Loved my experience here the dentist was really nice and nonjudgmental. He gave me a clear plan on how to go forward with my dental work needed so happy I came

The front desk is super rude, and they weren't transparent about insurance and costs upfront. I asked at least 3 times for pricing before agreeing to do fillings, and then received a huge bill and they told me my insurance didn't actually cover it. They should've told me to check with insurance before and not pretended it was all free for me. I found them to be predatory, also suggesting extra fillings which my new dentist said are not at all necessary. The dentist himself was nice, but I wouldn't recommend this dental office at all.

Everyone at the dental office is very professional and very nice they did an amazing job with my extractions and getting me my set of dentures took his time to make sure everything fit right and I was really surprised at how much they cared I would recommend this dentist office to anybody. From the dentist to the hygienist to the secretaries all the people at this office are extremely wonderful I'm extremely happy and like I said I would recommend this dentist office to anybody

Mr. Mota was an all star when helping getting my teeth cleaned. Even during sensitive areas he found ways to go back to get them cleaned while actually paying attention to my sensitivity tolerance so I was not in pain...all in all this has been a great dental experience with this office. Aside from the first practitioner who was very very aggressive but he has since moved on to LA and no longer with the company.

I made a new patient app for an abstraction, the girls at the front were pretty friendly. I walked out with temporary partial (upper) and he also pulled 2 bottom teeth. He informed me that Masshealth pays for upper partials which I had no idea, so I agreed. Went back a few weeks later for my permanent partials. Still nothing for the bottom. He asked me to pick out the color bright white, white etc of course I chose bright white. When I left with my permanent uppers everyone was shocked because I should have received bottoms as well, Masshealth pays for both. I even called Masshealth to verify and they said yes they do. So now my bottom teeth are yellowish with 2 missing and my uppers are bright white. When I went back he fitted me for bottom dentures. I didn't want dentures I wanted bottom partials as well. He specifically told me they do not pay for bottom partials. (Not true) so now not know what to do I agreed to get fitted for bottom dentures. I got the call saying they were in. After spending 78.00 on an Uber the dentures were too small! In the meantime he also fit me for upper dentures (2teeth) which I refused to wear because I couldn't speak normally I had a lisp and sounded ridiculous. His female assistant tells me "I'll get used to them" are you kidding me? I work with the public THERES no way in hell I was going to wear them. I went back AGAIN because the bottoms were too short. This is 4 times I went back to this place and over 220.00 in Ubers for nothing. Ok so he says let's fit you again, ok sure...At this point I'm furious after finding out Mass health pays for upper and lower. Finally after a few weeks they call me to tell me they received my bottom partials. Sure ok I'll come in. But I will never ever step foot in this place again, not to mention the girl who makes the appointments is extremely rude and sarcastic. DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE PATIENT AND SEND AN EMAIL STATING MY TIME IS AN HOUR LATER THEN THE ORIGINAL TIME. when I called to ask her ok so what time is my appointment 2 or 3 her response was " what do you wanna do". WHAT??? So unprofessional. After speaking with another dentist as well with Mass health I will not be returning. I informed Mass health that I do not want those dentures and if this office bills you they need to investigate. This location is in a seedy strip mall in Somerville. Thank god I found a reputable dentist who will be giving me bottom partials and reassured me I will not be having any issues as far as coming back nor will I have any complaints with the front desk, these girls are friendly and extremely professional.

Somerville First Dental (622 Somerville Ave. Somerville, MA) is NOT honest about their bills and charges to their customers. Please be extremely careful about the payments and their bills. Do not trust their bills. All the charge amounts would be different from what your dental insurance company has approved. They will rip you off and overcharge you as much as they can. And when you found out they overcharged you, they would NOT work with you to refund (because they did it on purpose, not by mistake). It is NOT an honest business!! Below let me tell you my experience with them. I visited Somerville First Dental and had two services ((D2392-Tooth Filling Resin 2 surface posterior, and D4341-periodontal scaling and root planing). By the end of the services, the front desk person told me that I need to pay around $250 after my insurance coverage (Delta Dental). One month later, I received Explanation of Benefits (EOB) mailed to me from Delta Dental, which indicates my portion (patient pay) for these two services done should be around $160. This inconsistency means that Somerville First Dental over-charged me $ 90 (=$250-$160). When I contacted Somerville First Dental by email about this, they are not willing to fix this. They only replied my first email inquiry to confirm that I had paid $250, but then when I further explained the inconsistency to them, they stopped replying my multiple follow up emails. I kept calling them multiple times, and finally got to talk to the front desk person who is responsible for billing and payments, but she refused to refund me the $90, and told me that this extra $90 was for I re-did the tooth filling with them. This really surprised me and I believe the front desk person cheated, because of the following two reasons: 1) This second tooth refilling service was NOT reported in the EOB provided by Delta Dental at all. I do NOT think they ever reported a second tooth filing service to Delta; 2) According to the EOB, I need to pay $40 for that tooth filling. Even there were a second tooth filling service done, it would be the same amount $40.05 instead of $90; and 3) I did remember that the tooth filling failed for the first time (after the filling, the tooth could not touch the opposing tooth at all), and the doctor promised me to re-do it the next day to correct it for free. I also remember on the day I made the payment, the front desk person printed out a service list that I received, and D2392 was listed twice. I clearly remember that I brought this up to that front desk person, and I had an argument with her at that time already. After I insisted that she should confirm with the doctor who did the tooth filling for me, she confirmed with the doctor and said <>. But actually, she cheated, and she did actually charge my second tooth filling without letting me be aware, and the extra charge was somehow $90 which is even more than what one is supposed to be charged for re-doing one tooth filling ($40). After I questioned her with the above three reasonings, she refused to talk any further but said I should talk to my insurance company Delta (Well, I had talked to Delta twice already, Delta agreed that Somerville First Dental overcharged me, Delta told me that I should have paid what EOB lists as <>. I would never recommend Somerville First Dental to anyone.

Horrible experience even before meeting the doctor. Called to confirm, that they are in network providers with my insurance and they told me to call the insurance to do that and that I would be responsible for the bill if insurance company denies it. Why cant the doctors office confirm this?

I have been afraid of the dentist for a little while now. I came because I had severe tooth pain and needed two root canals. When I first got to the office I was just in such a bad mood. The staff, Dr. Hovhannes, and the office manager made me feel so much better. They squeezed me in for 2 appointments. I honestly couldn't have felt more and comfortable in a dentist office! Thank you so much.
