Dr. Rob is a second-generation dentist who has long been passionate about science. Having fantastic mentors during his childhood, he quickly developed a curiosity in the outdoors and often wondered how the natural world worked. Upon entering college, Rob became interested in entomology, the study of bugs. However, along with a career, he also wanted a family.

He wasnt ready to give up his hopes of being a family man to chase bugs in South America. Instead, he wanted a career where he could pursue science and raise a family. After returning to Brigham Young University from a two-year mission in France, he began his dentistry studies. Now, decades later, Dr. Rob finds it difficult to imagine a job he would love more.

Dr. Tom attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and entered dental school after his sophomore year of college. He received his dental education at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and received his DDS in 1995. He then completed a one-year residency program at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Loma Linda, California. This year, Dr. Tom is celebrating 25 years as a dental practitioner and 20 years practicing with Dr. Lerohl in Sandwich.

Dr. Tom is a member of the American Equilibration Society and a Pre-Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. He is married with two children and lives in Sandwich. Dr. Tom enjoys spending time with his family, loves to travel, he has a serious addiction to golf (especially when he gets to play Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois) and he will still gladly tell you that the best burgers can be found at Dons Bar (a.k.a. The Olde Tyme Inn) in Sandwich, Illinois.

Dr. Penny is a Southern California native. She holds a BS in Biochemistry from UC San Diego. She graduated in 1995 with Drs. Landers, Lerohl, and Schmit. After graduation, she completed a residency at Loma Linda VA Hospital in 1996. She moved to Chicago and practiced in Addison, IL before moving out to Sandwich in 2002 with her husband, Dr. Tom. As he helped Dr. Rob establish First Impressions, she worked part-time and raised their two children. In May of 2019, Dr.Penny joined the team as the practice was growing so rapidly. Adding more doctor time to the schedule means more patients can be seen in a timely fashion. Working part-time allows flexibility in her schedule to see patients and to cover for other Team Awesome members. She is cross-trained at all jobs, so you may see her up in the front and scheduling patients or back in hygiene cleaning teeth. There is never a dull moment in her day! Dr. Penny is also in charge of the Facebook page, promotions, and contests. In her free time, she enjoys baking, scrapbooking and photography, traveling, and bargain hunting.

As a child, Kali was a First Impressions patient, and in 2014, she became an essential part of our team. She specializes in designing and milling crowns and abutments for dental implants. Her main goal is to master the design and production of crowns for our patients.

Dawn joined the First Impressions team in 2018 with 20 years of experience as a dental assistant. She quickly proved herself as a valuable addition to our practice. In addition to her dental assistant duties, Dawn acts as our Dental Laboratory Manager. She keeps our lab stocked and ensures that all processes are running smoothly. Dawn makes impressions for bleaching trays, mouth guards, and fabricates them on-site in our dental laboratory.

Angie came to First Impressions in 2013, and wholeheartedly believes in our vision for healthy smiles and enjoys being apart of the team. As a dental assistant, she prepares treatment rooms and assists our doctors with dental procedures, as well as fabricating crowns, mouth guards, and bleaching trays at our in house lab. Angie works to maintain clear and open communication with each patient while being compassionate. Outside of work she enjoys family, scary movies, and hiking with her husband and rescue pitbull, Jax.

Melissa has been with the company for 6 years, her duties are to assist the doctors with dental procedures, managing and ordering supplies, coordinator for dental implant planning and treatment. Melissa loves to bake, spend time with her family and vacation on the beach.

Joni has spent the last three decades of her career honing her skills in patient hygiene and treatment. As a Registered Dental Hygienist, she helps educate patients to keep their smiles looking great. Joni continues to be an asset to our awesome team and aims to give our patients the best experience possible.

Kim has been with the company for 21 years! Kims duties are to treat patients for recare dental cleanings, monitor patients for periodontal disease, patient education and patient record keeping. Kim loves to read, spend time with family and friends and go on vacation.

Allison provides gentle, thorough dental cleanings and educates patients on how to keep their mouths healthy! Allison is also the office clean freak and can often be found cleaning windows or organizing closets. Her studies included Dental Hygiene from Parkland College, and a BS in Community Health Education from Illinois State University.

Education & Training: Certifications Administration of Local Anesthetic and Administration of Nitrous Oxide Favorite Charity: Cops for Cancer a great organization that provides financial assistance to LOCAL families dealing with cancer. Hometown: Peru, IL Hobbies: Spending time with family, traveling to northern Wisconsin as much as possible, Jeep rides, cocktails with friends, concerts.

Shelly has worked at First Impressions for 18 years and counting. She graduated form Northwestern University with an Associates in Dental Hygiene. She has been a hygienist for 33 years & she strives to continue to help her patients maintain a healthy smile. Outside of work she loves to spend time with her family & travel to the beaches of Florida as much as possible!

Lindsay has been a hygienist for 13 years and worked at First Impressions the whole time! She studied at Waubonsee Community College for 2 years and College of DuPage for 2 years. Before she started her career as a hygienist she was a dental assistant for 5 years. In her free time she loves to spend time with her family.

Regina has been working at First Impressions for 31 years. Her favorite charity is the American Diabetes Association and in her free time she loves to go camping, sit around bonfires and especially go to a beach and spend time with her family!

Heather has worked at First Impressions since July of 2013. Since then the staff has become like family. She looks forward to learning new things, and continues to improve her knowledge and skills. Heather enjoys the outdoors, especially with her family!

Anne started coming to First Impressions 20 years ago as a patient and started working with the team in 2019. She enjoys traveling anywhere warm and sunny! Anne also loves spending time with her 3 children and her husband, usually at a sporting event.

The office staff is always pleasant and very kind and helpful. Its amazing how you can have such great people in one office, but not to mention how great the dentists are. I highly recommend this dental office to my family and friends.
