Dr. Merzon graduated magna cum laude from Clark University in Worcester, MA where he received his B.A in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. While at Clark, Dr. Merzon was an active member of Clark EMS, a team of volunteer certified emergency medical technicians that responded to all medical emergencies on the university campus. He spent one year doing research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute prior to attending dental school. Dr. Merzon received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he graduated cum laude.
First Impression Dental is the continuation of great family tradition in exceptional dental care. First started in 1938 by Dr. Frank B. Greene, it was then carried on by his son Dr. Richard A. Greene, and now continued by Dr. Greenes son-in-law Dr. Dmitry G. Merzon.

What sets us apart is the way we treat our patients. Our goal is to create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere where we treat you as part of our family, the way we would want to be treated.
At First Impression Dental we are dedicated to providing the highest quality dental care in a friendly, and caring environment. We work hard to offer personalized care and treatment so every patient feels most comfortable, and receives our undivided attention.
All dental instruments are sterilized in between every patient. We use state-of-the-art sterilization equipment that destroys all possible forms of bacteria or virus using high-pressure steam. In order to ensure adequate sterilization every time, we use sterilization indicators on all instrument packages. Once a week we use a professional testing service to add absolute assurance to this sterilization system.

I've been coming here for a few years now and they're the best dentist practice I've had in years. I even moved away and distill kept them on, driving 90mins for my appointments. Thankfully I'm back in Boston now and it's convenient to get to and parking is easy. Gail at the front is terrific and friendly. Dr Merzon and his dental hygienists are always great and accommodating. They explain things clearly and they have updated technology that make my dental visits efficient and easy.

update August 2022: Another great visit to First Impression Dental. The office is thoroughly efficient, Melissa gave me a very gentle and thorough cleaning, and Dr. Merzon a general exam. They are the best! Highly recommended. Parking is super easy and the office is spotless and well organized. update Feb 2022: I am so appreciative of the top-notch care provided by Dr. Merzon and his team! From Gail at the front desk, to Georgia as dental hygienist and Dr. Merzon himself, they are all excellent! So gentle, such good communicators, and so technically good. This practice is not pushy, but lays out the options and works with you. I am on their quarterly plan, and that has been very helpful. I highly recommend this First Impression! update Jan 2021: I just had another great visit (semi-annual cleaning) to First Impression Dental and want to put in another rave review for this practice! The team is top notch! Dr. Merzon and dental hygienist Brianna are SO gentle, thorough and efficient - and Gail at the front desk is efficient and welcoming! The new location of the office is super convenient - easy parking. Their equipment and procedures inspire 100% confidence in relation to managing the Covid context. I can't recommend this practice highly enough! *** update oct 2018: Can it be said that one looks forward to a dental visit? Well actually yes, if you go to First Impression! I had my 6 month cleaning today and had impressions taken for a night guard as I have been grinding and cracking my teeth! Once again, the care was top notch. Thorough but gentle (no pain), informative (every team member takes the time to explain procedures as well as pros/cons of different approaches), and totally patient-centric. Easy to get to by public, easy to park if driving, scheduling is a breeze and you don't wait to get in. You are in really good hands here! ******** update: I had another visit to First Impression Dental today (for a crown) and, once again, I can count so many reasons why I am a thankful and satisfied patient! I appreciate the solid communication between the team members and with me; the gentleness of the practice (literally no pain today!); their professionalism and attention to detail; and the final results. You can count on Dr. Merzon and his staff ensure you are well informed, relaxed, and given quality dental care. I highly recommend this practice. ***** just had my third appointment and I am SO thankful I found this practice - they are the best! Dr. Merzon is extremely gentle and talks you through everything from start to finish - whether a specific procedure or the various options for treatment. He and his assistant, Menbere, are a great team - very professional, efficient and personable. As someone who has carried anxiety about dentistry for many years due to pain in the past, I can honestly say I can RELAX in the chair. I have had a filling done, got a referral for a root canal (a great referral, by the way, where everything was super smooth), and I am now having a crown. The environment is welcoming, positive and healing. If you are looking for a dentist, look no further - this is the place! *** Update Jan 2020 - My 6 monthly cleaning and check-up visit in December was excellent. Brianna, the hygienist, was super gentle and thorough. Dr. Merzon was attentive and down to earth as usual. Gail at the front desk was cheery and informative. Had a scheduled scaling procedure and I've hated those in the past. Staff here were using modern techniques and great care to make it comfortable and it went great. Best dental experience I've had yet

My experience at First Impression was exceptional. A filling had come out of my tooth and I and called here because I couldn't get into my prior dentist, and I had heard and read good things about them. Gail (the office manager/receptionist) answered the phone and was very helpful and friendly -- even more importantly, she got me in on that same day -- just a few hours later! From the minute I walked in the office, everyone was extremely professional and informative. Dr. Merzon took the time to explain what the issue was and how he'd fix it, and then did it all that afternoon. I was leaving town the next day so really appreciated everyone in the office going above and beyond. First Impression is officially my new dentist. Highly recommend!

Dr. Merzon and his team are so incredibly friendly and great at what they do. From regular cleanings, to fillings and night guards, they are truly an awesome team. Added bonuses include their modern office and equipment, music choices, and front desk communication led by Gail! First Impression Dental was a highlight for me while living in Cambridge and I am sad to leave them.

Dr Merzon and his staff are extremely caring and professional. I can't say that I love going to the dentist, but they make the experience very easy and pleasant. I've had routine cleanings and check ups, as well as a recent emergency crown replacement, and all have gone really smoothly and painlessly. I highly recommend them.

My first visit to First Impression Dental was wonderful! Everyone in the office was kind and helpful and I was taken right away. The office is brand new and state-of-the art. My x-rays went smoothly and my cleaning was excellent. The time I spent with Dr. Merzon was thorough and informative. Both the hygienist and and the dentist spent a good deal of time with me and went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction. I highly recommend First Impression Dental and look forward to my next visit.

I had a very nice experience at first impression dental. The Receptionist was very nice and welcoming. They saw me right away the first appointment. I needed a crown and Dr Merzon was excellent. I was very apprehensive before he put a crown on my tooth. I felt nothing during the procedure though and he asked me a few times if I was okay. He was very considerate and explained as he went along. It took less time than I expected too! He made the crown right after he prepped my tooth. Three hours later I still have no pain or sensitivity. Very good Job!

On October 2020, the dentist made 4 crowns for me, they did not fit as they should be, then I have to go to tufts dental centre to re do them again sadly. That's costed me almost double efforts, pain, waste time and money, since the dentist refused to refund me like more than $7.000. On the other hand The receptionist Gale, is very kind and friendly, she welcomes the patient as I have never seen before
