Dr. Simon Chang grew up in Taipei, Taiwan and immigrated to Southern California in 1980 his with wife and 3 children. His oldest daughter Ling-Ling has pursued a life of public service and was formerly a California State Senator. His oldest son Yaojen (which you will learn about later on this page) followed in his footsteps and has become a dentist.
Dr. Chang attended the University of Southern California and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Class of 1984. Once he graduated, he worked for Dr. Beauchamp's Western Dental Centers as the Managing Doctor, from 1984-1995. As the head of the highest producing office in all of Southern California, Dr. Chang gave lectures to new dentists entering the workforce for Western Dental, and taught them the clinical skills necessary to be proficient as dentists in the real world.
In 1995, Dr. Chang decided to open his own practice, First Dental Group, in the City of Montclair. After over 25 years of good will as a dentist in Montclair, he is very proud to have built lasting relationships with the thousands of patients that have come through these doors. He said that he will not retire completely because he loves what he does.
Dr. Yaojen Chang grew up in Southern California since the age of 2, in the cities of Walnut and Diamond Bar. He is married to his wife Megan, who happens to be a dental hygienist. (and no, they do not work at the same practice, heeding the advice of many people!) They are proud parents to Mila and Kobe, who are ages 8 and 5 respectively.
Dr. Chang attended the University of California, Riverside to receive his Bachelor of Science degree, Class of 1999. He then attended the University of Southern California and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Class of 2004. Once he graduated, his father did not want him to work solely for him because he wanted his son to learn how other practices are run, and to learn new experiences on his own. So upon graduation, he worked part time at First Dental Group and at another dental practice in West Covina. At the beginning of 2007, Dr. Chang began working full time at First Dental Group because of the increased patient load. He also works as an instructor at American Career College in Ontario with the dental assisting program, and participates as a Board Advisor in meetings to improve the dental assisting program at the school.
Dr. Chang has been the driving force behind the modernization of First Dental Group. He has set up a completely new, state-of-the-art computer system for the office; which features instant digital x-rays, making the office more efficient. Eventually, Dr. Chang would like to have a completely paperless office, meaning everything, including charts, will be computerized.
Dr. Chang enjoys working at First Dental Group with his father, maintaining relationships with the existing patients, while welcoming new patients to the practice. He looks forward to continuing the tradition of excellence that his father has set before him, for many more years to come.

I got my 2 of wisdom teeth removed a few years ago and had the worst experience ever. They caused permanent damage giving me TMJ because they used a block way too large for my mouth. At one point they even began drilling into the wrong tooth. My stitches fell out after 2 days, so my gums did not heal correctly. They became infected since they never even gave me anything to clean them. The whole time I was awake and just felt chunks of my teeth going down my throat. The experience I had here left me too terrified to get my remaining 2 wisdom teeth removed.

Excellent service from your assistants Roxy and Maria and very friendly staff and they offer you everything you need doctors are very happy about your work, I recommend appointments give them fast very clean the workplace too.

Not the best dentist office they barely clean your teeth if you go in close to closing time and Lunch is more important to them than a patent in pain but the dr's do good work that's the only reason they get 3 stars

I have severe anxiety when it comes to the dentist. The combination of the pain and noise freaks me out. I want to say that they did an excellent job. I didn't feel anything NEAR the pain I anticipated. I couldn't believe a root canal could be so painless.

In x-ray they have high technology. It's Great Dr.Chang jr . he is nice and gentle with his patients and assistant Nelly was really sweet and friendly marking sure I was okay.
