Dr. D. Michael Gioffre Jr. is a graduate of The University of Maryland Dental School with an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. Dr Gioffre has been practicing dentistry in Wilmington Delaware since 1999. He is an active member in the dental community locally, nationally and internationally.
Locally Dr. Gioffre is a member of the Advisory board for Kids with Confidence, a not for profit organization that provides much needed surgical and dental care to children in the Delaware Valley. Dr. Gioffre also serves on the board of the Delaware Dental Foundation, a local not-for-profit organization that annually holds an event to raise awareness and donates all of its funds to a local organization. This years beneficiary will be Delaware's Make A Wish Foundation.
Nationally and Internationally Dr. Gioffre co-chairs the Dental Council of Operation Smile which is a not for profit organization providing surgical and dental care to children and young adults in over 60 countries. Dr. Gioffre has had the privilege to volunteer on 22 charitable missions to multiple countries including the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, China, Bolivia and the Philippines.
Dr Gioffre is a member of The Delaware State Dental Society, The Academy of General Dentistry, The American Dental Association and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has also been very active in helping patients while in dental school, therefore receiving such prestigious awards as The Baltimore College of Dental Surgery Faculty Chair and The American Association of Public Health Dentistry Award.
Dr Gioffres passion for dentistry and joy to treat and help patients both children and adults is where he has gained his reputation as an exceptional dentist who is caring and compassionate and will give the best in quality dental care.
After obtaining her dental degree, Dr. Binnersley completed a general practice residency at the Hospital of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C. She then moved to Delaware and has been part of the Wilmington community since 1992.
Dr. Binnersley is a member of the American Dental Association, the Delaware State Society and the First State Implant Study group. She has had the privilege to become part of the Operation Smile Organization in 2013.
She has taken advanced hands on courses in cosmetic, restorative and endodontics and is dedicated to keep educating herself to improve her skills and knowledge in the field of dentistry to provide her patients with the best care possible. Dr. Binnersley is also bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish.
Dr. Marissa Schnelle is a graduate of The Ohio State University with an undergraduate degree in Biology form Case Western Reserve University. She then moved to Delaware and completed a general practice residency at Christiana Care in Wilmington in 2005. She has been working in the community ever since as a general dentist and for the past five years has also spent time in a pediatric practice.
Dr. Schnelle is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Denitstry, the Delaware State Dental Society and the First State Implant Study Group. When not practicing dentistry, Marissa is busy with her husband Mark raising their three kids, enjoying the beach and traveling.
Karen has been in the dental field since 1985. She started as a dental assistant and transitioned into her role as an office manager in 1990. She works with our team at First State Dental to help ensure all of our patients receive the highest level of customer service when it comes to insurance needs and questions, scheduling, and all financial arrangements.
Kelli has lived in Delaware all her life and has been a dental assistant for over 20 years. She joined First State Dental back in 2013. She loves working with people and making our patients feel comfortable during their procedures.
Born and raised in Wilmington, Leslie graduated from Delcastle Technical High School in 1995 as a dental assistant. Leslie came to First State Dental in early 2016, bringing more than 25 years of experience.
Laura graduated from Delcastle in 2017 as a dental assistant. Currently, she attends Delaware Technical Community College, where she is pursuing a career as a Dental Hygienist. Laura is fluent in Spanish and is always willing to help translate.
Katelynn is from New Jersey and moved to Delaware in 2011. She has been a dental assistant since 2016 and joined First State Dental in December 2020. Katelynn enjoys spending time with her fianc Tyler and daughter, Victoria.
Born and raised in Claymont, DE until the age of 14 then moved to the outer city of Wilmington. Graduated from Howard High School of Technology as a dental assistant in 2002. Graduated from Harcum College with her associates of science degree as an E.F.D.A. in 2005.
She loves spending quality time with her daughter Aaliyah and son Hasani as well as close family and friends. She likes going to the beach, amusement & nature parks, and to the movies in her free time.
Sue has been working in the dental field since 1987 and has been a dental hygienist since 1990. She has been working at First State Dental since June 2007. She prides herself on making her patients feel comfortable and at ease.
Stephanie is excited to be a part of the First State Family. She brings with her over 25 years of experience. She enjoys spending time with her family, decorating large-scale events, and roller coasters.
Jenny has been a Dental Hygienist since 1997, having worked within four states and a variety of clinical settings. Her greatest daily accomplishments are seeing her patients overcome their dental fears and helping them reach better dental and overall health through encouragement and building confidence. Her most recent professional venture includes extensive education in Orofacial Myology. She is able to provide therapy for the oral and facial muscles as they relate to speech, dentition, chewing, and swallowing, and even provide a program to help stop habits such as thumb sucking.
Born and raised in Elmhurst, Illinois. Jessica moved to Wilmington in 1985. Jessica's vast knowledge comes from working at a health care insurance company for 13 years. She graduated in 2010 from Wilmington University with a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Management with a minor in Human Resources.

