques. She strives to provide personalized care to her patients and help them achieve beautiful smiles that last a lifetime. Dr. Cathy Tao was born and raised in Taiwan. She moved to the US with her parents during high school. After completing her undergraduate study in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley, she decided to pursue a career in dentistry. Dr. Tao received her dental training from University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). She was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and was awarded the Exceptional Interest in the Development of the Oro-Facial Complex by the American Association of Orthodontics. After dental school, Dr. Tao continued her postdoctoral specialty training at UCSF to become an orthodontist. To give back to the community, Dr. Tao volunteered at the Berkeley Free Clinic, coordinated the annual Give Kids a Smile event which provides underserved children with free oral health care and participated in medical/dental mission trips with a San Francisco based non-profit organization, Alliances for Smiles. Dr. Tao loves being an orthodontist because it allows her to combine her love of art and science. At her practice, she also enjoys getting to meet and know her patients and their families. Dr Tao and her team are looking forward to helping patients of all ages to discover their new smiles and to be part of their journey to their new smiles. In her spare time, Dr. Tao enjoys traveling, photography and spending time with her family and friends. Education

The cost of your orthodontic treatment will vary depending on your individual needs and treatment plan. Our staff will discuss with you the cost of your treatment and each available payment plan option, so that you can make the best choice for you and your smile. We will work with you to create a payment plan that fits your budget, and you will know what to expect before beginning treatment. We offer full payment discount, interest-free in house financing plans as well as family discount. You can also use FSA (flexible spending account) to cover your orthodontic expenses.

Dr Tao was very professional and nice and my experience was exceptional. Went for my retainers as a new patient, and she patiently explained everything to me and has done a clean job removing my Invisalign attachments and getting me a scan. I did not take the all-five-star reviews on Google seriously, but now I get it, she was definitely not overhyped at all!

Absolutely lovely service. I was in a bind from a detached lower retainer. Cathy fixed it immediately, but also ran through the pros and cons for a removable one at a later date. I really appreciate them having openings for minor emergencies.

I went here to get my new set of retainers for my Invisalign treatment completed a few years back. Dr. Tao is amiable, professional, and very kind. She was accommodating and provided an extra set free of charge. She swiftly replies and answers all the questions in detail while keeping in mind not to overcharge or suggest anything unnecessary. I will highly recommend her, and she will be my orthodontist from now on as long as I live in the bay area.

From the beginning of my orthodontic journey back in October of 2021 Cathy has been phenomenal. She's been Extremely diligent, a quick email or phone call away from answering any lingering/clarifying questions. Gone above and beyond when talking to insurance claims and assure we get the best rate. For being a 24 year old adult with braces she's made this experience an enjoyable one and am excited for the end result. Looking forward to visiting Florian Orthodontics for many years to come!

Dr. Tao has been so warm and welcoming. Came in to redo invisalign after moving away from my last provider and I have loved my experience thus far. Dr. Tao has made getting care easy and she was really flexible with my schedule (especially as a graduating senior in college I was really appreciative of her making sure I came in when it worked best). The office is a really nice space and Dr. Tao has taken really great care of my teeth so far! Not only is she understanding but also very good with communication. Would definitely recommend going to her if you're in the bay and interested in getting orthodontic work done.

Have been receiving Invisalign treatment since December. I highly, highly recommend Florian Orthodontics. Dr Tao is extremely professional, has always been clear about my treatment and has kept everything on track, she is very willing to be flexible to my schedule for our appointments. Dr. Cathy Tao has been amazing since my two daughters started their treatments last year. She is very caring and explains any work needs to be done in details. She makes herself available when there is any adjustment bothering my daughters. Her clinic is new and very clean with all updated equipment. I was referred to Dr.Tao by my dentist. I've been wearing the braces for almost a year. The whole experience is beyond my expectation. Dr.Tao and her team are very professional and responsible. Dr.Tao is very patient in providing all the information and explaining everything. She customized a plan combining both clear braces and Invisalign for me. Choose Dr. Tao! She is experienced and wonderful! My family just had an orthodontic consultation with Dr. Tao, and we had a great time in Florian Orthodontic office. The office is clean and organized with the latest equipment. The doctor and staffs were amiable and helpful. We asked many questions during the consultation, and Dr. Tao answered them patiently. Dr. Cathy Tao provides high-quality care and also has a high level of ethical regard for clients. She put a ton of effort into crafting her state-of-the-art practice in San Mateo, and I think clients would have a great experience working with her there. She has a stellar technical background coming from UC Berkeley electrical engineering as well as dental school and orthodontics residency at UCSF. Florian and Dr Tao are amazing. Dr. Tao has handled my daughter's teeth with the greatest care and has been very clear about the entire process. She is always friendly and never fails to make my daughter smile. My daughter loves the abundant color choices for her braces and is happy to go to her orthodontist appointments with Dr Tao. Dr.Tao is one of the kindest, warming Orthodontist you will meet. During our consultation, she listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. I was hesitant due to multiple visit to different orthodontist in the past - and their aggressive nature of wanting you to sign the contract before leaving. Three years later, I finally decided to get braces and was recommended to Dr.Tao. After meeting and speaking to her, I was convinced that she had my best interest at heart, and I'm couldn't be more happier having her as my orthodontist! I literally did not look elsewhere, and scheduled for my treatment a week later. Now six months into my treatment, she became more like family (also Agnes too)! She is available for texting all the time. Go see her. You will not regret it!
