The use of digital panoramic x-rays gives our dentists an accurate and complete view of your teeth as well as other structures inside of your mouth. The digital sensor used to take the images may resemble traditional x-ray film, but it is actually linked to a computer.
Since your x-rays are digital, we can view them collaboratively as soon as they are taken. They are available for discussion and, ultimately, allow for a better understanding of anything that we might need to resolve. In addition, digital x-rays use approximately one-quarter of the radiation of traditional film x-rays. They are also better for the environment as they require no fixant or other harmful chemicals.
Patients often need help relaxing during complex treatments. We offer sedation options that include nitrous oxide and oral sedation. Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that helps you feel drowsy, calm, and detached from the experience. If oral sedation is needed, you will be prescribed a medicine to take before you arrive. In some cases, a combination of both methods is used to help patients fully relax.
Dr. Meghan Darby graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2007. She proudly served in the United States Air Force, where she graduated from a rigorous Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Eglin AFB, FL, in 2008. She then served at Moody AFB in Valdosta, GA, where she was named Company Grade Officer of the Quarter in 2010 for the 23rd Aerospace Medicine Squadron. Dr. Darby is committed to lifelong learning and has earned over 500 hours of continuing education credit.
She has been happily married to Anthony Darby of Decatur, Alabama, for fourteen years. Meghan and Anthony have two (busy) boys, Jackson, age 12, and Grayson, age 9. Dr. Darby graduated from Mississippi State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. It also means she is a frustrated football fan Go Bulldogs!!
Dr. Darby graduated from Sparkman High School in 1997. She is excited to be living and working close to home again! On her off time, youll find her hiking on and around the beautiful trails of the Southeast and working out with Rocket City Crossfit. Dr. Darby volunteers two and a half days a month extracting teeth at theCommunity Dental Free Clinic at no charge for low-income residents of Madison County. Dr. Darby and family are members of Malachi Church and frequently serve as a family at the Downtown Rescue Mission.
Dr Amy is a 2008 graduate of UAB School of Dentistry, and she received a specialty certificate in prosthodontics in 2011. She is a Huntsville native and a graduate of Sparkman High School. She loves dentistry because of its creative problem solving. She enjoys creating custom work flows and plans for patients.