Went in for an emergency visit after breaking my front tooth. When matching my filling color, the dentist was trying to decide between a color that was lighter or darker than the rest. She picked the darker color before consulting me. I can't imagine why considering teeth can be whitened but I can't make my teeth more yellow... and unless I chose to now pay out of pocket to have it fixed, I have to temporarily walk around with my front tooth being significantly more yellow. The staff was friendly but overall I really wish there was more communication considering this is something I have to look at daily.

Every time I go to First State Dental I'm always greeted with the friendly staff! I never have to wait more than 5 minutes to get called back for my appointment. Jenny my hygienist is just amazing, the fact that she's friendly, thorough, and cares makes me feel so at ease (i never liked going to the dentist). Dr. Gioffre was a complete pleasure. I actually look forward to returning and obtaining that smile I always wanted.

I love this office! I had my first appointment today I saw Dr Schnelle she was so sweet and made me feel very comfortable, she explained everything to me and made sure I understood. The dental hygienist was amazing! She saw that I was getting very nervous and asked if I was ok, I'm sorry I didn't get her name but she was awesome! This office is extremely clean, followed COVID guidelines, the front desk was very welcoming! I cannot wait to go back! Thank you First Dental for a easy, pain free quick first visit!

Love this practice! The staff is excellent. The doctors all have great bedside manners and the staff is so kind and caring. Absolutely would recommend this practice to anyone.

I have been a patient at this practice for about a year and I can safely say I will be a patient as long as I live in Delaware. Dr. Gioffre and his staff are so kind & accommodating while providing excellent dental care! I recently needed emergency dental care and the staff were able to find me a same day appointment and Dr. Gioffre discounted the cost even though my insurance wanted me to pay a crazy amount of money for the small procedure. I highly recommend!

Went to see Dr. Gioffre yesterday for an opinion on a costly procedure my own dentist told me I needed. Dr. Gioffre made me feel confident that I did not need it and saved me thousands. His practice also felt like a tight knit well functioning family. Everyone was nice and professional. He is my new dentist now! Thanks First State Dental.

This incredible practice is like family to me. Having my kids grow up with this family and my own care received for over 10 years has been amazing. The thoroughness of care from administration to the front line staff is like no other. They absolutely go above and beyond in their knowledge, services, compassion and scheduling. My heart is always filled when I go knowing that I am receiving the best, safest, and most current state of the art care in my dental health. My family has had emergency situations and they are always available and have provided understanding when needed on the weekends. I truly cannot say enough for the docs, staff and beautiful office they work in. I am grateful and appreciative for the continued confidence and peace of mind of my and my sons' dental health. After years of not having dental coverage I knew I needed to see a dentist. First State Dental's team was nothing but friendly, reassuring and made my first visit back and needing a major filling done painless and enjoyable. almost 4 years later I don't dread going and love to walk in being known by name. As a child I was tortured at the dentist, I'm now 73 and I still had immense anxiety about a dental visit; until I became a patient at First State Dental. With the best staff you will ever come across in any office, you will receive outstanding care at the hands of Dr. Gioffre and his highly trained team. It's like going to visit family!
